25.01.2022 One of our calmer driver-guides, is this Paul?
25.01.2022 Blackie and Yolanda, must be about 97.
24.01.2022 This guy looks kind of familiar. Yes its Thomas.
24.01.2022 Remember Waywards Outbike rides? Weve been doing them again since 2015. The G2G goes every 3 years. Anyone taken up cycling - or interested in being a helper?
24.01.2022 Ben on Outbikes Alice to Coober Pedy 14 day supported ride, 2005. Flickr Outbike album has full size images https://www.flickr.com/ph/outbike/albums/72157594518637635/
23.01.2022 Anyone been to Budj Bim, the old Mt Eccles NP, inland from Port Fairy and Portland, since it became a World Heritage area last year? There are guided walks with the local Gunditjmara people. To hike between Lake Surprise and Lake Condah looks to be about 5 km.
23.01.2022 Anyone know of any owner/driver with 4wd small bus (Canter or similar size) whos spare in these times?
23.01.2022 Thanks to all who ever helped pull a Wayward Bus out of the mud (or sand)!
23.01.2022 Aaaaahhh..... There was only 28 of these imported to Australia, all for Reg Ansetts Pioneer Tours and Pioneer Express. Wayward was custodian of the last remaining passenger coach, from 1995 to 2006, now in the Driver Coachlines historic collection. Heres another one, a camper-coach belonging to Phillip Leggett
22.01.2022 Ceduna Eclipse 2002. Bruce B is at the wheel of our restored 1968 GMC Super Clipper. JF (Jean-Francois) is chef. More comment to come...
22.01.2022 Sit back for a 1950 coach ride from Sydney to Brisbane on Pioneer, some terrific footage in this...
21.01.2022 Anyone else of the old team up to any good mischief in these strange days!? Feel free to share posts here that might be interesting to our Wayward veterans. As for me, I just registered e-Holden, thought Id sneak in before Senator McGrath thinks of it. But it cost $36, a lot more than the $1 the Senator offered GM for the rusty old Holden name.... Anything relating to the reborn @WaywardBus2020 will be at that page - and looks like WB2020s first event now has enough bookings to be confirmed. Its an 8 day social distancing trip where punters get to walk, not ride! WB carries the gear and does the refreshment stops. Trekking 161km up the BVRT, Brisbane Valley Rail Trail, kind of like the Camino in Europe! If this catches on, perhaps we can do similar in other states.
20.01.2022 "Let the others rush!" Takin our time from #WilliamCreek to #CooberPedy in the 90s on Wayward Bus
20.01.2022 Great shot John Ray! Johns in NZ working with St.John Ambulance on recruitment. Phil is there too, a curator in Christchurch Museum.
19.01.2022 Dominic has a trove of Pioneer memorabilia. I can see 719 above the driver window, this shot was after Pioneer restored it in the late 80s.
19.01.2022 Any of our old team keen to do our Classic Coast route on foot? These lads would be pleased to get more companions...
17.01.2022 The Sultana Super Panoramico never ran in Australia but what a machine it was! Sadly I missed out travelling on one when our family went from Mexico City to Acapulco in 1967 - instead we flew Qantas (was part of the Fiesta Route, London to Sydney).
16.01.2022 Is that you up there Andy?
16.01.2022 Sad news from Pip, Yolandas daughter. Yolanda passed away in March after a long battle with cancer. The family has lived in Brisbane for many years and we last met there a few years ago. Yolanda was a bright light at Wayward, looking after our accounts from 1991 and effectively becoming my right-arm in running the company, with us until about 1998. Our thoughts with David, Pip and Nick. (image LinkedIn)
15.01.2022 Sven was wayback, like 91-92-93. I remember this night, in the backyard shed of 500 Marion Road, Plympton, trying until 3am to get the gearbox to fit back into that rotten first 4-cyl coaster we had. Trying to remember our cheery ex-teacher mechanic? Simon Pipe, he was a mate of yours?
15.01.2022 Here's a link to an online gallery (28 photos) from a Wayward Bus / Outbike ride from Alice to Coober Pedy in July 2005: https://www.flickr.com/p/outbike/albums/72157594518637635/
15.01.2022 Bus washing the Wayward way.
15.01.2022 Billy G keeping warm in Kuitpo recently with a WB beanie. Thanks for the shot! Louise D has sent some images too from her days about 2003 including of Hayley C and her. Thanks for contributing Louise, then and now!
