18.01.2022 "I'm seriously worried about the future. I've been ripped so many times by dodgy employment contracts, it feels like I'm going to be working until I'm 90 just t...o pay off student debts and a mortgage." This is one of the responses to our Gig Worker Survey. It's clear that the gig economy desperately needs regulating, and the Dan Andrews State Government is currently taking submissions to determine what those regulations should look like. If you're a gig worker, take the Gig Worker Survey and tell the government exactly what changes you need to improve your working life: https://youngworkerscentre.typeform.com/to/Cvi8JfCj

12.01.2022 Insecure 'gig work' has crept its way into every single industry - from administration and professional services, to hospitality and the arts, to nursing and caring work. All workers deserve a minimum wage, safe work, compensation when they're injured on the job, and the ability to join with others in their industry to negotiate for better pay and working conditions. If you use platforms to find work, fill in this survey and together we'll fight for a better deal for all gig... workers: https://youngworkerscentre.typeform.com/to/Cvi8JfCj

04.01.2022 If this was the normal world we'd be rallying in the street demanding the government introduce a #wagesubsidyforall We might not be able to rally in real life but we can hold a virtual rally. We need everyone to 'check in' to Parliament on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to demand exactly that. #NoWorkerLeftBehind... #VirtualRally

04.01.2022 Last night we kicked off Solidarity School with 27 keen young unionists! They spent some time getting to know each other and hearing more about the important work that unions do. We're excited for the next 7 weeks of this program to bring young workers together online!

01.01.2022 Today is International Workers' Memorial Day. Join us, and some special guests, as we pay our respects to workers killed in the workplace over the past year. Ev...ery worker deserves to come home safely at the end of the day, and on this day we pledge to remember the dead and fight like hell for the living. Current circumstances preclude us from being together on this day of remembrance, but we are together in spirit and in solidarity as we conduct this year's ceremony online. If this event has raised concerns for you or someone you know, you can contact: Lifeline - 13 11 14 or Beyond Blue - 1300 22 46 36
