25.01.2022 Each precious day that we have left in our adventure presents so many beautiful moments if you know where to look for them. The mangroves, with their gnarled branches and spiny undercanopy offer themselves up perfectly as a foreground support act for the major elemental players. Once again, scratch the surface, find the gems that lie beneath and be rewarded with endless treasures for the adventures traveller.... there is a lot more to Carnarvon that many think. #carnarvon #shireofcarnarvon #wanderoutyonder #wanderoutyonderwa #amazingwa #westernaustraliatourism #westernaustralia #gascoyne #landscapephotography #carnarvontourism

24.01.2022 Goodbye Broome, we have loved you... at first we thought you were the Disneyland of the outback but your pastiche of old world charm and history has grown us. I hope you never change, but instead perhaps delve deeper into your own past and become a more authentic version of yourself... tonight we watched Bran Nue Dae at the outdoor picture theatre and I couldnt think of a more fitting way to end our time here (the picture theatre that we were sitting in was featured in the m...ovie even). We will take with us the memories of golden sunsets, white sand and pindan dirt, slow camel rides and a hint of the orient. Goodbye until next time and tomorrow we head back to Barn Hill, one of our favourite stops. #broome #sunsetcamelsbroome #amazingwa #westernaustralia #wanderoutyonder #tourismwa #tourismbroome #cablebeach #kimberleytourism #sunset #camel #broometime See more

23.01.2022 I cycled through Scottsdales rail trails with my boy today. Such a beautiful afternoon to cruise through these hills, so verdant and full of life. We stopped and ate apples and blackberries growing wild everywhere as we made our way through farms and forests. Such a shame that we get so caught up into the machinations of modern life that we forget to spend enough time enjoying simple pleasures like we experienced this afternoon. Tom found a long quill from a tree and waved i...t through the air and then fitted it astride his helmet and laughed out loud as we made our way home through some fun single trail. Whilst on this adventure I am appreciating all of these magic moments, documenting them in words and pictures and most importantly reminding myself to live my life everyday to the fullest, something I certainly havent always done in the last few years. This lap of Oz will hopefully be my kick in the pants to get back on track... and these memories we are making will hopefully be the foundation on which to build many more. See more

22.01.2022 Waves & Wood Studio - environmental and creative portraits, Yallingup, Western Australia . Strolling through Tiananmen Square, Beijing with my wife and son. Here they are silhouetted against Chairman Maos mausoleum. The scale of these places is incredible. Awe inspiring is what they intended and why they achieved. I highly recommend Beijing as a destination, so much to see and do and if you come, think about staying in the Hutongs- the ancient alley ways scattered throughou...t the city. We stayed in a fantastic boutique hotel and wandered the laneways, sampling the restaurants, bars and quirky shops. Got a car, a bike, an aeroplane or something else you are passionate about?? Lets shoot it!! I guarantee a fun shoot and a spectacular image for your wall (and social media of course). Please let your friends know, tag them in this image, share it to anyone who may love an amazing, fine art style photograph of them with their favourite toy or doing what they love to do!! Call or email me at [email protected] I am passionate about my photography and want to make you something you will be very proud to have on your wall. . . 22.01.2022 This is such an awesome concept. Is there any artists out there who would like to collaborate with me in making some amazing photography? Someone who can oil paint people and I will light and photograph them? Any volunteers for models as well?

