20.01.2022 We have had many questions asked about what we are going to be doing in the light of the recent postponement of the 150th Bendigo Easter Fair Festival, which we are a part of. The organising team will be meeting and discussing our options and our plans and will let you all know shortly Until then, we will continue to push forward as we were this morning, to be as well prepared as we can for any eventuality. 13.01.2022 HELP! Actor needed! The Way of the Cross is at a cross roads ....... (And please if this is not your thing don’t criticise. I’ve had enough of that!) I am d...irecting a local production of a common Easter event - a live portrayal of the last days of Jesus’ life -The way of the Cross. These dramatisations are famous all over the world, and some in Europe attract 10,000s of viewers. The WOTC committee were asked to revive this event after a 18year hiatus, in time for the 150th anniversary of the Easter celebrations here in Bendigo. I hesitantly accepted the role of Director 1year ago because I was not sure I could do this project justice. It’s not a simple parade of the cross! It’s not a small thing. It has a necessary budget of over $15K. This is to pay for the best lighting and sound providers and designers in Bendigo. It has a cast of over 30 to be costumed and made up. We are closing View St at the top end of the Arts precinct to present this live outdoors event from the Engine Room, across the steps of the Capital, to the lawns outside the Gallery. It has the support of nearly every local Christian community (denomination) and theatre company. It is an emotional presentation of the critical event at the centre of Christian faith regardless of denomination But.... Even tho we have cast for most roles we do not have a man who thinks that they can do the role of Jesus! HELP!! If you know someone who can present with an acting age of approx mid-late 30s, and had a strong stage presence, please, get them to contact me. It’s a tough role -one of the toughest. 05.01.2022 We have our Jesus! Lovely local Tom has agreed to work with us to present The Way of the Cross. While this is an answer to prayers we still need about 10 more people to play crowd roles. Jews against Jesus, and those following him. Are you one of the people sitting back wondering whether to get involved? Do IT!! All costumes etc supplied. No cost - just time.
