23.01.2022 WCRA members are making unprecedented investments in collecting, sorting and processing waste from homes, businesses and construction sites. Despite this, a growing trend in regulatory uncertainty across NSW has the potential to halt innovation and investment. If you want more information on WCRA’s services please contact us on (02) 9604 7206.

15.01.2022 WCRA would like to remember a number of waste management industry workers who are no longer with us. Arthur Baker passed away in December 2020; Tony Cade passed away in December 2020; Wally Forbes’ lovely wife passed away earlier in 2021 as did Charlie Johns. RIP Waste Warriors.

07.01.2022 WCRA and members support the introduction of the Scrap Metal Industries Act 2016, which bans the payment of cash in the purchase of scrap metal. The NSW scrap metal industries continues to lobby the Police and the NSW Government to enforce their own legislation. By not allocating the resources to regulate this legislation, the Government is allowing non-compliant, rogue business models to flourish. If the Police need assistance from the ATO, the EPA, Safe Work NSW and the recycling industry, then they should form a task force to look into the payment of cash for scrap metal.

04.01.2022 This short video is from Safe Work NSW (the incident occurred at a paper mill). It highlights the risks associated with hazardous gas, as well as working in confined spaces. This material could be used by employers as training material in a Tool Box Talk. https://youtu.be/bo2XN43lXAc

01.01.2022 It is International Women’s Day and WCRA acknowledges the great work and positive contributions from women across the waste management industry.
