25.01.2022 The red counter Montessori activity reinforces childrens counting and also introduces them to the concept of odds and evens. 24.01.2022 Learning our times using the Montessori clock activity. We teach children how to read analogue time starting with oclock then moving to half past and quarter to/past. Children enjoy working in pairs to put the numbers on the clock face and then move the hands around to make the different times. We also have paperwork that reinforces their learning. 21.01.2022 This first year student is counting out the number rods and then assigning the correct numerical symbol to the correct number rod. Montessori activities have a control of error that assist child to correct themselves if they have made a mistake. In this instance its seeing the progression of the number rods from shortest to longest. The rods are lined up so the red colour is always on the left hand side. This helps them see that odd numbers end is a red colour and even numbe...rs end in a blue colour. Once the child masters this activity, we extend it by asking them to find objects in the room that matches the colour tablets. This activity and the extension can be easily replicated at home.

These cards in conjunction with a little colouring in paperwork help children learn their flags of countries. This is a Montessori activity that is intentional learning however Ive found children really enjoy learning about the different patterns and colours of flags. Of course children dont leave the Montessori knowing all their flags but its definitely good exposure and some flags are favourites like Australia and New Zealand
