23.01.2022 Seeds ripened and ready for harvest in their seed pods. This is the seed from Acacia argyrophylla, commonly known as the silver mulga. It’s a compact shrub about 2-3 meters in height. Great for a water wise garden and a bonus that the seeds are delicious! Last pic is how I found the seeds. An ants nest with seed at the entrance was nature’s indicator that seeds were around and ripe! #wattleseed #sustainablefood #bushtucker #wildharvest #naturalprotein #australia #nativefoods

22.01.2022 Acacia oswaldii . After two years of severe drought in my district in S.A these old battlers still manage to produce seed most years despite the harsh conditions. It has many common names including Umbrella Wattle, Umbrella Bush, Miljee, Nelia, Middia, Curly Yarran, Whyacka plus some more!!! It’s found throughout many parts of our sunburnt country in various forms and yes the seeds are huge and edible!!! #wattle#wattleseed#wattleweeat#foodfuture#ancientfood#indigenousfood#edibleacacia#plantprotein

04.01.2022 Seeds from Acacia longifolia subsp. sopharae- commonly called Coastal Wattle. Now declared an environmental weed in some areas but has a delicious seed that has been traditionally harvested for generations. High in fats mainly due to the large golden brown aril, this variety has a delicious nutty and buttery flavour once roasted and ground! Oh plus I think it’s damn pretty! #wattleseed#acacia#bushtucker #coastalfood#plantprotein#superfood#realfood#wildharvest#lowimpact#traditionalfood
