16.01.2022 It is with disappointment that the Wauchope Jockey Club have had to cancel the scheduled Race meeting on the 23rd of May. The decision comes on the back of advice from racing NSW and the cost involved in staging the meeting without any participants present. The club will continue to operate with the Wauchope Cup meeting in early June, unfortunately there will be no crowd allowed at this meeting. Businesses that have supported Race meetings in the past will be named in the Rac...e book and on Sky television as thanks for ongoing sponsorship. 02.01.2022 A cheeky post to give everyone a reason to smile this morning.

02.01.2022 MOLLYS STORY ....those that know me know I only deal in facts.....MOLLY is a 11 hh pony ...grey mare interesting soft personality.. I came to know molly after b...eing invited to help with her laminitic feet on 9th january...suffering with untrimmed feet ...long toes ,long under run heels, the ussual wall stretching away from pedalbone situation commonly covered under the heading of laminitis .she was one of 2 ponies there ..both similar feet...................Now my story is well known to my friends and customers but i will briefly describe to the others how my education got me to this point..18 years ago my life as a farrier had been happening for 27 years. shoeing since i was a horse mad kid at 17 yrs..made lots of mistakes in those early days but a big improvement happened when i moved to the mainland from my home in tasmania..shoeing became my profession but my passion was to make a difference for horses..i was doing the same as all the other farrriers but a huge demonstration happened when i saw a horse belonging to steve brady of taree near where i was living ..this warmblood colt had been lame for 2 years and i saw him regularly as i was shoeing all the breakers for his son Chad ......a fellow shod the colt with sole plates and after 2 years of not being able to walk on 4 legs he was walking square in 3 days and in 4 weeks he galloped past my car as i came up the driveway....WOW look at me ...i was gobsmacked and wanted to know more ..first clinic i went to was the biggest anatomy lesson i had been to and i had been to them all.........................so i tried these crazy shoes and i started to get huge results on my worst footed horses....within 12 months i was getting calls from further afield from people with crippled horses ..nearly always same call ...our horse has been sore for few months to a couple of years.....varying pathologies but a lot of naviculars ,laminitics, and all sorts of joint problems...so this turned into saying yes i will come which meant i had to keep coming as noone else was trying this different shoeing and hoof care around me ...wasnt long and i was stretched so far affield that from port macquarie to kiama inland to singleton ..i was so busy and in demand i wasnt getting back to my cottage by the sea for 6 to 10 weeks.....i had tried suggesting to other farriers to have a look but was met with ridicule and contempt for doing something different.......so i pulled the knives out of my back and stuck my head down and flew under the radar just letting the horses tell me if i was right or wrong and only discussing with the guy paul reeves who i had learnt off... i literaly flew under the radar as i was on the road for 11 years i...the demand was from 4 states and i was literally ended up on a plane every fortnight to cover the demand .....took its toll as i got a gutfull of cancer 5 years and lost a year to chemo , now live at mangalore tas with my beutiful partner jackieand rarely travel except when the customer is willing to cover my travell costs ......i started to take a few pictures but didnt have many as i had a habit of getting out of my car and fixing the horses problem ..later i would say" i should have taken before pictures "..so in 18 years i have learnt and practiced things that arent in the shoeing books and the results have been still astounding me ......after 18 years of sole shoeing instead of ordinary shoeing i have developed an eye for where the bone is in the feet and what angle of rotation there is and how a horse is placing its joints ......after probably the first dozen i started to keep count of how many people told me their vets next move was euthenasia for their horse as they felt there was nothing more they could do ...so far i am up to 149 horses who had no future and i had most of them relieved if not fully back into work including 27 where the pedalbone had dropped thru sole because of laminitis ...only had 2 i couldnt fix ....................................SO I ARRIVED TO MOLLY WITH SPECIALIST EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE THAT ISNT IN the book.....so first trim was hard work as her feet were so hard and dry that my GE nippers wouldnt go throughs.so my specialist power tools made short work of their overgrown feet ...as soon as i got the heels off to unrotate the pedal bone and reduced the long toe allow no more leverage of the wall away from the bone she lost all the wrinkle around her eyes and she was standing comfortably with her feet under her instead of the feet stretched forward laminitic stance ..by the time i had trimmed her other mate she was poking about feeding .........i looked in on her 3 days later and she was walking normally ....so i continued on with her trims around the 6 to 7 week mark ... i would contact the owner and tell him i would drop by ...the money would be waiting in my account ussually before i got there .....no problem to cath molly but her mate was a bit tricky but ok if i didnt rush her ,...this was when i really saw MOLLYS temperament shine through.......now after 46 years af handling horses some really shine through and molly was in the top 10 ....after the third trimming she came and stood by me as i was trimming the other pony......gracing me with her