12.01.2022 ANNOUNCEMENT! Dear Members, As Covid-19 restrictions are now gradually lifting in Victoria and if all continues to go well for our state, MEBA has informed us that the Junior Basketball Competition /Summer Season will resume on Saturday 23rd January 2021.... The competition with MEBA has had some changes as well. All boys midweek games will be played on a Friday night, this now includes U10s All midweek girls will play on a Monday evening The midweek mixed U8s will remain on a Monday The Saturday GEBC competition is the same If you had your registration from this year carried over, your child will be automatically placed in a team on the competition day you selected. If you withdrew your child or you wish to register your child, please use one of the following links. Note that new registrations will close at 10pm on Wednesday 25th November 2020. The policy can be access using this link. Your Team Manager will check and confirm that each family has read and understood this document. All Coaches, Team Managers need to complete a 20 minute free online course before the commencement of training and competition. I would also encourage all parents to do the same. A certificate of completion will be issued and each Coach and Team Manager will submit this to their assigned BIO safety officer. MEBA has also informed us that Nunawading stadium will be open for training before the Christmas break. The date of opening is still pending. A training block during the week will be available to Wattle Park Saints teams. Box Hill Aqualink will also be available. More details will be shared with all families once confirmed. 07.01.2022 Dear Members, As a result of the Premier’s reintroduction of Stage 3 lock-downs for metropolitan Melbourne from Wednesday 8th July for 6 weeks, all basketball plans to return to Junior domestic competition have been suspended. The return date for Saturday 8th August will no longer be achievable. Our association, MEBA, have informed all junior and senior domestic clubs that they are unable to commit to an exact return date in the current climate, and for a safe and well manage...d return for all players, parents and officials. However, MEBA is working thoughtfully towards a possible return date in line with the usual summer season dates ( first week of Term 4). Again, can I emphasise that member's registrations for this year will remain current unless individual players wish to inform us they would like to withdraw. Basketball Victoria (BV) is also extending their licenses of individual players and clubs. I am like many of you disappointed about this setback for a return to sport for our children. As we are experiencing an unprecedented time in our history, I know you will agree with myself and the committee that we need a cautious and mature approach to ensuring the safety and well-being for all our club members.
