25.01.2022 On the road again yep that’s what I’ve been doing again today I wish my life was cute puppy pictures all day every day that I could share (oh wait I don’t have a dog might need to do something about that one day) anyway clearly I’ve been stuck in the car to much this week I have started driving in the top paddock again which is awesome although today I may have almost pushed my luck with the rain over night but all was fine only a little fishtail in the paddock the rest of the farm oh it’s so wet, it’s definitely going to be a late hay and silage season this year. You can find me at @warragulfarmersmarket on Saturday and @marketsnmore at Inverloch on Sunday

25.01.2022 Chillin with the Duke after a very chilly market day on the first day of the school holidays. A big thanks to everyone who brought beef packs this month we have a few more to send out over the next few days. We have such a fantastic community that supports us it’s very rarely we have a hiccup with customers not picking things up but one of our new customers came through a brought a second pack for a family member which honestly touched my heart And we are so thankful. W...e are getting ready to head off to east gippsland tomorrow we will do deliveries along the way and pick ups on the way back on Monday. It’s going to be strange I’m only taking two of our four kids with me (plus two extras as if I could leave home without extras ). I suppose this is something that’s going to be happening allot more over the next couple of years with the kids as they are getting to that age were work is becoming a priority. As a parent I definitely want to spend as much time with them as I can before they head off on their own and it just becomes me and the Duke Ok enough of the sad stuff I hope you all have a wild adventure planned even if it’s just a day trip. . . Side note just letting you guys know from a safety point there is always someone at the farm with farm thefts on the rise the only reason I’m telling you that I’m going is that the farm is safe. If your heading off make sure you too take precautions to secure your house and rural properties. And if you see something suspicious report it let’s keep rural properties safe See more

23.01.2022 6 o’clock in the morning and I’m out in the garden trying to shift my focus from silly thoughts and the stresses of daily life. Through covid it has definitely brought out the best and worst in people that for sure my anxiety doesn’t no allow me to deal with things the way I used to it can sometimes shut me down completely for the day or weeks. I don’t talk about anxiety, depression or ptsd its a personal battle that I have but I feel as though this maybe a good time to di...scuss it only a little as this year has been distressing on all of us. This morning it was out of the house and into the garden anything to distract me from my own thoughts is a good thing if I can’t get outside I will watch YouTube or programs on farming, gardening cooking whatever isn’t a trigger (basically anything to do with conflict for me ) I talk to my friends they know when I’m struggling and help me work through whatever is troubling me. There are more things that I do and my first port of call is definitely my Dr. I do hope this wasn’t to much of a heavy subject for first thing in the morning I just want to let you know if you do suffer from any of these things that your not alone and it’s ok to talk about it. May you all have a fabulous day, and remember to be kind to yourself See more

23.01.2022 Right it’s feb, kids are all back to school, this week is all about working out new routines for the kids as the eldest son is starting Vcal studying building, and the three kids are still across two different campuses. While they have been at school Duke and I are trying to find the house my car and get the butchershop and farm back on track. February is a hard month for everyone with kids so much to organise. Lucky I have Duke to keep check on the diary and write my todo lists oh and I just got off the phone booking Duke into school as well ok I’ll try that again I’m off to school to learn how to train the Duke Right I’m off to get these kids to bed and myself, catch ya in the morning #dogsofinstagram #englishspringerspaniel #dog #puppy #puppylove

23.01.2022 We have a new arrival not the best day to enter the world but your mumma is taking very good care of you.

22.01.2022 I’m loving my zinnias at the moment they are such a great flower and last for ages as a cut flower. The topic of conversation today a#has definitely been about tomatoes and if they are going to ripen this year We are definitely on a roller coaster as far as the weather goes this season somedays I think I could start planting cold season veg then out of the blue it’s 37 degrees. My garden is definitely no were near what I planned for the season but that’s gardening for you. The farm is still so green because of the rain we keep getting and we are still trying to get a good break to cut some hay. Each year is always different no make what you plan you can never predict the season you just have to go with what Mother Nature throws at you.

