24.01.2022 Naked Run 2020 'The First' Riesling being poured by the glass at the Watervale Hotel. Congratulations to Steve Baraglia and Naked Run Wines for being awarded four trophies for this wine at the recent Clare Valley Wine Show - The coveted Mick Knappstein Trophy for best current vintage Riesling, as well as best Riesling, best overall wine, and best single vineyard wine. We want to give everyone the chance to try this amazing Riesling rated amongst the best ever made in the region.



23.01.2022 Clos Clare Cellar Door might be closed, but you can try their great Riesling at the Watervale Hotel by the glass. The 2019 is drinking exceptionally well. All of the lemon and lime you expect from a Watervale Riesling, but soft, with subtle acid finish.

23.01.2022 Mr Hyde Nebbiolo is back on by the glass at the Watervale Hotel. This Nebiollo is grown at the Mount Surmon vineyard north of Clare. It exhibits pinot noir like weight, lovely floral nose, attractive fruit, and long grippy tannin - hence the name - the 'Pole Dancer'. Mr Hyde is Kilikanoon's experimental label which gives winemakers the chance to explore alternative varieties and different vinification techniques.

22.01.2022 Congratulations to Kirrihill Winery. Over the past two weeks the 2018 'The Squire' Shiraz has been awarded Gold Medals at the NZ Wine Show and the London Wine Challenge and DOUBLE Gold at the San Francisco Sommmeliers Awards. This wine featured at the recent 'Political Roast at the Watervale Hotel. We have decided to put it on by the glass to celebrate at $12 / glass, great value for such accolades!

19.01.2022 Italian Wine Dinner - Tuesday 24th November The Watervale Hotel will host an Italian Wine dinner from 7pm on Tuesday 24th November, immediately after the Clare Valley Winemakers and Grapegrowers AGM at O’Leary Walker. We will match Italian Food to five Northern Italian wines - the Suavia Soave Classico, Pandolfa Sangiovese Superiore, two contrasting Dolcetto D’Albas from Cerreto and the highly acclaimed Bruno Giacosa, and finishing with Alasia Moscato D’Asti. Canadian Chef ...Sheldon Guindon - a closet Italian and wood fire maestro - will create the menu inspired by our beautiful local produce, along with Nicola and the rest of the Watervale Hotel kitchen team. $150 / head for food and wines. 19.01.2022 Re-opening Sunday for all day dining 11am to 9pm everyday. We have enjoyed a few days off, cleaned the beer lines, and taken the opportunity to add a few new local and European wines on the list and by the glass. We obviously cancelled the Italian dinner planned for Tuesday night, and we do not have the deliveries or prep time to re-instate it now. One for later. With social distancing restrictions in place space in the dining room is restricted so bookings are strongly recommended. However, we have so many private and special spaces that we should be able to accommodate you. We can also take special functions in the beer garden for up to the allowed 50. 17.01.2022 Cocktails at the Watervale Hotel We have two new barmen at the Watervale Hotel. Frenchman Guillaume has run his own Cocktail Bar in Nice. He is a 'Flair' Barman. You will have to ask him to show you what that means. English Oliver is pretty handy with a shaker as well. They have created new cocktails using syrups and ingredients from Penobscot Farm that taste great.

15.01.2022 Skillogalee Chardonnay on by the glass at the Watervale Hotel. We have returned to Clare from the Adelaide Hills to show the versatility of our great region. Estate grown in the cool wet Skillogalee Valley and lovingly crafted by Dave Palmer and his team. Subtle and finessed. Perfect with our chicken dishes.

14.01.2022 (Almost) Business as Usual Due to our size and spaces the current COVID restrictions will not compromise the Watervale Hotel and its patrons too much. We can take bookings for up to 10 in the dining rooms, and private functions for up to 18 in the Hell Hole and 50 in the Beer Garden. 02.01.2022 Enjoy Christmas Lunch at the Watervale Hotel. We will be firing up the 'Fires of Hell' BBQ on Christmas Day for a $120 / head set menu lunch. Nicola has been pretty tight lipped about the final menu, but I understand there will be fresh prawns, crayfish and turkey arriving next week. She promises to make it festive and fresh!
