17.01.2022 On Sunday 11 November 2018 at 7:40pm, the first episode of Dont Stop the Music will screen on ABC and ABC iView. Dont Stop the Music is a 3-part documentary series that follows the journey of an Australian primary school capturing the benefits and transformative effects of music education on students, teachers and families involved. Many of the children in JWAYS and WAYS are fortunate enough to receive a substantial amount of specialist music education in their primary yea...rs either at school or out of school. Sadly this is not the case for all Australians. You may be surprised to learn that 63% of primary schools in Australia offer no classroom music. Many primary schools in Perth do not have a strings orchestra. We have lots of our members wanting to take their music to the next level and to join an orchestra is often the next step in their musical journey. JWAYS and WAYS provides dedicated young musicians from all over Perth this opportunity. This documentary will give an interesting insight into what we believe are some of the core benefits of studying music. It was filmed here in Perth earlier this year and features Australian musician Guy Sebastian and scientist, Dr Anita Collins.

17.01.2022 WAYS first day back is this Wednesday 5th of Feb! Please drop your child off at Newman College Marist Auditorium Studio 1 and 2 for 4:15 (WAYS) and 4:30 (JWAYS). 15.01.2022 The music community has been saddened by the loss of the amazing Richard Gill. Richard touched and enriched so many lives through music. He was also a passionate advocate for early childhood music. Our deepest sympathy to his family and friends.

14.01.2022 A big congratulations to all the soloists, JWAYS/WAYS orchestras and guest performers who performed at our Mid Year Concert on Sunday. The theme "Music is for Life" was really personified through a range of family guest performances and our very own Mr Arbuckle. Its was lovely to see the love of music that has been carried down from grandparents and parents to their children! Hopefully this love of music will continue to be enjoyed for many years to come! Thank you to our Gold sponsor City of Stirling and supporting businesses Perth Symphony Orchestra, Newman College and Stoney Joe for helping to make this event such a success.

14.01.2022 It's time - Wednesday 22nd we are back in action as one big WAYS orchestra! This first rehearsal may be a little messy as Ms Clare works out new seating arrangements, please follow her directions! Arrive around 4:00 for a 4:15 start and we will finish at 6:00. Refer to member emails for further instructions. It will be great to see the orchestra back together again and we all look forward to seeing what our wonderful WAYS musicians are capable of!

14.01.2022 Congratulations to our 2019 WAYS Orchestra for all their hard work and a wonderful performance at the 2019 WA Schools Junior Orchestra Festival. WAYS Orchestra received the award of "Outstanding" for their performance in the String Orchestra C Division. This is the highest award possible and the comments given by the adjudicators were very positive indeed.

13.01.2022 After a long break from any performances, WAYS will be performing tonight at Newman College from 5:15! I look forward to seeing all the students playing what they have been working on this term. It will also be great to see some soloists "braving their fear" to share their tunes with us! This will be the first time some of our students have put on their orchestra uniform and played on the big stage. Very exciting, I look forward to seeing you all there :-)

09.01.2022 Well thats a wrap for 2018! The kids enjoyed a pizza party after their last rehearsal for the year! A big thank you to our amazing committee members, Mr Arbuckle, Miss Clare, parents and of course all our dedicated little musicians. The kids have worked so hard all year. It is really lovely to see their amazing progress and some lovely friendships formed.

08.01.2022 What an amazing afternoon, showcasing our talented young musicians at our End of Year Concert. I am completely blown away with the sheer commitment and growth of each and every one of our talented musicians. The highlight was of course performing with members from the Perth Symphony Orchestra. This was an amazing opportunity for the kids and the sheer excitement after the event was phenomenal. A special thank you to City of Stirling, Bourby Webster, Members of the PSO who dedicated their time to perform with us today, our conductors Sarah Jessica and Ashley Arbuckle and of course our dedicated committee members.

05.01.2022 We are now underway for the year, but it is not too late to audition! We have just recently added another 4 students to our orchestras and we have plenty of capacity for more. We are open for violin, viola, cello and double basses from years 2 up with at least a year of tuition. 03.01.2022 JWAYS enjoyed sharing some beautiful carols with the residents at RSL Menora Gardens Retirement Village yesterday. Its lovely to see the kids sharing their music with the wider community. It was a lovely afternoon for all.

Im sure everyone is feeling the Christmas spirit after all the gorgeous Christmas music. The kids (and parents) all thoroughly enjoyed the experience. There were lots of comments from the kids that Jessica sounds just like Miss Clare at our rehearsals and wow they write on their sheet mus...ic too!!
