18.01.2022 Its time to share what we have been doing since our Birthday post in March. We are over the moon to announce that we are relocating Blue Moon Collectables. Sign...age on the new site went up today, so the cat is already out of the bag, or the cow has jumped over the moon, aka word is out. So it was time to let you all know. Robert and I have given the move much consideration over many months of debate. We were looking for a community feel and a more ideal location in keeping with Antiques and Collectables. A new home for the 30yr legacy of Blue Moon Collectables after taking over the ownership from Kimberly and David 2 years ago. The business was established in Serpentine for nearly 20 yrs then moved to Port Kennedy for another 8 yrs. They sold the business to Robert in February 2018 and since then we have worked hard at expanding the range and variety of stock and reached more followers and customers. The location in Port Kennedy has not been ideal. Locals still stumble across us while on errands up the street and are surprised to find such a store in a semi industrial location. We were looking for a sense of community and old time values, where people stop and talk in the street and businesse's support one another. We were impressed after initial talks with Murray District stake holders that the Shire has such a clear vision about the direction of its township and a weekend tourist destination. What better location that the historic town of Pinjarra! Shop 1/ 5742 South West Highway, Pinjarra, Western Australia 6208 We are looking forward to having new customers discover our treasure trove and we are hoping our local Rockingham/Port Kennedy customers will follow us over. Its only 38kms/30mins away from you, and Perth customers its only 85kms/60 minutes. In fact it's a more direct route to Pinjarra via the freeway, or an amble down South Western Highway than to our Port Kennedy location. You can even cut across from the freeway and take a little country detour on Paterson Rd that will lead you to our door. Mandurah customers should be delighted we are closer, as with our Bunbury and South West customers. There is so much more to see and do in Pinjarra than on Bakewell Drive. Once life returns to normal (with Covid-19) there are several lunch options. A not to miss food and beverage stop is Jarra Infusion owned by Nicki, who is a champion campaigner for all things community focused. Pinjarra also has the Dome and the Premier hotel does good food and cold beer. The heritage listed Edenvale Homestead has great tearooms that do light lunches and Devonshire teas and co located is the Murray Arts and Crafts Society, the Pinjarra Patchwork and Quilters Group, the Roger May Machinery Museum as well as the Murray District Historical Society's Gallery. All set amongst lovely lawned gardens including a rose garden across from the grounds of St Johns Church where district Pioneer's tomb stones can be found. The Pinjarra Mens Shed, the Community Gardens, the Race grounds and Hotham Valley Railway are across the road from us, we are across the bridge from town central heading North. There is BIG signage, you cant miss us. There is another niche Antiques, giftwares and treasure shop run by Nicola, Ashdown and Webber, as well as the Pinjarra 2nd Hand Goods and Furniture store. Even better reasons to make the trek over to see us. The Shire are doing a great job at revitilising the river frontage, which offers great walks and family focused areas. The Pinjarra Junction Shopping Centre has expanded and there are a variety of takeaway eateries on the George Street strip. A special mention to Jenny and her girls at DD's Boutique. Ladies you wont find another fashion store in the vicinity anything like it! Have I sold you all on the concept of our move yet? We already know Tuckeys Hardware is going to be our most frequent drop in for supplies store with the renovations undertaken. Its been a mammoth job turning a 2 yrs vacant building from a grease and oil Mower Sales and Repairs shop into a showroom. The cleaning has been a phenomenal task. Thanks to Nick the owner for coming to the negotiation table and agreeing on replacing the damaged ceiling (roof repairs as well), new lights, upgrades to power, a new bathroom and kitchen cupboards/bench etc. Thanks to Jay from Fergusons's Carpentry (a Pinjarra local) for helping with that. A big shout out to Chris from W.A Surface Preparation, a Pinjarra local who put in the big effort of cleaning up and grinding away at 220 m2 of concrete to get the floor respectable enough for us to seal and paint, not an easy job. Wayne from Lockdown Security (local Mandurah Company) for getting the security system functional, the team from JMac Airconditioning (another local Mandurah Company) for installing the 2 aircon units without much fuss, Sadie from Impact Signs (Mandurah too). We both feel we have made lasting friendships with Stuart and his wife Chris from Mahogany Creek, who we purchased the new display cabinets from. Not only was he reasonable with his pricing, but he agreed to store them until we were ready (much longer than anticipated) and he rolled up his sleeves from 10am until 430pm helping us wrap, pack and load the precious cargo. Chris provided a cheese board to share on purchase day and morning tea on load day, much appreciated hospitality. The rest has been hard work and elbow grease by Robert and myself. I dont want to look at another bottle of sugar soap or a tin of paint in a long time. Anyway long story, but one worth telling. We hope to start moving the stock over the next few weeks and aim to be open within a month. Follow us on Facebook for more updates, shop hours etc as we get closer to a date. We are waiting for NBN, Merchant Banking facilities, computer systems etc along the way. We are still open by appointment at the Port Kennedy location. Here are some pictures so far of how the fit out is progressing. Thanks guys.
