23.01.2022 Freedom, generally, is having the ability to act or change without constraint. Something is "free" if it can change easily and is not constrained in its present state. In philosophy and religion, it is associated with having free will and being without undue or unjust constraints, or enslavement, and is an idea closely related to the concept of liberty. A person has the freedom to do things that will not, in theory or in practice, be prevented by other forces. Outside of the ...human realm, freedom generally does not have this political or psychological dimension. A rusty lock might be oiled so that the key has the freedom to turn, undergrowth may be hacked away to give a newly planted sapling freedom to grow, or a mathematician may study an equation having many degrees of freedom. In physics or engineering, the mathematical concept may also be applied to a body or system constrained by a set of equations, whose degrees of freedom describe the number of independent motions that are allowed to it. . . . #freedom #psychological #philosophy #religion #ndis #ndisprovider #participants See more

21.01.2022 #Get To Know Your Support Workers# Hi! My name is Emmanuel (call me Manny, it’s a lot shorter and easier). I’m a support worker with wazka support services and currently working my way towards a team leader with the service provider! I grew up in mirboo north (south Gippsland) but moved to south east Melbourne about 8 years ago. I have a range of hobbies and passions from gaming in my spare time and cooking! I love music of all sorts, enjoy cars and pretty much anything with... a motor. I also have 2 beautiful English Staffy’s (dogs). Initially I contacted the amazing team enquiring about placement after doing a Diploma of Community Services, this was followed up by an informal chat where we talked about my previous experiences as a Youth Worker and experience in hospitality prior to youth work, as well as after. I explained to them in my interview that my brother had previously had a motorbike accident and as a result of that he sustained an acquired brain injury. Through this I was able to see a lack of people in the industry, especially of those that were genuinely compassionate for they’re clients and able to empathise with them while interacting in a positive way with the clients needs as well as interests/hobbies of theirs in mind. For a lot of people a task as simple as going down to the shops or to a cafe is easy, but for others like my brother this could be a massive challenge, from the physical distance, lack of transport, physical barriers or the social aspect and being able to deal with interacting with others. After my interview I started almost immediately and have already gotten to meet so many fun participants and look forward to meeting many more! For me, working in this industry isn’t so much of a job, it’s a passion! Everyone is different with their needs, and it doesn’t matter who you are. Sometimes all we need is a helping hand to achieve goals in life no matter how big or small they may seem to us, it’s individually based

12.01.2022 The psychosocial approach looks at individuals in the context of the combined influence that psychological factors and the surrounding social environment have on their physical and mental wellness and their ability to function. This approach is used in a broad range of helping professions in health and social care settings as well as by medical and social science researchers. People may not be fully aware of the relationship between their mental and emotional wellbeing and th...e environment. It was first commonly used by psychologist Erik Erikson in his description of the stages of psychosocial development. Mary Richmond, pioneer of American social work regarded there to be a linear relationship between cause and effect in a diagnostic process. In 1941 Gordon Hamilton renamed the 1917 concept of "social diagnosis" as "psychosocial study". Psychosocial study was further developed by Hollis in 1964 with emphasis in treatment model. It is contrasted with diverse social psychology, which attempts to explain social patterns within the individual. Problems that occur in one's psychosocial functioning can be referred to as "psychosocial dysfunction" or "psychosocial morbidity." This refers to the lack of development or diverse atrophy of the psychosocial self, often occurring alongside other dysfunctions that may be physical, emotional, or cognitive in nature. Adolf Meyer in the late 1800s stated "We cannot understand the individual presentation of mental illness, [and perpetuating factors] without knowing how that person functions in the environment," psychosocial assessment stems from this idea. Scholarly societies in this field bring together researchers, academics and practitioners who are interested in contributing to the development of this inter/trans-disciplinary field of study. . . #ndis #ndisprovider #participants #psychosocial #disability #mentalhealth #mentalillness See more

10.01.2022 What Is ADHD? ADHD stands for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. It is a medical condition. A person with ADHD has differences in brain development and brain activity that affect attention, the ability to sit still, and self-control. ADHD can affect a child at school, at home, and in friendships. What Are the Signs of ADHD?... All kids struggle at times to pay attention, listen and follow directions, sit still, or wait their turn. But for kids with ADHD, the struggles are harder and happen more often. Kids with ADHD may have signs from one, two, or all three of these categories: Inattentive. Kids who are inattentive (easily distracted) have trouble focusing their attention, concentrating, and staying on task. They may not listen well to directions, may miss important details, and may not finish what they start. They may daydream or dawdle too much. They may seem absent-minded or forgetful, and lose track of their things. Hyperactive. Kids who are hyperactive are fidgety, restless, and easily bored. They may have trouble sitting still, or staying quiet when needed. They may rush through things and make careless mistakes. They may climb, jump, or roughhouse when they shouldn't. Without meaning to, they may act in ways that disrupt others. Impulsive. Kids who are impulsive act too quickly before thinking. They often interrupt, might push or grab, and find it hard to wait. They may do things without asking for permission, take things that aren't theirs, or act in ways that are risky. They may have emotional reactions that seem too intense for the situation. Sometimes parents and teachers notice signs of ADHD when a child is very young. But it's normal for little kids to be distractible, restless, impatient, or impulsive these things don't always mean that a child has ADHD. . . . #adhd #add #children #impulsive #hyperactive inattentive #ndis #ndisprovider #participants

01.01.2022 In April 2018, Peta lost her brother Luke to suicide. He was in the military and served in Afghanistan. He never came back the same and battled PTSD. From this, Leah and Peta realised the lack of support men have for their mental health. So they decided to Build A Brotherhood, a place where men can come to share their struggles and receive support if that is what is wanted. With Leah being in the welfare field for over 30 years, also being a drug/alcohol counsellor and family... therapist they knew they could make a difference. Twice a month they hold free men’s support groups in hope to end men suffering in silence. Included in their support group they also run their Basic Life Skills Course in the second half. They also offer to run this with workplaces via zoom too. Please contact the ladies at [email protected] for further information. The subjects that are covered are: Self care techniques Anger management techniques Emotional regulating techniques Communication Skills Healthy Boundaries Relationship issues Stress management techniques Grief and loss suffered from trauma or abandonment Values and Core Beliefs The men from their support groups also organise events together like camping and other things. They also do couples workshops and workshops for women who want to learn how to support the men in their lives. They also share men’s stories on their Instagram @_buildabrotherhood in hope to encourage others that it is ok to open up about theirs too. They have made this merchandise to raise awareness for their groups and to also raise awareness for men’s mental heath. They merchandise is made to order so it does take around 4-6 weeks after you order to receive. Please keep this in mind when ordering. Keep an eye on their social media for when they are taking orders. If payments online are shut they are in the middle of processing an order. Thank you all for your love and support. Their vision is in the loving memory of Luke Bray
