25.01.2022 CANCELLED Sorry people. From Team PK: It is with a heavy heart we advise that we have decided to cancel the show.... We are very disappointed that we are unable to play these shows, but we know its the right decision based on the information we have today. The venues will keep details of all ticket buyers, so you will have first option to buy tickets if we are able to play next year. Please contact the point of purchase to seek a full refund. In the meantime, thank you for your understanding and please stay safe. Refunds will be available at the Tav for those who purchased tickets there. 24.01.2022 A bit of a quick Coronavirus update - Restrictions now mean that we can no longer accommodate our usual number of patrons, not only for meals but also at the bar, something that people should consider during traditionally busier times. Our main priority is to keep our community safe and well - but patrons should be aware that these measures are mandatory, and we are legally obliged to comply. And there will be more disruptions ahead, of that there is no doubt. Not ideal, obviously - but we know well get through this doing what LTB locals do best, supporting each other, looking out for each other, making sure everybody stays safe. Cheers.

21.01.2022 AND THE RESULTS ARE . . . Firstly, we had a great response, over 190 votes cast across multiple platforms, so a huge thank you to everybody who wanted to have an input into the Tavs future. Amongst the comments, many of the Ns suggested reinstating the wheel. It was a fair point, and so we felt that we should take this opportunity to address the wheels removal, and why we cant put it back. ... The wheel had to be removed because it was unsafe to operate and, in the end, not particularly safe just standing there either (especially with its apparently irresistible need to be climbed upon). Exposure to our cruel coastal clime had wrought a terrible toll over the years, so that repairing the wheel basically meant replacing it something that, at modern costs, with modern tradespeople, would have seen everybody enjoying twenty-dollar pots well into the twenty-second century. But the cost of replacement, enormous as that wouldve been, was not the only problem - the wheel was also overtaken by modern OH&S and liability realities. Our whimsical and potentially deadly person-crushing novelty, were it rebuilt, wouldve been compelled to exist within a fully enclosed steel cage, further protected by outrageous ongoing premiums. In the end, the wheel went the way of optional seat belts and smoking in pubs; a fondly remembered relic of a less risk averse/aware time. And thats the real reason why, sadly, it can never come back (in its original operational form, anyway . . . stay tuned). Some further points before we get to the numbers: We counted every bring back the wheel suggestion as a N. We counted every new name suggestion as a Y. These numbers include our Instagram and FB page, and the five share pages we can see (so most of the shares we cant see, probably due to privacy settings), so if you think youve got game-changing numbers on your FB share, give us a coo-ee. Voting occurred over one week, as posted Thursday August 13 to Thursday August 20 And so, without further ado, the numbers are: Yes, we think its time for a change: 107 No it aint: 83 The Ys have it! 18.01.2022 Originally the Waterwheel Taverns name showcased Ron Morleys iconic attraction, the amazing timber waterwheel. It was a name that brought visitors out to Lake Tyers Beach to marvel at our impressive engineering novelty. It made sense. But ever since our great namesake had to be removed, the Waterwheel has suffered from an identity crisis. Increasingly, the only thing our name evokes in visitors is a feeling of mild confusion, which is not, from a promotional viewpoint, idea...l. Increasingly, we feel like our name doesnt make sense any more. And were thinking it might be time for a change. But what do you think? We genuinely believe that the Tav belongs to our community, and any changes we did make would only come from our community. If we were to go down this path, wed want YOU TO COME UP WITH THE NEW NAME. That name change could be as simple as dropping the Waterwheel . . . or something completely new, something that referenced the history, the character of Lake Tyers. That would be entirely up to you. But first things first. We are proposing changing the current name, which is the Waterwheel Beach Tavern. DO YOU THINK ITS TIME FOR A CHANGE? 18.01.2022 A quick update to let everyone know that we are still yet to reopen, and the plans that we did have to reopen have been put on hold, at least for the moment. The good news is that our Chefs are back on deck and the place is gearing up - but our reopening is contingent on factors beyond our control, and it is simply not viable for us to reopen whilst the current restrictions are still in place. Not ideal, of course, its frustrating, and exhausting, but we appreciate that we are living through a global pandemic, and that things could be much worse. 13.01.2022 Ironically, today was the day we expected to announce our re-opening. Instead, after twenty weeks closed, were now looking at another six. But we have not been idle, and we wont be sitting on our hands now, either the Tav has undergone improvements across the board, and when we do re-open, the place will be better than ever! Unfortunately, we also have to announce today that the eagerly anticipated Paul Kelly with Angus and Julia Stone show, with special guest Harry Hoo...key, has been pushed back to Friday November 20. As with the previous postponement, the existing tickets will be valid for this new date. If you are unable to make it then, refunds will be available, up until October 1. We are currently working towards re-opening, and although we cant put a precise date on when that might be just yet, we are (very) cautiously optimistic that it wont be too long now. 07.01.2022 We just wanted to let everyone know that the recent easing of restrictions has had very little impact on the numbers we can have at the Tav. The new maximum of 40 indoor patrons is contingent on 10 patrons per separate area - we have 2 indoor spaces, so our indoor seating remains unchanged at 20. The outdoor maximum of 70 still needs to conform to density quotients, so whilst our outdoor numbers have theoretically expanded from 50 to a maximum of 66, this number could only be reached if all of the tables were full, which is of course never the case. So whilst every step in the right direction is extremely welcome, there has been no real change . . . yet. Again, thank you everybody for your ongoing support and patience.
