24.01.2022 Great to be back in my old State electorate to help launch the campaign for Danielle Shankey - Shankey4Everton with fellow former MPs Rod Welford and Glenn Milliner and some of the best Labor members you’ll ever meet. As a local working mum, Danielle knows we need more investment, not more LNP cuts, to help the local economic recovery.
23.01.2022 Hit the campaign trail with Ali King - Labor for Pumicestone today and we had some great chats on the doors, like this one with Penny. Penny’s voting Labor because we’re building a huge expansion to the local hospital, which she and her mum depend on. She remembers Campbell Newman and Deb Frecklington cutting nurses, last time they were in power. Penny’s not going to let that happen again. Ali’s got a great team and they’re doing a terrific job standing up for this region. Let’s all get behind Ali and all our local candidates.
19.01.2022 This reckless preference deal from Deb Frecklington & the LNP risks the balance of power being held by a ragtag coalition of Greens, Katter, One Nation & other MPs. This is the worst possible time for Qld to face this sort of instability.
18.01.2022 Great day in Bundy with our fab candidate Tom Smith for Bundaberg and his team. Visits to CQUniversity Australia, Bundaberg Sugar Mill and lots of talk about needing more investment in skills and manufacturing. Definitely no more LNP cuts!
17.01.2022 Headed up the range today to support Chris Meibusch, a long term Toowoomba community activist, and our candidate for the Groom by-election. Chris and his team are working hard to stop the LNP taking the local community for granted. Best of luck this weekend Chris!
17.01.2022 We learned today that more than 30,000 older Australians have died over the last 3 years, while sitting on the waiting list for in-home aged care. The Morrison Government’s treatment of our elderly is shameful.
17.01.2022 Scott Morrison spent weeks singling out Qld over border management. Now he sends troops to help other states with their borders, but won’t do it for Qld. Why does he always have one rule for Qld and another for the rest?
17.01.2022 Here’s the link to my speech to today’s Developing Northern Australia Conference in Rocky. Key points: * COVID gives us a once in a lifetime opportunity to reset the Northern Australia agenda, with people moving north for the first time in years.... * Unlike our political opponents, Labor supports our traditional industries AND our new ones. Those arguing we can only have one or the other just hold the north back. * We should treasure every job in ag, mining and tourism, but also grab the north’s big opportunities in renewables, advanced manufacturing & other emerging industries. * Renewables, backed up by batteries, pumped hydro or gas, can deliver the north the cheapest industrial power, giving us an unfair competitive advantage over the world and fuelling our industrial resurgence. * Yes, tackling climate change can CREATE jobs. This is exactly what Albo has been saying as Labor Leader, since his very first vision statement in Perth last year. * But it needs action from the Morrison Govt. As a start, they must bring forward northern infrastructure, invest in skills and increase engagement with First Nations communities. The north can lead the nation out of recession. Let’s do it! I’d love to hear your thoughts.
16.01.2022 Some parties talk about change. Jackie Trad actually gets it done: Abortion law reform Environmental protection Better schools for local kids... A great doorknock with my old friend in West End today.
15.01.2022 Another day of announcements from Scotty today. But will we ever see the money? Watch this and you’ll see why
14.01.2022 Celebrating the victory of light over darkness at #Diwali with my friends from Federation of Indian Communities of Queensland (FICQ) | Australia & Queensland Labor colleagues.
12.01.2022 Now the LNP-Greens preference deal covers even more seats! George Christensen, Matt Canavan and Barnaby Joyce hate the Greens so much they want to elect more of them! Story here: https://www.theaustralian.com.au//13575d395d3de68dcba7549d
10.01.2022 So a Government in its eighth year in office announces a manufacturing plan that will take 10 years to deliver. Yawn.
10.01.2022 As Anthony Albanese has been saying for months, we should value jobs in our north’s traditional industries and also chase the new ones. Our north is sick of the LNP-Greens culture war that says we can only have one or the other.
10.01.2022 Why is it always someone else's fault and someone else's job with this Prime Minister?
09.01.2022 This week millions of dollars in support was ripped out of Queensland businesses by the Morrison Government’s cuts to JobKeeper. I’ve been speaking to businesses all week who are already hurting. Listen to what one of them has to say...
09.01.2022 Can there be any greater failure by a government than what we’ve seen in aged care? A failure to plan that led to over 650 unnecessary deaths of our loved ones?
07.01.2022 Today Albo launches Labor’s vision for economic recovery. Jobs and skills for Australians, with no one left behind.
03.01.2022 Today, I start setting out an Australian Labor Party agenda for Northern Australia. Unlike our political opponents on left and right, we support our traditional industries AND our new ones. We should treasure every job in agriculture, mining and tourism, but also grab the north’s huge opportunities in renewables, advanced manufacturing & other emerging industries.... Those arguing we can only have the old or the new just hold the north back. It’s got to stop. For those wanting more, I’ll post my full speech to the Developing Northern Australia Conference later today.
02.01.2022 8 taxpayer-funded staff, an RAAF plane to jet him around Europe. Meet Matthias Cormann, Australia’s most expensive JobSeeker.
