19.01.2022 Election day: Revive Thyself with coffee & art at Waterline Art Gallery Ettalong Beach! Featured artist Barbara Newton. Barbara has had a long fascination with landscape painting. Barbara is enamoured by trees: their beautiful bark and the way they relate to one another. Her series of works were based on the trees around Good Forrest, a small place on the road to the Jenolan Caves. It is the landscapes and vistas of this very picturesque patch of the mountains that have been taken up with vigour in Barbaras most recent works.

17.01.2022 Verve exhibition artist Sarah Edmondsons art practice extends traditional approaches to printmaking. Her innovative usage ofscreen-printing, embossing, archival prints and needlepoint tapestry; is underpinned with her masterful command of colour. This post shows portions of Sarah's art from her Beautiful Brain series. Sarah collages her original charcoal drawings of small, enlarged portions of MRI brain scans together with her screen-prints of popular prints from her childhood era. References to optical art illustrates how things are not always what they seem and illuminates the mystery of the mind. Sarahs conceptual markers are reinforced with a pleasing aesthetic value which celebrates the beautiful brain.

17.01.2022 This weekend visit Alicia Douglas' wildly atmospheric art: 'I began painting oil painting at around 10 years of age and haven't stopped! With 16 years experience exhibiting my art; I now live and work out of a studio in Sydney. I am greatly inspired by the beautiful landscapes close to home as well as enjoying inspiration from far away lands. These works are part of a series of landscape paintings titled Space and Silence. Inspired by the highlands of Scotland the paintings explore the vast, quiet and isolated landscapes of the region. They are a reflection of the visual experience combined with an emotional response to an environment so overwhelming in its scale and tranquillity. Colour sings through the trees and suggestions of composition, form, texture and palette emerge for me and connects beautifully with my chosen medium, pastel. The pastel stick becomes my brush as the immediacy and vibrancy comes to life before my eyes.
