21.01.2022 Dear WASSA members and non-members, Please read this important notice regarding WASSA events scheduled in 2020 and how they have been affected by the Coronavirus (COVID-19). With the best interests of our members, friends and community in mind, WASSA, inline with ASSA recommendations, will be cancelling all events until the 30th of April. We will continue to monitor the situation closely and will make decisions on when to commence our events based on recommendations from the ...government and our national body, ASSA. The events currently being cancelled are Beginners Days (11th, 12th, 19th April), Beginners Camp (15th -17th May), Bootcamp and all training events. We ask those who may have access to our training grounds to not attend, if you do decide to train your dogs, please use other public grounds and be aware that it is at your own risk. For those booked for Bootcamp, messages have been sent to you regarding rescheduling. This is a difficult decision to make. We are doing everything we can to make sure our races and events are as safe as possible for our mushers, handlers and spectators. Most of us and our dogs live for this sport and cannot wait for cooler temperatures and the season to start, but public social gatherings at this time pose a high risk to those attending and anyone in contact with them thereafter. Currently gatherings of more than 100 people indoors and 500 outdoors have been banned. We do not make those numbers, but our events and training do not adhere to current social spacing guidelines. There must be no more than one person per four square metres of ground space, for indoor venues" We thank you all for your continued support, and will keep you updated of any ongoing information that will affect our mushing community. Thank you, Sarrah Zonneveld, WASSA President, on behalf of WASSA Committee.

20.01.2022 The WASSA Committee is pleased to announce that training will be restarting with safety rules and restrictions to keep mushers, handlers and spectators safe. The training posts will be shared on the WASSA Facebook group on Wednesdays about training that weekend. Training will be cancelled if temperatures are considered unsafe for our dogs to train. For more information on training please join our group www.facebook.com/groups/wasleddogs

19.01.2022 Dont forget to get your entries in! Entries close tomorrow at midnight. Spectators allowed and welcomed.

17.01.2022 Come and see us this Saturday in Ocean Reef.

15.01.2022 COVID-19 UPDATE Valued members and non members, as most of you will be aware the Government has announced the lifting of restrictions to enable groups of up to 10 people to gather, whilst still adhering to the 1.5m social distancing guidelines. Unfortunately, this doesnt affect our restrictions as a sporting club. We still have a suspended season and are unable at this stage to offer any type of official training.... We as a Committee are keeping an eye on all Government updates and are bound to follow guidelines and directives received from ASSA. Thank you for your patience and understanding. 2020 WASSA Committee.