22.01.2022 Today we are in the Bay of Fires. This name has intrigued me for many years and it is long somewhere I have wanted to travel. It hasnt disappointed with its beauty or its intrigue. I always thought the name came from the rust orange and red rocks that are found in proliferation throughout this coast but in truth the name comes from long ago when sailors first sighted this land and there were many fires burning along the shore from the local aboriginal people. It would of bee...n a sight for sore eyes, this beautiful coast with safe harbour and welcoming fires... Im sure thats not the way things played out though. Once again I ask the question that I contemplate with each new town we move through could I see myself living here? The answer is a resounding yes! White, squeaky clean sand, a huge network of bike trails, beaches of many aspects to suit all winds, rolling green hills at the feet of mountains... there is a lot to like. I stood shivering in the late afternoon chill as I watched the sky put on a show worthy of a peacock on a stage and day dreamed of living in the little farm house pictured in this scene... it was a good dream. 19.01.2022 A recent shoot I did with David and his classic Sunbeam Tiger sports car that he races in various events around Australia. David is a really great guy and so knowledgeable about cars, he is a pleasure to work with and this was such a fun day shooting in a very cool location. The full set of photos will come soon!! If you know anyone who would like a shoot done with their special vehicle or any other special type of creative portrait, please pass on my details. These shoots are so much fun and I guarantee that you will love the photos because making these kind of beautiful images is my passion.

18.01.2022 This photo represents a part of my personality that torments me, frustrates my wife and hopefully inspires my son. You see this a road that I never travelled. I stopped and looked at it, I photographed it and I admired its beauty. It was at this point that a small seed was implanted in my mind, the seed grew a yearning - a need - to know what is at the farthest reach of this beautiful road that I had just witnessed... I suffer from an insatiable desire to know what is over th...e horizon, what lies around the corner or beyond the hill that frustrating blocks my view. The problem with this is in the Earth being round and all, there is always another horizon to chase or hill to climb in order to satiate ones desire to conquer the unknown. My tormented soul has begrudgingly learned to walk away from some paths in order to avoid driving my wife insane but I can honestly say they all haunt me, these unfinished explorations... little fragments of myself are left behind, standing stoically like sentinels waiting for my greater self to return and gather them up as we steal the time to walk the path and beyond. 17.01.2022 As we prepare to say good bye to beautiful Tasmania and so-long to our long planned holiday around Australia, we still find beauty at every turn and this keeps our spirits up. The winding hills of Tasmania have literally been turned into an emotional roller coaster and we have no choice but to ride it through to its completion now and let out a few screams of frustration along the way. This wasnt the ride we signed up for . The COVID-19 virus has been like a filthy, big c...ow patty in the middle of our road and rather than run into we will run from it. We are sailing out of Tasmania on Sunday morning and heading to a friends place in Victor Harbour SA. We will isolate there for a while on their hundred acres amongst green hills and hopefully blue skies and reflect on our how lucky we were to have even been able to travel around part of this amazing land. It will give me time to edit photos, catch up on blog writing and stay away from the negativity of a Corona Virus new world order. We are already planning the continuation of our journey when things return to normal and other new adventures in the coming years... See more

12.01.2022 Standing on the banks of the dusty Fitzroy River, confronted with the incongruous beauty of this flower is where I stood today to crack a beer after a long day of driving and searing heat: we drove roads stained red with the bull dust of cattle stations and road trains and witnessed the black wings of an eagles shadow kiss the bonnet of our Landcruiser as the bird itself eyed off willywilly spirals as they soared high into the sky, wrestling the leaves and dust from the grou...nd. We left the fabled Bungles behind with amazing memories fresh in our hearts and minds as we listened to outback truckers chat about their retirement plans on the two way - they are going to give up driving big rigs around Australia to take up driving caravans around Australia- go figure?? We passed through towns with razor wire welcoming committees and black hearts and drove along endless cliffs that have witnessed the time of ages pass by but are unnoticed by man. Today we passed up sheer beauty for creature comfort after yesterday choosing to push our bodies to the limits. Each day we discover more about ourselves as we explore the world beyond our normal. Each day rolls into the next but is punctuated in our minds with unique events and consumed voraciously with our hearts as we open them to this country we travel through and we love more and more. #tourismwa #tourismwesternaustralia #wanderoutyonder #australiasnorthwest #fitzroycrossing #fitzroylodge #thekimberleyaustralia #thekimberley #amazingwa #westernaustralia See more

