23.01.2022 Gravel as mulch? Mulch made from gravel? When you think of mulch, gravel is not the first option that springs to mind - but in a dry garden it has its benefits!... Other types of mulch, like bark and woodchips, can form an impervious layer that soak up moisture when precious rain arrives. This can lead to shallow root systems in plants, as roots reach up for the source of water trapped in the mulch layer. Gravel mulch insulates the soil from the powerful evaporative heat of the sun, but also allows rainwater to move easily through to soak down into the soil below. At Heronswood we have chosen to use gravel mulch in areas where it also serves to compliment the house and planting scheme. The beauty in the foreground is Santolina rosmarinifolia. #climatecompatibleplanting #diggersclub #visitheronswood #drygarden #gravelmulch

20.01.2022 ***Attention Jindera Blokes*** Starting next Sunday (10th Jan) i am going to kick off a "blokes walk" in our cracking town of Jindera. My intent is pure and my ...hope is that we can build a group that is inclusive and safe for blokes of all ages, sizes and demographics to 'get healthier together' through physical exercise and mentally through connection and conversation. This is a no pressure invite to any local blokes that want to get out for a leisurely walk around our town and connect with others at the same time. I'll be at the netball court at 8.45am for 9am walk Sunday, with the walk expected to be about 45-60mins. Hopefully i wont be walking alone and please feel free to tag and share this post.
