24.01.2022 Flu Vaccines now available at WGP, Please call our lovely reception on (6248 7005) to book yours in!

23.01.2022 We are open to new patients! If you need a GP or think friends or family would like our service, please feel free to recommend us. Please note that new government policy means that in order to access Telehealth with a Medicare rebate, patients must have visited the practice within the last 12 months. Alternatively you can always Telehealth a doctor privately without a rebate.

23.01.2022 Private influenza vaccines are now available - ring and get yours ASAP. This year more than ever, we need as many people to get vaccinated as possible. We still have free government flu vaccines for those who qualify, and are still giving regular child and 65+ immunisations. So take some time out from iso and arrange your shots today :)

23.01.2022 It's Asthma Awareness Week from 1-7 September! If you haven't seen your GP for a while, early spring is a great time to take a breather and review your asthma

23.01.2022 Since the first case of #COVID19 in the ACT, almost half of us have stopped seeing our GPs. We know you may be reluctant to venture out after practising physica...l distancing for so long, but rest assured that GP clinics and other health services across Canberra are safe to attend. Across Canberra, healthcare facilities have additional health and safety precautions in place, including physical distancing procedures, to keep everyone safe from COVID-19. And many even offer telehealth services (online and over-the-phone appointments) where you can still get health advice and prescriptions without having to leave home. If you have a chronic health illness it’s important to see your GP regularly so you stay as healthy as possible. If you need to see a GP, use the ‘find a health service’ function at http://findahealthservice.act.gov.au

22.01.2022 This COVID thing is tricky. People can be well but infectious for several days before they get symptoms. Distancing and hand-washing remain key, but masks on everyone can help where proximity can’t be avoided. So we stand with Victoria and have universal mask wearing inside the practice. Patients are welcome to bring in their own mask, or will be provided with a surgical mask on entry. Let’s all do our little bit and keep each other safe!

22.01.2022 Let’s stick together while staying apart! Telehealth is now available to everyone in Australia to help keep you safe at home, away from COVID-19. Book your appointment online at wgp.net.au or call the practice from 8:30am Monday on 6248 7005

19.01.2022 Under a new Public Health Direction, effective 11.59am today (Friday 18 December 2020) the Northern Beaches Local Government Area (LGA) has been declared a C...OVID-affected area. Do not to travel to the Northern Beaches area of Sydney at this time. People from the Northern Beaches area should also not travel to the ACT. Anyone who has visited the Northern Beaches area from Friday 11 December 2020 must self-quarantine for 14 days from the date they were last there and get tested, even if they do not have symptoms. People must stay in quarantine for the whole 14 days even if they have a negative test result. Anyone who has been in an affected location identified by @NSW Health (https://www.nsw.gov.au/covid-19/latest-news-and-updates) should follow the advice on the NSW website and contact the ACT Health COVID-19 team on (02) 5124 9213 for further advice. With demand for testing currently at high levels, we ask those impacted by this direction to immediately quarantine, organise their testing for later in the day and be patient with staff at our testing clinics. A reminder there are a number of testing sites across the ACT. Find a testing clinic on the COVID-19 website (https://www.covid19.act.gov.au//symptoms-and-getting-teste.) This remains a rapidly evolving situation and we will keep the community informed as more information comes to hand.

17.01.2022 As of today, your Medicare rebate for Telehealth services has decreased due to government decisions. From today the same billing policy will apply to face-to-face and Telehealth consultations so you may face a gap fee at the end of your consultation. Primary care needs your support to remain viable, so if this issue concerns you please reach out to your MP.

01.01.2022 Have you been to Sydney in the last two weeks? In recent days, the number of COVID-19 cases in Sydney has increased. Any ACT residents who have travelled to NS...W in the past 14 days must keep up to date with the latest @NSWHealth alerts on affected locations and health advice. Anyone who has recently travelled to Greater Sydney should be vigilant for even very minor COVID-19 symptoms, and immediately get tested and isolate at home if symptoms develop. Symptoms include fever, cough, sore throat and shortness of breath. The list of locations in NSW where COVID cases have visited is frequently updated, so it is important to check regularly if you have travelled to NSW in the previous 14 days. You’ll find the latest updates from NSW Health at https://www.nsw.gov.au/covid-19/latest-news-and-updates.