22.01.2022 Just before the storm hit I managed to snap what has become my yearly Spring picture of the pears tree that greets everyone as they come down the driveway. This old tree produces a bounty of pears every year and although they are not the most beautiful pear they boy are tasty. Today has been yard day although super windy I managed to get a fair bit done I potted up of berry canes into pots and repotted my zinnias into the next size trays it’s a nail biting wait to make... sure they don’t have transplant shock and die but oh well I just have to keep going now. I do have some seedling that are ready to go out so I think I may need to really start planning exactly were I want to put thing before I start to get overwhelmed with plants. One thing I did get planted today was about five or six boxes with a bee mix in them so I’m really excited to see what plants pop up from them. I will share pictures when the pop up See more

22.01.2022 Fluffy butts are doing well they have doubled in size from last week by the end of the weekend they will need a larger space I have large bale of wood shavings coming which will keep the dry as they grow before they head out into pasture. The wood savings are then recycled back onto my garden beds to suppress the weeds and feed the soil. The morning has started off a little wet and rainy but it’s supposed to clear, Betty the Rayburn is still keeping us warm in the farmhouse we have a load of firewood to split and stack this morning and I have to get some mulch down on the bare soil in the veg garden to keep the moisture in and our veggies happy

20.01.2022 Not your typical sweet and sour but so delicious Sweet and sour meat balls with Wattlebank Park Farm beef I added some ribbons of carrot, pineapple and broccoli florets and we will have it over rice great on a cold winters night.

20.01.2022 Pork is Back !!!!! Yes we are back to @warragulfarmersmarket tomorrow with all our fresh pork cuts and we are so excited See in the morning

18.01.2022 When Nanny and Poppy aka my mum and dad turn up with fresh flowers their garden, homemade strawberry jam that poppy made from strawberries out of his garden and Nannies custard slice It was exactly what we all needed. Unfortunately the weather was horrendous for the market today boy did we cop a battering with the wind and rain Thankyou to everyone who came down and seen us and we have had so many people introduced them selves this weekend who follow us on here it’s was so... lovely to meet you all While koda and I were at the market Dylan and Harry rounded up sheep for me so when I got home all I had to do was tag them fill in some paperwork then get them over to the abs. 17.01.2022 My straw bale garden is nearly done I can’t go out and play in this morning as I have some deliveries to do but I did go and pick some flowers from the garden to bring inside as the bugs are munching on them to much this year to leave in the garden. Unfortunately we did loose one of our old hens this morning we found her yesterday I thought she was sitting on eggs but when we went over we realised she wasn’t well so we put her into the small with Ando the rooster who also r...ecuperating after he got in a fight with the rode island rooster last week. Unfortunately this morning she was gone which is sad Silage was cut again yesterday and is getting baled today and we had fresh beef come in last night so we are fully stocked with beef, lamb and pork for this weekends markets you can find me at leongatha tomorrow and Inverloch on Sunday. See you then x See more

17.01.2022 As a kid we didn’t really eat steak and even as a family of 6 now we don’t tend to sit down and have a steak dinner even though we produce it. What I do use steak for is in dishes like this where we use a small amount of steak pan fried with salt and pepper cut into thin strips and served with rice noodles peanuts sauce and veg. It’s light fresh and great for summer, I used wattlebankparkfarm scotch fillet tonight but you could use rump, porter or eye fillet. . . #pokebowl #summerentertaining #lightlunch #healthylifestyle #grassfedbeef #australianbeef #farmhousekitchen #knowwhereyourfoodcomesfrom #healthylifestyle #healthyliving

16.01.2022 Possibly one of the quickest and simplest dishes you can make baked quail eggs on a tomato sauce Fry off wattlebank Park Farm Smokey bacon and onion add capsicum zucchini and chopped tomatoes I had four half a cup of pasata and half a cup of water Add salt and pepper and what’s herbs you like I used two teaspoons of @vasilisgardenofficial mummas herb and garden mix. Give it stir and allow the veg to soften. Then crack your eggs and add our wattlebank Park Farm fetta you c...an put a lid on or place in the oven it’s ready when the eggs are cooked to your liking. Served with sourdough bread mmmmm yum yum yum is all I can say. It takes about 15 mins from start to finish. enjoy A shout out to my friend @keenbeen123 neighbour for the quail eggs it was so kind of them to think of me. And to Keenan for the strawberries I’ve been spoilt today #bakedeggs #quaileggs #quickandeasymeals See more

15.01.2022 We missed the frost the night before but Jack Frost definitely visited this morning my hose was even frozen so back to bucketing water for the chickens until is thaws out. At least the sun is shinning remember to watch for the last frost date before you plant out any tender seedlings that last thing you want is to put so much work into growing your seedlings and them freeze over night

