25.01.2022 So inspired when I see customers byo coffee cup, shopping bags and food container for take away food. The tide is turning...slowly. @M-Arts Makers and Finders Market, Murwillumbah.
25.01.2022 A incredible coral reef art installation made with everyday plastic "waste."
21.01.2022 Yep, recycling is good, but it is energy intensive and in Australia we are not very good at separating our resources (for numerous reasons). So as this vid says, reuse is so much better. Less is best. Get creative and keep smiling.
21.01.2022 I take my hat off to food manufacturers who have forthsight to design easy peel off labels so jars can be reused. "Mayver's" is one of them. Do you know of any others?
18.01.2022 TerraCycle is slowly and reliably making manufacturers responsible for their packaging. TerraCycle has just partnered with global giant Proctor and Gamble to pay for the return of dishwashing packaging - all brands. Brilliant work.
18.01.2022 This year, Australians are expected to spend $185.7 million on chocolate. Challenge 1: Don't purchase anything in packaging. Challenge 2: Question yourself - do you or your family need to eat more chocolate? Boycott chocolate and spend that money on some fresh fruits and local goodies. Challenge 3: Give love, give more love and give love wrapped up in hugs!! (and a second hand or home-made gift like a pot plant, fresh herbs, home-made goodies). ... I know the kids expect eggs - but it's commercialism gone rampant! Get creative. Get outdoors and enjoy healthy living xx
16.01.2022 Great message Sharon.
10.01.2022 imagine if every business had to show it's sustainability creds. Well done Currumbin RSL for taking a bold stand and displaying yours.
10.01.2022 Say no to small plastic toy giveaways and then write a note on the big supermakets' FB page saying why. We are in this together and need to educate consumers.
07.01.2022 What else can we do in 3 months?
05.01.2022 This excites me. A busy cafe in Sydney providing a place to rinse your Keep Cup or dispose of your compostable single use cup. And they have a composting org that collects and composts the cups. Hats off for encouraging the reuse and recycling of our caffeine fix by-products. #Single O.
02.01.2022 Recycling is only one level above landfill. How can we encourage innovation at a micro level to a) support and help set up micro industries that reuse resources b) platforms to help others access used resources?
02.01.2022 This says it all. It is easy get overwhelmed by the big issues. If we all do the best we can to avoid and reuse, that's awesome! It does have a ripple effect.
