22.01.2022 Mill Park would like to welcome our new under 19s coach Conner Fitzgerald
22.01.2022 Great to see our Netballers back on deck last night training and working hard towards to restart of all competitions. We wish them all the best and we’re hoping to have something to cheer about as the season goes on! Further information about the restart can be found here: http://nfnl.org.au/junior-football-and-netball-proposed-s/
22.01.2022 The time has come to announce the retirement of another Watsonia legend. A man who for the best part of 8 years was the first magnet placed on the board for the senior side, the most dependable full back the club has ever seen, none other than Graeme Hines. Coming from Greensborough, somehow he made his way down Grimshaw Street and stumbled upon AK Lines. From that day on, week in and week out he took the toughest assignment and more often than not got the chocolates, his re...sume of forwards beaten is one to be rivalled. Some games there were more mouth guards thrown than kicks, but that never mattered to Hinesy. The highlight coming in 2016 when he was tremendous all season, which was capped off with Watsonia capturing the elusive senior premiership. But amazingly Hinesy was just as noted for what he did off the field. From disappearing to the race track by himself on footy trip, holding down the corner under sky racing at every function, his unforgettable fines every Thursday night and catchphrases on the track *could be your week*. There will never be a more unique man to come through Watsonia. We have no doubt when football returns, we will still see you regularly, all the best Hinesy.
19.01.2022 EXCITING NEWS!!!! It is with great pleasure we can announce the signing of our reserves coach Matt Crawford for 2021. Crawf is a respected and valued long time member of the saints. He officially announced his retirement in 2019 after a Steller career wearing the red white and black. Crawf finishes his career as a two time premiership player and in 2016 he was selected in the team of the year. ... Crawf will be a great asset to our coaching panel and we can’t wait to see the boys excel with him leading the way.
18.01.2022 Crawf: We know he will absolutely hate this, but the time has come to acknowledge one of our premiership stars, as he quietly slips into retirement without actually announcing it. With the season looking bleak and his body getting larger we’ve been forced to take it into our own hands to announce his retirement. Matt Crawford,or ‘Crawf’ as he is more affectionately known as came to the club in 2007 to play in our newly reformed U19 team, dragged down to have a kick with mat...es, it’s fair to say that footy wasn’t his 1st priority. Having been thrown into the ruck as a youngster, when not that tall was a big ask, but to Crawf’s credit he stuck to it, learnt the craft and 10 years later he was a named in div 3 team of the year, the same year he took the bulk of the load in the 2016 grand final to get us home to our 1st flag 30 years. Add to this the reserves flag in 2013 and Crawf has been one of the most decorated players at Watsonia with loyalty to match. He has been a great mentor/friend to some of his other ruck understudies, his knowledge and experience a standout. Also would be remiss of us not to mention he is one of the founders of the shower crew, a place where he also excelled. So good luck Crawf whatever you decide to do with your winters, we hope it’s behind the glass enjoying a beer. From all at Watsy. Thanks Crawf. PS. We’ll miss your long bombs from 70 - good work big Donga.
16.01.2022 Greensborough Cricket Club needs your help. It has been a trying time for local sporting clubs in and around the Diamond Valley with the impacts of covid hitting hard. Our good friends at Greensborough Cricket Club, who a number of Watsonia players have donned the whites for are expecting a significant drop in revenue for the upcoming 20/21 season. ... Both clubs have built a solid relationship, particularly over the past 1-2 years, culminating in the Bushfire Relief match earlier in 2020 which raised much needed funds for those affected by the terrible bushfires. Greensborough CC in conjunction with the ‘Toyota Good for Cricket’ raffle are hoping to raise as much money as possible through the sale of raffle tickets to ensure they head in to 20/21 in a strong position, as well as the coming years ahead. Tickets & prize details can be purchased/found through this link here: https://toyotagoodforcricket.raffletix.com.au/greensborough
15.01.2022 GREAT NEWS!!! These boys came across at the start of the 2020 season. With this year not going ahead they have committed to stay with the saints. Jacob Pickett, Jesse Presser and Xavier Cahill have all put pen to paper for season 2021.

11.01.2022 A message from senior coach George Lattouf
10.01.2022 Good luck to the Watsonia Netball Club as they play there first summer season game tonight. Go saints
10.01.2022 Congratulations go out to former Watsonia coach Lochy Dornauf on winning the NTFA Premiership with the Deloraine Football Club down in Tasmania over the weekend. Lochy was a revelation in his first and only year in 2013 and was the catalyst in turning the Saints from wooden spooners to grand finalists, was rewarded with winning the NFNL Division 3 best-and-fairest and selected in the Division 3 Team of the Year. Lochy has proven to be an asset on and off the field at any cl...ub that he has been apart of and is a very deserving winner. Well done Lochy from everyone at the Watsonia Sporting Club. See more
10.01.2022 So far in 2020 the exciting moments have been few and far between, so it is with great pleasure that tonight we are able to deliver some exciting news. In the past week, we have had a number of our senior list recommit fo the club for season 2021. We are absolutely delighted to announce that 2019 Club Champion Daniel Watson, our 2019 Senior Co-Captains Adrian Alfonsi and Ben Sutherland, premiership wingmen Kyle Kemp and Jamie Haber, gun on-ball pair Michael Perfetto and Josh Novelli, as well as young guns Ben McKenzie, Kobe Van Zwienen and Teague Van Zwienen are all on board for next year. It is a testament to the loyalty of these guys and the culture that has been built down at AK Lines that even without a season going ahead, the boys are already committed to our bright future.
09.01.2022 Some words from President Allan Hunter after the passing of former Watsonia Senior Coach, Gavan Taylor. I first met Gav back in 2005 when Watsonia Sporting club was struggling to survive in the competition. A member of our committee recommended Gav, a bloke who had coached before and was not coaching at the time and might be able to help out. We decided to get in touch with him and the rest is history. To have lived in Yarraville and come to Watsonia FC to coach a side that... was struggling said a lot about Gav. While not always the most talented sides, Gav’s team had a heart as big as he did, which from a club perspective was great to be a part of. Gav only coached for that year but came back in 2011 and 2012 to once again help out. He will always be remembered for someone who played a big part in getting Watsonia back on track and where we are today. Players who played under him or were around the club during his tenure will know that some of his catch phrases ‘bangerang,’ ‘you can lead a horse to water,’ and others that won’t be posted, still come out late in the evening during functions. From everybody at the club including past and present players, committee members and supporters our condolences to Gav’s family. The loss of a great man who will always be remembered in our hearts. RIP
09.01.2022 It’s official