15.01.2022 When your that tired you could take a nap anywhere Well that was a busy weekend two markets done it was awesome to be back at warragul we missed you guys yesterdays Inverloch market went really well then we came home to load sheep ready for a quick trip over to warragul this morning. I’m not going to lie I havent actually done anything for the last two hours other than sit, eat and snuggle up under a blanket because my brain ain’t functioning I thought it my help... but it didn’t lol I need to get up and get moving. Joanna and chin are both doing well they are co parenting all their piglets it’s super funny to watch when they run out of milk with Chin chin they migrate over to Joanna for a top up and yes we have all be stealing them for cuddle when we can. I can honestly say that I won’t ever grow old of piglet cuddles I hope you all have a productive week ahead See more

14.01.2022 It’s so windy outside that it’s too hard to repot these tiny little seedlings into the next size tubes so the kitchen floor it is I’m trying to recycle as many containers that I have to grow the seedlings in the little take away containers have had three sets of seedlings in them so far that have been potted on to next size tubers. This lot are cape gooseberrys, tomatoes zinnias, tiny strawberry plants and lupins oh I forgot the Tansy but I haven’t potted that up yet. ...This year is definitely about experimenting to see what I can grow, and how much I can grow and at the end of this what we used as a family of 6 and what I have forgotten to grow. I’m on my third batch of tomatoes I’m trying to succession plant as much as I can so we have crops that are fruiting throughout the season. I also wanted to plant loads of colour in the garden this year something I used to do many years ago when the kids were little my veg garden was always full and it was my favourite place to be in the evening when the kids were in bed. I even had a hammock in the contained garden that the kids enjoyed laying in eating freshly picked snow peas while I worked away. I might need to look into replacing that See more

14.01.2022 I have been leaving the lamb shanks@for the market the last few months but now we have access to all our lambs I decided that we needed a treat in the farmhouse tonight of slow roasted lamb shank. They need this slow roasting to make the meat soft and tender and I can hands down say it’s definitely worth the wait. What’s your favourite slow roasted cut of @wattlebankparkfarm meat ?

14.01.2022 Nothing like having a couple of sticky beaks watching your every move collecting their farm fresh eggs it was a little nerve racking that one wrong move would end up we me covered in chicken poop though Lucky packing for the market today is a little less stressful see you all soon at leongatha farmers market

14.01.2022 Time to upgrade The new batch of broilers have outgrown their first home and today have moved to a bigger pen lots of fresh wood shavings more water troughs and bigger food dishes are also required to keep up the food and water to these hungry little beasts. It won’t be long and they will be fully feathered and out into a pen

11.01.2022 I’ve cooked competition pulled pork on Weber kettles and Smokey mountain bullets, bbq pulled pork in the wood stove the oven, slow cooked pork and gravy in a slow cooker and the one thing that is the key to it all is great pork and time. We have great pork but time is something I am short of most days so a pork shoulder is a great option for me to feed my hungry family. I placed one of our boned and rolled pork shoulders into a Dutch oven sprinkled with some bbq pork run (...today I used @heathrilesbbq peach rub from @thebarbecueco ) I placed the lid on and had it cooking away slowly in my wood stove most of the day when it was time for dinner I cut away the net wrap forked the meat which was tender soft added a second sprinkle of peach rub and then everyone chose their favourite bbq sauces. You could do this in a slow cooker or in a Dutch oven in a fire pit there are so many options just remember good pork and time See more

11.01.2022 Frost and painted skies blessed the farm this morning

11.01.2022 Just hanging out with my friends watching the sun go down

11.01.2022 This is way to exciting not to share our first batch of 2020 pullers are laying eggs although it’s only 1 of the 13 in the group but hey it’s a start in order to celebrate this momentous occasion (I need to celebrate everything ) here’s a quick video from days olds to egg laying Ps if your wondering the answer to the age old questions what came first the chicken or the egg it’s was definitely the chicken

10.01.2022 Nothing like a line of sleeping pigs to make you smile in the morning And the next line reads due to unforeseen circumstances we won’t be at Inverloch fm today we will be at the farm so if you would like to send through an order I can put it together we will be back in inverloch next Sunday and koonwarra on the Saturday as normal. May your Sunday be a peaceful one