10.01.2022 Barn Hill, the Kimberley Smooth stones whos layers are revealed after millenia lay unnoticed on the sand despite their obvious beauty - for the soaring towers of red and gold command the casual observers attention, sandstone skyscrapers a million years in the making. Tiny footprints by the tens of thousands crowd the morning beach like traffic on a superhighway, so busy these crabs in construction of their subterranean homes. Wet sand stretches for miles, water running from... its tide drenched surface, creating fractal like canyons when viewed from high above. The sand is alive with hermit crabs, pippies and a thousand other unseen workers going about their day. Small outcrops of green splash vibrant colour amongst the muted sandstone hues, life busting forth despite obvious challenges in a parched land. The heat begins early and soars throughout the day, with evenings brief respite bringing elated feelings of relief, for even the waters are warm and can only refresh the weary to a degree. This place has a soul, open yours eyes wide, put your hands to the ancient rock, let your ears here its cries in the wind. 07.01.2022 Today I am feeling thankful for the wonderful experiences we have shared as a family. Some days just knock your socks and today was one of them. Wyndham was an epic town, such a good feeling to it, loads of history, so many places to capture with my camera and the light - just wow what freaking amazing light!!! We had a scare with Bear this morning and went to the vet - thankfully hes all good, then all four of us went to The Grotto, climbed down all the steps and swam in th...e pool at the bottom of the gorge in water inky black and 100 meters deep... on to Wyndham for a picnic lunch in a beautiful green park by the mangroves beach and explored the town... the icing on the cake was the incredible Five Rivers lookout and a glorious sunset surrounded by rock wallabies and the amazing light. So good, we are so lucky. #amazingwa #westernaustralia #kimberley #wanderoutyonder #wyhndam #fiveriverslookout #painterlyphotos #australiasnorthwesttourism #australiasnorthwest #tourismwa See more

06.01.2022 We took the Landcruiser up a snotty goat track to find this incredible vista, we arrived to late to witness the setting sun after a few misadventures but we certainly appreciated the blue hour tones as the air began to cool slightly and the bottle tops came of an ice cold Boags Draught - or two... the light is different up here, as Ive said before, but I certainly arent growing tired of its magical dusky glow. I find it inspiring and exciting, I love to photograph these la...ndscapes although I think of my self not as a landscape photographer but as a portrait photographer. I cant wait to see what tomorrow brings... in a couple of days we will leave this beautiful place and start our way back home south over the coming weeks, it will be with great sadness that I leave these huge, haunting landscapes behind and return to a world that has grown mundane. 02.01.2022 Second last night in Tasmania and we are starting to get very sad at having to leave. It truly seems that with every turn there is a vista worthy of spending the rest of your days pondering... this view looks over Lake Barrington and the Wilmot Valley. In the background you can see Mount Rolland, at the foot of which I sitting in the van writing this - tomorrow I will climb it. Yesterday we were travelling through nearby Sheffield and visited Devils Gate Dam, as we left the ...dam after a late picnic lunch we saw a property so stunning that we turned around and came back to to admire it and I of course had the camera out to try and capture the dusky mountains, stacked in greys, as they receded into infinity with a stunning view of the river that feeds the dam in front. Whilst capturing this beautiful scene the farmer who owned the dam and vineyard approached me along with his wife. We chatted for a while about the state of the world and I remarked on the beauty of his patch and he invited us into the property so I could better capture this stunning scene on camera. We all talked further, had fun with his hilarious Landcruiser eating horses (thats another story... haha ) and then said our goodbyes and we continued down the road to the town of Sheffield and its eighty murals (and bloody good wood fires pizza). At the end of the day, you cant take a wrong turn in this place, everything leads to a good adventure and a beautiful view... stay tuned - eventually I will get those photos of Ray and Debbies farm off the camera and edited - it seems as though I will have a lot of time up my sleeve soon as we self isolate in South Australia.
