21.01.2022 A massive shout out to the team from NSW SES Wauchope Unit - They did a great job coordinating the resources to all the jobs which came in. It was our pleasure to assist them. In these times we all band together and work jointly between Emergency Services to assist our community. Thank you to Domino's Pizza Wauchope for supplying a large range of delicious pizza's to the crew's from Fire + Rescue Wauchope - The crew enjoyed these after a long evening assisting with Storm & Tempest taskings.

07.01.2022 For this week’s #FlashbackFriday we will be sharing the story of former retained firefighter, Adriana Mugica. In 1993, Adriana joined Wauchope Brigade as the un...it’s first female firefighter. It is important to note that women were only admitted into the NSW Fire Brigade from 1985. Interestingly, Wauchope was the first unit in the North 5 Zone to become rescue accredited, paving the way for Adriana’s next ‘first’. Just two years after joining Wauchope Brigade, she successfully undertook the State Rescue Board’s Rescue Operator Assessment, becoming the first female to be accredited in primary rescue operations. At the time, assessment subjects included hydraulics, rescue scene assessment, winches/chain pull set, cutting equipment, theory examination, patient packaging, air equipment, generators, and cordage. In a personal letter to Adriana, former Commissioner Ian MacDougall congratulated her on this accomplishment, noting you now have an enduring place in our history. Although rescue has been at the core of FRNSW efforts for the past century, it has evolved over the years with an increased focus on accreditation. Currently, the service has 182 accredited rescue units (and 1,853 specialised rescue operators) that assist with incidents such as motor vehicle accident rescue, animal rescue, and fire rescue. This number continues to grow. [: Adriana Mugica, 1995] #FlashbackFriday #History #FRNSW #Museum #Penrith #VisitPenrith #Wauchope Fire and Rescue NSW