14.01.2022 How good were our customers!
13.01.2022 Found another stash of images and Ill trickle them on to the page. Here is James - are you out there mate?
13.01.2022 Take me away from this lockdown nightmare!!!
12.01.2022 Look forward to wearing it.
12.01.2022 Thanks for sharing John! Were you getting trained on this trip?
12.01.2022 Found on web archives, a tale from Christine Charles of the first Outbike event, Alice to Coober Pedy in 2004: http://web.archive.org//.personal/Outbike-ride/Outbike-ride Christine Charles and hubby Rod are ANU profs and renown plasma rocket scientists! Photos by Christine, Helmut, Peter and other riders. Re the photo of me, I'd like to say I'd just ridden from Andado to Mt. Dare arriving in the dark on a black night. We may bring back this ride in 2021 or 2022.... Outbike Australia See more
11.01.2022 Get ready to...
10.01.2022 Wayward Bus ran for Dutch company Djoser from the mid 1990s. They re-engaged us in 2012 and we branded as Bandicoot Tours & Charters www.facebook.com/bossbandicoot/ and run a small fleet of specced-up Rosas. Main image is our SA-based Rosa at Thredbo Nov 2019. Do you like the interiors nowadays? Plenty of social spacing.
08.01.2022 One of the fab images just posted by John Ray - outside #WilliamCreekPub with Steve M at the helm. See them all in the guest posts - including with the guy on the fibreglass roof of the Mercedes. More contributions welcome - share what you got up to!
08.01.2022 "Deviate Spectacularly!" - Wayward Bus first motto, circa 1991 But it seemed to perplex many people and we left it behind when we adopted "Let the Others Rush!". Jersey still in mint condition, images from Ralphs sister Caroline, a 2-times Wayward traveller.
08.01.2022 Cant resist adding this pic of Pete S - which will probably make him the most featured former crew member on this site!
07.01.2022 Sometimes we used to drop into Port MacDonnell, south of Mt Gambier and go out to Cape Northumberland. Next time in the area, Im going to see FEASTS CLASSIC CAR COLLECTION & MEMORABILIA - dont we all love those old Valiants!? Anyone been there? I dont think Don & Sheila are on the web or FB so thanks for your post Shane Carter!
06.01.2022 A great story from the 90s in the comments to this 2015 post on my page, told by Andy dV of his trip to Alice... https://www.facebook.com/photo.php
05.01.2022 Memories flood back reading this website description from the Real Adventure Group of their 2 day tour (yes 2 days) between Sydney and Melbourne taking in Mansfield, Beechworth, Gundagai and Canberra. Let me share: "Leaving Sydney along the great Murray River and Victoria Alps we head to the town of Mansfield. Whereas Northern Sydney is characterised by grand canyons and the big red outback here the landscape is ever changing from the Great Dividing Range lush forests and st...rong running rivers. It was here that outlaw here Ned Kelly made his home eventually being tried for multiple murders in the town of Beechworth." Tempted to read more? 05.01.2022 Found this delightful image amongst the old promo stuff. Looks like Adelaide Hills in the background - anyone know more?
04.01.2022 Who was this guy, anyone remember? I love the shot, a day in the office. Louise Dever says Glen Campbell (looks like his trademark sunnies too).
04.01.2022 Hey all, Ive pressed the REBOOT button!
03.01.2022 Is this guys name Greg, anyone remember? Testing my memory from around 2000, I think he was Melbourne-based and just did the Sydney runs? Photo is at the cute hostel place we stayed the night on Raymond Island in the Gippsland Lakes.
03.01.2022 Boys will be boys. Thanks to Dallas, Steve and their make-up artists for this special shot.
03.01.2022 You can see here why Wayward Bus won awards. Thanks for the typically bright pose JB.
03.01.2022 Many years before Wayward Bus was going up the Red Centre from Adelaide, there was the legend of Lewis Bros. Viv Ireland - RESPECT!
01.01.2022 Priscilla-era contribution from Ian McPhee. More to come, Ians sent in his collection! How do you like the Wayward Bugs variation?
