When I move at the speed of my body and not the speed of my brain, I am happier Today as you step onto your mat consider spending more time, listening, feeling and observing your body and moving at its speed, and less time telling your body what to do and making it move of your thoughts. 17.01.2022 Discovering our internal Fitbit is our theme for this week... Nothing ever becomes real till it is experienced. John Keats, poet... In this day and age we have come to rely on technology to track our movements....it’s the in thing to know how we are performing, how many steps you have taken, how far you have gone, how many calories you have burnt, how fast your heart is beating...I am sure technology will tell you how many breaths you take in a day...recording your rate of respiration so you know whether you are breathing fast or slow...Let’s face it technology has the power to remind us when to rest, play, meditate, work and sleep if we want it to So Let’s ponder this thought...has the smart watch, the Fitbit that we strap to our wrists taken us away from our inner knowing, is our internal awareness giving way to external influences in order to understand what our bodies are doing, thinking and feeling, does technology take away the real experience of movement in the moment.. Wow it’s great you walked 13,000 steps, and that your heart rate has increased and you have burnt a few calories, and that you walked so many kilometres and are getting fitter...is that more important than knowing how your body, mind and breath responded to that movement and that moment... Today on your mat turn on your own internal Fitbit... it is called focus, sensory awareness, presence, intuition, inner intelligence, interoception there will be no facts or figures for you to analyse....just a turning inwards...observe, notice, feel, experience and remember... Ponder this thought Our Asanas and movement sequences are questions not answers Our practice is not about seeking the right answers but rather it's about asking questions. Today on your mat ask yourself Am I at ease?... Can I create ease in my body right now? What is the quality of my attention? Am I inwardly present? Where do I need to soften? Do I need to self adjust? By asking questions we gain a greater understanding and insight of what our needs are in any one moment. There is no wrong or right question, there is no wrong or right answer. Pause ask the question and let the body reveal the answer.. See you at yoga somewhere, sometime this week.. See more
