24.01.2022 Waterfront Living by Lyndoch Living resident Camille loved listening to stories about her grandfather Mr James Rea. During the early 1900's James grew oats and chaff. His crops were some of the best in the region, which is why he delivered chaff and oats to the Warrnambool Racing Club during the May Racing Carnival. James would start his day early on the farm in Naringal, loading up the horse and wagon to make his way into Warrnambool each day to complete the delivery. Wi...th a mix of English and Irish heritage, James and his family always had a great love of horses, passing this passion down to Camille's father. During this era, it was the only mode of transport, and Camille remembered as a 5-year-old riding her pony bareback to school with her siblings. She does remember having a few falls but always managed to get straight back on. Later in life, Camille and her husband would regularly attend the May Racing Carnival, where she would take great delight in dressing in her finery. #getbusyliving #ageingwell #retirementliving #lyndochliving #stayactive #stayyoung #livewell #greatstorieshappenhereeveryday #thebool #MayRacingCarnival

01.01.2022 Meet Joan and June :- Joan Bottrell and June O'Keefe have been friends for many years. They were residents of Waterfront Living for many of those years.... June and Joan attended weekly exercise classes in the ground floor Community Services gymnasium for years, and when it moved over to The Stables they were thrilled to have this facility so close to home. They were members of the Lyndoch Auxiliary (June joined in 1983 and Joan in 1987). Together they have contributed to fundraising and entertainment for the Lyndoch residents for over 30 years. Joan is well known in the community for her baking and preserves and both are regular visitors and 'helpers' at events. Last year June moved into the Lyndoch Hostel and Joan was a bit lost without her friend close by, and found the trek up the hill to visit a bit tiring. Our Waterfront Living team, using an electric golf cart, can transport residents of the retirement village around the Lyndoch site, to Cafe Connect, appointments at Pure Living Hair & Beauty, the Barber Shop, the podiatrist, attend community events and to socialise with their friends in the Lyndoch hostel and nursing home. #Greatstorieshappenhereeveryday #GetBusyLiving #WaterfrontLiving #LifeatLyndoch #electricgolfcart
