24.01.2022 This week is Women's Health Week, a great chance to check in on your health and wellbeing. With the extra stress that COVID-19 is placing on everyone's lives at... the moment, there's no better time than now to take stock of your health and make positive changes. For more information on Women's Health Week, visit womenshealthweek.com.au.

23.01.2022 Although lockdown restrictions will impact everyone in different ways, we can all benefit from a little extra support right now. In the spirit of #GettingThroug...hThisTogether, let’s be kind, stay connected, check in with each other, and seek professional support when we need it. Here are some practical tips for looking after your mental health and wellbeing during this time: Connect with people each day. Dealing with the COVID-19 outbreak is challenging for all of us especially as physical distancing measures limit the contact we have with family, friends, and colleagues. Many people don’t reach out for help because they don’t want to feel like they are burdening someone. It’s important to check in on others, especially people who live alone and may not have close friends or family nearby. Ask if they’re OK and let them know you’re there to help. Take steps to change your drinking habits. Stress, spare time, being out of work or feeling isolated can trigger more drinking. Instead of reaching out for a drink, try moderating consumption and reaching out to a friend or free support line to talk about how you’re feeling. To speak to a real person about alcohol and other drugs and how you can best support yourself or someone you’re concerned about, you can call the National Alcohol and Other Drug Hotline on 1800 250 015, or the confidential DrugInfo line on 1300 85 85 84. Play your part. We can all make a difference to our own lives and those of others. We can encourage people to play their part and build on their skills and confidence to navigate the conversation if someone says they’re not OK. Our daily decisions protect our family, friends, and community. We can also help our healthcare and essential workers by following the most up to date health advice and supporting each other in these unusual times. If you're feeling worried or overwhelmed, support is available. Our mental health professionals are available 24/7 at the Coronavirus Mental Wellbeing Support Service on 1800 512 348.

22.01.2022 While we head into fire season, don't forget working smoke alarms are necessary for all Victorian households, all year round. We heard from Greg, a member from ...Selby Fire Brigade (CFA) who is hearing impaired and has a special system installed to ensure they can make a safe escape if a fire occurs in their home. 21.01.2022 Today I joined Vic Emergency, Fire Rescue Victoria and Forest Fire Management Victoria for the Bushfire and Natural Hazards CRC (Cooperative Research Centre) bu...shfire seasonal outlook. While we are potentially looking at fewer prolonged fires this season, this doesn’t mean our communities can be complacent. Start preparing your properties and planning for fire season when it hits. 16.01.2022 Spontaneous ignition is the leading cause of haystack fire in Victoria, and just one damp bale is enough to ignite a haystack. There are a number of things you ...can do to minimise the likelihood of a haystack fire starting on your property, including: Make sure hay is well cured before bailing Know the history of the hay you purchase Keep haystacks to a limited size Monitor moisture and temperature of your hay regularly Watch for unusual odours - such as pipe tobacco, caramel, burning or musty smells. Keep your haystacks safe as the weather starts to warm

13.01.2022 Today, the Bushfire and Natural Hazards CRC released its seasonal outlook for December to February. Average to above average rainfall during spring, combined wi...th an outlook of above average rainfall for much of Victoria, indicates we will experience a less severe bushfire season this summer but an increased risk of grass fire. Here’s what Victoria’s fire agencies say this means for fire risk. Fire Rescue Victoria | Forest Fire Management Victoria

02.01.2022 There was a mob of kangaroos along Lynnes Road last night around 9:30pm. Great care and slow speed was required to get home safely. They were jumping along the verge and racing up the road, even though I was driving extremely slowly. I have never seen a large group of kangaroos on this stretch of road before. Take care.

01.01.2022 Many Wattle Bank residents have relied on this business for their fencing needs.

01.01.2022 Celebrate Spring and our community's resilience by decorating your letter box with wattle.