08.01.2022 COACHING ANNOUNCEMENT: Further good news this evening with Senior Coach George Lattouf re-committing for next season. George brings great enthusiasm, diligence and energy to the role, as well as being a great leader for the club. George has developed a strong rapport with the players since taking over the role and has really enhanced our culture to make it what it is today. We’re super thrilled to have him continue in the role. He will be joined by the following, who have als...o committed to their roles for next season: Jeremy Bennett (Senior Assistant) along with Club Vice President Scott Barnett. Club Legend and games record holder Warren Harris also rounds out the panel. We can look forward now to 2021 with the right people in the key football roles which will give us the best chance for success.
07.01.2022 Vale Norman Ferguson It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Norman Ferguson, Life Member of the Watsonia Football Netball Club Some recollections from Club President Mr Allan Hunter... Normie was a long time member and contributor to our club, originally being involved in the junior and senior programs when his son Ian was playing with Watsonia Norm was a regular on the on the committee and was club delegate for the senior club when I first arrived back in 1993. He was given the privilege of life membership in 1990, the year Collingwood won the flag ( Normie was a Carlton man so that comment would've pissed him off) and it was well deserved. Norm became a Life Member of the NFL the following year for his years of work and dedication to Football Over the years Normie was always a regular attendee of our home games to watch the boys play whether they good times or bad. He would get the footy record and keep the goal kickers for the game All you would hear from him was "who kicked that?" so we had to concentrate on goal kickers too! He would also walk down to the club on some training nights, weather permitting and have a couple of VB stubbies and watch the boys train. Normie will be greatly missed at Watsy, but will always be remembered! To his wife Cathy (a past secretary of our club) and family, we send our condolences When we eventually get back on the field, we will show the respect he deserves and wear the black arm band with pride RIP Normie Allan Hunter Watsonia Sporting Club

06.01.2022 Usually footy clubs don’t roll out the red carpet on social media for signings that will predominantly feature in the 12 o’clock game. But with 3 icons of the football club returning to the fold for 2021, we couldn’t look past it. As these are not the traditional signings, we thought we would announce it in a less than traditional manner. A big thanks to Gary Ring our chief content creator for the incredible impersonation. Welcome back to returning premiership players Ben Weissenfeld, John Perichon and local journeyman Daniel Boulton. Who have returned to join what is shaping up to be a well seasoned and competitive reserves side to go along with our great signings in the seniors.
05.01.2022 Our Netballers practicing social distancing and getting a little creative during isolation! Hopefully we are back on the court soon! #WatsyWay
05.01.2022 Get around our very own Xavier Cahill and a great cause this May! Xav will be running 50km this month to raise money and awareness for MS, an awesome effort! https://www.themay50k.org/fun/xaviercahill/the-may-50k-run

05.01.2022 The signings just keep coming as we have the following players committing to the 2021 season. Nathan Wyles, Jake Leslie, Riley Taylor, Julian Janev, Jordan Kubeil, Kyle Wheatley, Fraser Kubeil, ... Oliver Janev, Julian Rullo, Gary Ring. Go saints

02.01.2022 Congratulations to Scooter on his appointment. A Watsonia legend who will no doubt lead the side with distinction for 2021 & beyond. We are also thrilled to continue our alignment with MPFC and look forward to growing and developing the future stars of tomorrow.
02.01.2022 More exciting news: The re-signings keep coming as we ramp up preparations for the 2021 season. We are pleased to announce that premiership defender Xavier Kelly has recommitted to the club for next season, after a successful return to Watsonia last year that saw him finish in the top 3 of the best and fairest. Xavier brings wonderful run, ball use, leadership and commitment to the football club. ... Alongside Xavier, his premiership teammate Jack Larkin returns to Watsonia after missing last season. A creative half forward and elite user of the ball, ‘Squid’ will be a welcome addition to the senior side. Further, the club has also had young gun trio Riley Taylor, Jordan Kubeil and Kyle Wheatley recommit for 2021. These guys have been dominant at U/19s level and did not look out of place playing senior football last year. Finally, one of the great leaders and clubmen Ryan Eley, who has captained the reserves for the past two seasons, has recommitted to Watsonia.
01.01.2022 Huge thanks to our friends and major sponsor Northern Motor Group for the impeccable service and advice! Here is Lisa collecting her brand new Kia Rio. Many years of happy driving ahead