presence and letting me know she was happy ......hard to find the words to describe .........the owner was very happy with how the mares went charging about ...he was not a horseman but it was obvious he really like them and liked having them about ......now i have seen horses in all sorts of dire situation as we all have i can say these 2 were not suffering from lack of food or water and what they needed ... ..what they did have was too good a paddock when the rain brings on the grass ...now the RSPCA person had been had been in the days before i first trimmed them and threatened him to get the feet fixed .....on 5th january ....no problems feet fixed and travelling well .....now as most owners of laminitics know they grow quickly so will get out of shape .........well i was due there 6 weeks ago for their 6 weeks trim..........missed it because of timing and then went down with flu some weeks ago ......wednesday 21st october got a call from the owner to say vet is there and wanting to euthenaise molly...WHAT...cos her feet had grown she had been laying down neighbour instigated vet ...ok i said i am travelling now and i will come and trim her ... i spoke to vet and said that the pony needs underrun heel reducing toes chopping way back and leave as much ,,exactly the vet replied ..so i tried to give a brief picture of my experince level including the amount and type of laminitics i had ....i always will drop everything for a laminitic because time is of the utmost when i can help them....so i proceeded to molly and her mate. while talking with the owner he stated that the vet was saying she wants to put her down as in her opinion there is no fixing her ...the owner said deffinately NO as its just a management problem as i had not been able to get there and i was on my way ..and i had worked wonders before .....the vet then said ...I DONT CARE ...I WILL PUT HER DOWN ANYWAY .......i said no a vet wouldnt say that surely ...he implored on me that was what had been said ..........with the owners help we soon had them trimmed appropriately ....owner took a video of me leading molly with a slack lead and her following willingly..all be it still very muscle sore but as i wasnt in a hurry i stayed and watched her getting about ..moving better as her confidence grew that it wasnt hurting as she weight beared ...thursday 22nd he sent pictures of the yard he had built so that he could control their diet as vet had vigourously told him he had to control their diet which when i enquired he hadnt understood how important it was to manage diet ....ponies moving about all over property during the day....only laying down to rest in the sunshine and getting up easily ...FRIDAY 23RD I get a call about 12.16 which i missed ..got another call from the owner about 100 pm to say THE POLICE and RSPCA were there and they were wanting to get him to surrender the ponies ...so i managed to talk to the RSPCA person who was there while i was still struggling with the flu...turns out they were given some sort of directive to go to the ponies by said vet ...when i tried to explain how much experience i have had with laminitics she was quite listening .when i explained how i had trimmed and why she agreed that she could see the pony was standing under itself not the sore leaning back position ...i explained that yes they would be a bit shaky because apparently they had been laying in the sun before the police arrived and had just stood up and not moved to get their circulation going ...so the RSPCA PERSON was adament that the ponies had to be taken off the place as too much grass and sugar ...i informed her it was my fault as i hadnt been able to get out as i was down with the flu...i also said i had not seen any sign of cushings or EMS or other diabetese symptoms...just simple too much grass problem i also asked rspca person 'YOU ARE NOT JUST GOING TO GET THE POLICE TO SHOOT HER ARE YOU .....NO WAS REPLY so i was under the impression that molly would be taken to a suitable place for rehabilitation..i had offered to help ....so as i spoke then to the owner i said if they were to re xray feet it will tell a whole new story and so he agreed to SURRENDER HIS PONIES........30 minutes later i get a missed call and then text with a picture of MOLLY with blood coming out her face ...once the paperwork had been completed for the surrender the police on instruction ..SHOT HER ....no amount of pleading by owner and when he mentioned me and my work they replied ...farriers are a dime a dozen and we have a directive from a vet with an agreeing confirmation from another who didnt see the pony probably just the xray .......i am devastated...why did this beautiful soul have to die ,,,why did they put her down without trying to help her was this agreed on before they appeared ...i will probably never know ,..the words ...I DONT CARE .. I WILL PUT HER DOWN ANYWAY are resonating thru my head .....probably for the rest of my life ... i am writing MOLLYS story as i am disheartened by the inability of people to look at what i have achieved in 18 years ....they just wont look ...how can i get their attention ......rest in peace molly i hope your death wont be in vain .....i will add photos as i can ...........................................................late edit !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!..................................... its been a huge day since i put this post up and so far i have found the police and rspca lady were only doing what they were instructed ......just the bullets that someone else fired ...the further i go the more i find that the rspca are actually working on the front line with their arms and hands tied ...... still doesnt bring molly back but its a step towards finding who ordered this .....please take the gun off the rspca and police with our comments .......i know how powerfull social media can be ........
