Today, Tuesday 6 October 2020, the two new jet skis will be launched at Thebarton Police Barracks. ... The new jet skis will be used by SAPOL’s water operations team and will further enhance SAPOL’s search and rescue capability. The jet skis will also be deployed in inland waterways, rivers and near coastal areas for marine compliance checking. Minister for Police, Emergency Services and Correctional Services Vincent Tarzia said: The addition of this new increased capability will give police officers greater agility during water emergencies. The jet skis will also be utilised to complete safety checks on boats and other watercraft as a preventive measure, which will be vital over the coming summer. Speaking on the jet skis, Operations Manager, Water Operations Unit, Senior Sergeant Philip Grear said, We know that many South Australians enjoy getting out into our rivers and coastal areas. The new Police jet skis will enhance our capacity to keep our waterways safe and to undertake search and rescue activities swiftly. The jet skis will be used by highly trained SAPOL personnel as needed and will monitor improper use of our water ways, particularly in relation to jet skis which we know are commonly misused on South Australian rivers.

20.01.2022 STOP THE BUILD says lone councilor! RIDDOCH WARD Councilor for Wattle Range Council, RICK PALTRIDGE urged elected members, at this week's council meeting, to think long and hard about pursuing a proposed multi million dollar ($6m plus) council office build, during this time of upheaval and uncertainty of a global pandemic. Clr Paltridge requested permission to speak, to have on record his statement, which he would have expressed at the September council meeting had he not bee...n in hospital, he explained. During his 5 minute window of opportunity, he urged members not to rush the decision, saying, we live in times of great uncertainty and fear. "I have thought long and hard about this," he said. There is pressure on people, they can't do simple everyday things- -can't play golf where they have for 40 years, -can't cross the border to go to doctors, dentists - fear not being welcome in a restaurant (by fellow patrons) The councilor urged his fellow members to spend time researching changing worldwide workplace conditions that support his stand on delaying the proposed build. There is a move to remote working and there are positive benefits to health and productivity identified in documented research. - a VIGNERON managing a $2.5b business comprising of 8 vineyards has not visited some of these in 9 months during Covid, but has efficiently kept in touch by ZOOM meetings. - BEECH Energy $1.25b business would usually have at least a dozen people together for meetings, now they have 2 or 3 meetings a week lasting 15 or 20 minutes by ZOOM. - A Penola business person can manage a $20m building project in Victoria remotely. Office space will shrink he told members. One post covid office design site on social media has 83 million hits to date, that is the level of interest. "Let's wait until the 'dust settles." (referring to covid-19) "I am sincerely asking you, Mr Mayor, to wait until 2021 at least, to see what corporate design looks like." Below Clr Rick Paltridge .

16.01.2022 The SIX MILLION DOLLAR question answered! The $6m question on everyone's lips in Wattle Range and the wider South East, in the past months, finally has a 'potential' answer with community site preference winning out, but not without a struggle. Community voted in the recent survey for the former Netball Courts 49% in the site option survey which offered 4 sites for consideration for the proposed new council office.... Council chose instead to lay the matter on the table until the October meeting and to meet informally to discuss the matter in between times. Mayor Des Noll warned elected members at the September meeting and again in his October communications, the adverse affect of council/community relations, when going against community views. After lengthy discussions at last nights meeting, a decision was reached in a 6 to 5 vote to direct the CEO Ben Gower to proceed with concept plans for the former NETBALL COURT SITE on Williams Road Millicent, the site prefered by those who completed the site survey. Community will be consulted on whether they want the actual build to go ahead, now that a preferred site has been identified and after the plans are prepared, the CEO told the meeting. As announced on 5THE FM today. Details of discussions will follow.

10.01.2022 ON-GOING DISCUSSIONS regarding SITE for COUNCIL BUILD COMMUNITY CONSULTION The Community was given the option to suggest an alternate site for the proposed $6m plus new council office build in the recent survey and one of the suggestions is now up for consideration.... Millicent Business Community Association (MBCA) Chair Lee Morgan suggested by correspondence to the September meeting, the carpark behind the Civic and Arts Centre due to its limited usage in relation to seldom used Centre. Clr Peter Dunnicliffe will move this option and 2 of the original site options, Jubilee Park and former Netball Courts, be discussed at tonights council meeting. COMMUNITY PREFERENCE Survey result showed former Netball Courts area a preferred site by the community, if the build goes ahead. The survey did not give community an option on the build itself.