08.01.2022 Morning set up at Koonwarra although by the looks there was a few slackers in there I hope you all haven’t blown away the wind at the farm was terrible when we left I may or may not have stocked up on some more essential plants for the garden (essential makes it sound important ) Tomorrow you can find me at Inverloch at Markets n more then I have one full day to prepare for a new member of the family on Tuesday

08.01.2022 Just finishing the last jobs of the morning before heading to @warragulfarmersmarket I hope you all have a awesome day

06.01.2022 Everyone is just happy hanging around this Friday 4 bales of pea straw have covered the areas I planted out a couple of days ago I’m just continuing to layer and layer whatever I can find to suppress the weeds unfortunately we don’t have any of last years silage left I will definitely be sneaking a couple of this years if and when we can get some cut. I don’t use hay as it contains seeds which will germinate when rolled out the silage on the other hand is green grass and the bales heat up due to the wrapping in plastic this kills all the weed seeds so it’s perfect for my garden beds. On a butchershop note we have fresh lamb coming in tonight which is so exciting. We will be at two markets this weekend @leongathafarmersmarket and @inverlochlionsclubfarmersmarket

06.01.2022 A beautiful posy to start your weekend

06.01.2022 Layers of love right there composed cow manure off the track with surrounded by straw bales. I’ve been working on trailing a straw bale garden bed from scratch I will be documenting it’s progress and I’ll show you how I did it on our YouTube Chanel. I’m hiding this little bit of news in here to see if you are all paying attention I’ll do a proper announcement when I have everything sorted on how I’m going to do this but I think it’s going to be a great way for us all to connect and show a little more about the farm and share skills and techniques for anyone wanting to start their own small farm. Anyway I best get back to some work remember keep this a secret Love to you all

04.01.2022 Calves can just be the cutest while out moving and feeding the chickens yesterday these little bottle fed babies wanted to get up close and personal with the camera which is just the cutest and a great video to get the day started. Have a great Wednesday

03.01.2022 Sausage, snags, snausages whatever you call them they are such a versatile dinner option. Our @wattlebank_park_farm beef sausages are gluten and preservative free and super yummy. Tonight I was going through recipe ideas and everything I came up with was with a sauce of some kind when all of a sudden crumb sausages whoop whoop these are a great easy option for dinner with steamed veg or mashed potatoes. And would be amazing on a spring picnic with the kids. Method :- ...Take your sausages dust them in plain flour Dip them in egg Then into either bread crumbs or panco crumbs I added some Italian herbs to the crumbs Bake, fry or airfry And enjoy See more

02.01.2022 I love my kitchen window it’s slowly filling with herbs, orchards and succulents. My herbs are great when I want to add a little freshness to my dishes especially thyme I use it allot in my cooking. I feed the potted herbs some seaweed liquids fertiliser every couple of months to give them a boost and a gentle watering daily. Why not had a herb pot to your kitchen it not only looks pretty but is functional too

02.01.2022 Creamed corn and bacon fritters for Sunday night dinner Nice and easy and one bowl clean up that’s has to be the winner when it comes to dinner What’s your easy Sunday night dinner ?

02.01.2022 Friday night hanging out with my chickens I just moved them onto a fresh patch of grass and gave them fresh water it’s a beautiful night to be out wandering around. I hope to see you all this weekend out at the farmers markets

01.01.2022 Let’s have a chat you could win a prize . How to make the Aussie snag in bread gourmet. . The teenagers helps me and this is what we came up with ... Start with a @wattlebank_park_farm beef sausage, load them up with onion, bacon, cheese and my last jar of zucchini pickles oh you can only have them on plain white bakery bread of course. . Presentation on a fancy plate with a sprinkling of spring onions and cider ( the teens all said vb or Melbourne but we support local oh and side note not teens are drinking incase anyone is wondering). And can you get anything more Australian at the moment than a @akubra_australia and a pair of pity’s (pity’s are sunglasses for anyone that doesn’t have teenage children) . Now it’s your turn comment below your gourmet sausage in bread idea and to make it a little more fun I’m going to throw in a two packs of our beef sausages. T&c You need to be able to pick them up from the market or the farm. And I’m not picking the winner you guys are you have till Friday 25th June 6pm night to cast your votes on the best idea. The person with the most votes will win the snags it’s that simple And I’ll announce the winner at 6.30pm Friday night.
