19.01.2022 Plans for the NEJTA Spring 2020 season have been announced.
18.01.2022 The lockdown which commenced last Wednesday (8/7) at 11.59 pm means that competitive tennis is no longer permitted. However, our courts are still available for social play. The relevant sections of the Tennis Vic announcement are below: The Victorian Premier has announced new restrictions and a Stay at Home Directive for 6 weeks for Metropolitan Melbourne from 11.59pm 8 July. During this time, tennis has been identified as an activity which can continue, with restrictions. O...utdoor courts may remain open for the following: o Casual play (public court hire or club members) for members of the same household or for 2 people from different households. o Coaching for members of the same household or one to one coaching All other programs and activity must cease until further notice: Tennis equipment must not be shared No one from outside a lockdown area may play at a facility within the lockdown area - and vice versa If you use the courts during the lockdown, ensure that you observe social distancing and hygiene guidelines. We will keep you updated as the situation develops.
15.01.2022 Unfortunately, due to the new restrictions that are set to begin at 11.59pm tonight, all WGTC tennis competition is to cease until further notice. The Autumn 2020 DVTA season has now officially been cancelled.
14.01.2022 Saturday morning juniors has been understandably pushed back to an October start.
11.01.2022 The Wattle Glen Tennis Club wishes you a safe and spooky Halloween.
09.01.2022 Unfortunately, no updates yet on when tennis will be allowed to resume. Hopefully tennis will be allowed to return in at least some capacity when Melbourne enters the Third Step of its Roadmap to Recovery
09.01.2022 The tennis guidelines for Melbourne & Mitchell Shire have been updated to reflect the impending facemask order that came into effect midnight 22 July. You can find the updated guidelines at: www.tennis.com.au//Community-Tennis-Guidelines-Metropolita The main points are: To play social tennis, you don't need to wear a mask while playing but are required to carry one in your pocket at all times and wear before and after play (having it on until you take the court and then p...utting it back on before you leave). The only exemption to this is if a person has a medical condition where they cannot wear a mask, in which case, said person should have a medical certificate or proof to show that they cannot wear a mask for a legitimate medical reason. Saying that their mask is 'in the car' or something similar is not an excuse and not acceptable. Children under the age of 12 are not required to wear a mask at any stage but can if they want to. Children aged between 12-18 fall within the category of the first point. Even if a family is playing socially together and not interacting with anyone else, masks still need to be carried and used as per the points above. See more
08.01.2022 Due to COVID restrictions, the NEJTA have been forced to cancel their upcoming season.
08.01.2022 Update from the DVTA: the current plan is for the Autumn 2020 season to resume starting next Monday 22 June and play through the school holidays.

03.01.2022 WGTC is pleased to announce that we received a $1,500 grant from the Victorian government. Most of this went to pay for pruning the overhanging branches on Court 1, which means the court surface is now much safer. Additionally, we have received a grant from the Bendigo Bank (Hurstbridge Diamond Creek Eltham Doreen-Mernda Kinglake Community Branches) for close to $2,000 for new mat protectors on the light poles. The money will be handed over at an event in February so things are looking good for next year. Finally, we have applied for funding to replace the nets on Courts 1 and 3 but we won’t know the result until later in the year.
02.01.2022 Over the last week, the conditions for playing tennis have eased further. The main changes are: The limit of ten people is no longer restricted to two households Playing doubles is now permitted... If you do play, ensure you register using the VisitSafe site (https://www.visitsafe.at/wattleglentennisclub). The easiest way to do this is to download a free QR app and use it to scan the QR code below. This will take you directly to the VisitSafe site. Multiple players can be recorded in the one entry with one contact phone number (email address is optional).
02.01.2022 The Premier of Victoria announced earlier today that starting from 11.59pm tonight tennis can reopen. We don't have the official wording from the Department of Health yet about what the exact restrictions are but Tennis Victoria expect the following: Outdoor tennis courts can reopen clubhouses must remain closed (we expect toilets will be able to open and will confirm as soon as possible). Groups of up to 10 are allowed from a maximum of 2 households. We don’t yet know if this is per court or per venue and whether or not a coach will be included in the 10. Additionally, competition may be allowed to return by 1 November 2020.
01.01.2022 Correctly binning rubbish is an important issue. Nillumbik Shire has produced a video on what goes in the recycling bin, with more information available on their website: https://bit.ly/2P3OXWP
