09.01.2022 Wbtaz Consulting wishes all - Happy Hanukkah! Wishing you every happiness this Holiday Season and throughout the coming year!

07.01.2022 Very few small businesses have a dedicated IT Department or Help Desk. However, small businesses still have many of the needs of a large organisation and they still need to make sure those tasks are carried out by someone for the business. This checklist aims to provide small businesses with prompts for further action. First, small businesses increasingly use cloud computing in preference to their own IT contractor as cloud... computing becomes cheap and abundant. Cloud computing gives small businesses the same capabilities as larger businesses, and so levels the playing field with bigger businesses and is a popular option in delivering IT services in Australian small to medium enterprises (SMEs). Second, the use of online social media (Facebook, Twitter and so on) has increased exponentially. Social media barely registered on our radar in 2005. Today, small businesses rely on social media to spread the word and definitely dread a bad Yelp review. Small businesses look to manage and react to their social media presence on demand. Third, mobile devices such as iPhones (2007), iPads (2010), and Android tablets (2011) have had a huge impact. These tools have allowed new services and products to be provided by small businesses. However, the adoption of Bring Your Own Device (BYOD), where employees use their personal devices to store business data, opens up new concerns and issues. Fourth, although viruses and Trojan horses very much existed in 2005, concerted ransomware attacks such as WannaCry, Cryptolocker and their related derivatives have adopted commercially-focused business models to the cost of many small businesses. In the interconnected world of businesses, cybersecurity has become a key point of concern. Finally, though, the business needs to ensure that it is constantly addressing its own compliance needs, and monitoring changes to legislation. This means the business must keep its strategy for using IT current and ensure that arrangements with service providers address regularly changing business compliance issues. For example, in 2014 the Australian Privacy Principles received a major update, and in February 2018, Australias mandatory data breach notification laws came into effect. The following pages discuss each of these five issues: cloud computing, social media, mobile devices, cybersecurity and the need to monitor business compliance needs. We end this discussion with a consideration of how small businesses can navigate the minefield that is selecting key providers of these IT services. https://www.cpaaustralia.com.au//it-checklist-for-small-bu

03.01.2022 The data safety should have the highest significance for any company. Any business should ask themselves: "What would I pay if you lost all of your data?". In our experience, some companies willing to pay well into 6-figures to get their data back. Cybercriminals are well aware of this, and there are many cases of stealing and exploiting data, regardless of company size. Many small businesses lack the backup infrastructure and security resources needed to protect their data. ...Especially today, when the remote work has pushed users outside of the security perimeter, this results in a significant increase in malicious activity, and it targets Mac devices as well as Windows. Today, Garmin has announced that they are recovering from last week's ransomware attack. They bought-out the decryption key and now are recovering. Protecting your valuable and sensitive data from device to cloud could be easier than you think. Talk to us today to learn what can we do to keep your information safe, while it is not late.
