17.01.2022 Yesterday, I sent 14 quilts, 6 rugs, 5 jumpers & some hats up to the Dandenongs with a friend , who is a mental health worker up there. She will be checking in on residents & visiting local community centres such as neighbourhood houses. The residents are very traumatised after the devastating storms of last week, some still do not have power still. For many , there was no power & communications such as phone & Internet, had been knocked out as well . Infrastructure & houses were damage & then you add on contaminated water & COVID. It is cold up there, so we hoping those beautiful handknitted jumpers , rugs & quilts will bring warmth & comfort. We will continue to provide support where we can, please let Norma know if you have quilts or rugs you would like to donate.

17.01.2022 These bassinet quilts, baby hats & booties have been donated to Waverley Private Hospital. My contact & the Hospital are in my 5 km radius. COVID-19 has been very stressful & isolating for new mums. They have not been able to be be supported by families & friends.

05.01.2022 This year, the Annual General Meeting of Waverley Patchworkers Inc will be conducted via Zoom on Monday October 26th at 7.30pm. Link details to join the meeting, and a comprehensive guide to using Zoom are in our October Newsletter. Following the brief formalities of the AGM, we will have a special presentation by Committee member, Karen McGregor. Karen will share some of her thread stitching and quilting techniques, and we will have the opportunity for a close up view of so...me of her award winning quilts. Unfortunately we had to cancel a scheduled workshop with Karen due to Covid-19 restrictions, but hope that this workshop can be re-scheduled in the not too distant future.

03.01.2022 Looking for inspiration for Christmas Bassinet Quilts, I have rummaged through my odd blocks and Christmas Fabrics and made these 4 quilts. These quilts will be donated to Monash Children’s Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit(NICU). We hope to get 34 quilts so we have a Quilt for each bub. The quilts need to be made from new cotton fabric with cotton batting, the measurements are 28x18. The deadline is November 30, please contact Norma Aitken for delivery.

01.01.2022 Help wanted. Gift Quilts has been given this beautiful Quilt top designed by Di Ford. It is the Oh dear, Mrs Thompkins: Aka The Burnt Quilt. It has been beautiful pieced, but unfortunately is only 3/4 done. I am looking for an enthusiastic hand piecer( or team of them) to finished the quilt. I have checked all the pieces so there is a plan to finish it. It comes with the pattern, templates & a huge bag of lovely reproduction fabric. When complete it would make a wonderful Raffle Quilt for someone like Heartbeat Gabrini. If you can help, please let me know. Norma
