22.01.2022 I move better in water than on land. My mom always said Id be a swimmer, but when I was younger I flat out refused because you know, us stubborn kids cant let... our parents be right I still remember my first swim lessons. After the first session the instructor told my mom I should join the swim team. After that I was hooked. I was a breaststroker who turned to butterfly after a knee injury. I ended up going from competitive swimmer to lifeguard to swim instructor to pool manage to swim coach. I lived and breathed everything to do with swimming and I loved it. When I moved to the UK as an adult, I took up rowing. I went from being in the water to on it. I loved the team aspect of rowing and the fact that I was once again doing something involving water. I believe everyone can find a form of exercise that they love. Maybe swimming isnt your thing but you love the feeling of riding a bike? Maybe the challenges of CrossFit gets you excited? Perhaps its bouldering or rock climbing? Whatever it is, find it and embrace it. Because the more you enjoy it, the better chance you have of sticking with it and improving your health and fitness. Whats your favourite physical activity to participate in? If you havent done it in a while, I challenge you to pick it back up again. Youll thank yourself later.

19.01.2022 As mamas its so hard to find the time to have a on your own, let alone to exercise. When I havent been able to crawl out of bed early enough or stay awake l...ate enough, I workout with anywhere from 1 to 3 kids around Here I was luckily enough to only have 1 to entertain. I brought a bunch of her toys into the living room, put on some dance music (she loves it) and hoped for the best. We did a dance warm up together and then she played while I lifted. And the best part... at the end she picked up her weights (they are very light) and started to exercise with me. Not only did I do something good for myself but she is learning the importance of staying healthy and strong. I challenge you to do 1 workout this week around your little (or not so little) ones. Add an extra one in where you thought you couldnt. Youll be surprised at how good it feels and how much they learn from watching you.

13.01.2022 Hold your hand up if youre like me and have a snacking problem I love a good nibble between meals. Im not sure if its because as a mom of 3 its hard to... find the time to make myself 3 meals a day, let alone sit down and eat them? I think over the years Ive trained myself to grab what I can, when I can, as fast as I can. However, all that snacking can add a lot of calories to my day. I was getting really frustrated that I couldnt seem to lose some of the extra inches Ive been carrying. (Notice I say inches and not pounds! Ill save my rant about scales for another day.) I knew the problem was snacking too much in between meals and acting like a garbage disposal for my kids leftovers (I hate throwing food away). The thing that has really helped me is writing down everything I eat during the day and sending it to someone who can hold me accountable. I dont count calories or eat a restricted diet, but boy has this helped me cut back on my portion sizes. Theres no way Im sending a food diary that looks like a bakers inventory to anyone. I challenge you to start writing down what you eat and sending it to someone you trust. You can type it straight into your phone and just forward it along. Feel free to send them to me! I guarantee it will make you curb some bad habits and figure out how to eat in a more balanced way. If you have any questions about eating healthier, just drop a comment below or send me a message. 12.01.2022 What is love? My dad taught me growing up that real love means doing what is best for others even unto the sacrifice of yourself. Like many of you Ive been tr...ying to wrap my head around what is happening in the world at the moment. My family is currently in lock down. Yes I am young and healthy, and my kids are young, but my husband is in the high risk category. If something happened to him our world would be turned upside down. I believe what we (and I dont just mean my family) are doing is an act of love. We are sacrificing money, comforts, entertainment, education etc because we love. We are doing it for our family, friends, community, city, country, world. Together we are choosing to do what is best for others. If that means my kids get to grow up with their dad and grandparents, then its all worth it. Every life saved is worth the temporary uncertainty and sacrifice. So thank you. Thank you to everyone showing love. Thank you to those practicing social distancing. Thank you to the doctors and nurses risking their lives. Thank you to the people making sure we can all still eat. Thank you to the teachers working so hard to keep children learning. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

12.01.2022 Finding it hard to eat healthy on the go? As a human, let alone a mum, life is so busy. Getting my 5 a day feels like an Olympic sport Its so easy to grab ...something full of empty calories and rush around to the next thing on the schedule. Here is a little trick I use that makes staying on track nutritionally so much easier. Cut up 3-4 days worth of salad veg in one sitting. Store it in airtight containers in the fridge and then just dump it on to your greens of choice. I then like to add some seeds, dried fruit and sometimes a protein (tuna or chicken breast are my favs). It literally takes me 30 seconds to put together a super healthy lunch. Try it out. Itll become your new version of fast food

11.01.2022 As moms we have so much on our plate. There is, and always will be, something that needs to be done. But when do we take time for ourselves? Never? Late at ni...ght when we should be sleeping but want just a few more quiet minutes? Tonight I was unexpectedly solo for bath and bedtime. Not an easy thing when you have 3 (or any number of children really). Its now time for my workout and there are so many other things I could get done. But I have a choice to make. Do I fold the laundry and tidy the kitchen? Or do I lift weights? It would be so easy to skip my workout, but if I do that, Ill never see the results that I want. So tonight, all the other things can wait. Tonight Im going to crush a workout and take another small step towards my health and fitness goals.

05.01.2022 Who else loves a full fruit bowl? Every Friday, after I do my weekly shop, I fill our bowl on the table with washed fruit. Ill be honest, weve gone through ph...ases of not having a fruit bowl or filling it up and putting it on the counter, and you know what happened? No one in the house ate fruit! Now it gets emptied most weeks. Here are a few tips to helping you and your family achieve your 5 a day. 1. Buy mostly what people in your house will eat. Theres no point in getting a bunch of stuff that will be left to go bad and get thrown out. 2. Keep it where its easily accessible. If its out where everyone can help themselves, its a lot more likely to be enjoyed. 3. Hide the crap. Yep, put all the artificially sweetened stuff away where its out of sight and not easy to grab. Pure laziness will have you reaching for that nice juicy apple instead.

04.01.2022 While we were watching the amazing Eliud Kipchoge run a marathon in under 2 hours, my 6 year old turned to me and asked if a girl has ever done it. I said no, a...nd she declared that she wanted to. I found myself starting to tell her reasons why she might not be able to accomplish that goal. Then I stopped and thought why? Why am I already putting limits on her dreams? Isnt that the point of #nohumanislimited ??? So Ava, you go for that dream. And dont let anyone, not even your mother, talk you out of it. This morning I went for a run. It may not be a marathon in under 2 hours but this is a big deal for me. Ive been trying to increase my distance lately and then Ill be working on my pace. My goal is a half marathon in under 2 hours 10 minutes. Yours might be to run for a mile without stopping. Whatever your goal is, dont let anyone else stop you. Go for it, and dont compare yourself to other people. Be like Ava and reach for the impossible because everything done for the first time was once thought of as impossible. #madeformore

03.01.2022 When youre stuck in the mud and your amazing mama decides to take a picture first before helping you Mother of the year award here lol. On a more seriou...s note, this is pretty much how Ive felt for the past few weeks. I picked up a small injury and had to take a week off running. Does anyone else get really out of sorts and grumpy when they cant exercise? I have a much harder time being patient with my family and I tend to eat a lot more rubbish. Its hard to get back into a routine when youve been out of one. But its important not to give up on all the hard work youve put in. Set backs happen, dont let them define your future. Heres to getting out of the mud!
