23.01.2022 Hunting as it was in Queensland back when. Have a watch to fill in isolation time. Produced by John Haenks and featuring club members Elio Colasimone and I. Enjoy

17.01.2022 COVER: In memory of Dom Colasimone. Come and join the Wide Bay Working Gundog Club's Retrieving Trials on the 28th/29th March when his memorial trial will be held. A great weekend for sharing memories.

13.01.2022 Wide Bay Working Gundog Club expressed an interest in attempting to run a retrieving Trial under Covidsafe restrictions, however after much deliberation & study of Dogs Q covidsafe rules, I am sorry to say that the club have decided not to proceed with this plan. If or when the restrictions made on clubs are lifted (or Eased) we will endeavour to have another look at the situation, probably not in 2020. Stay safe everyone, cheers Wendy Michalk

11.01.2022 Having just got back from Italy - let’s hope Australia doesn’t suffer anywhere near the same tragic trauma and dislocation. It’s clear massive resilience and cooperation is required from everyone to see this nation through. With the unfortunate postponement/cancellation of the Wide Bay Working Gundog Club's - Dom Colasimone Memorial Retrieving Trial I thought I'd put up a picture of last year's winners and judges - and a little montage of Dom's involvement with gundogs in competition and for personal use..and may the light at the end of this dark tunnel come sooner rather than later.

11.01.2022 Best news for months: As of yesterday, there are 78 confirmed COVID-19 vaccine candidates globally, 5 of which have already entered clinical trials... From Nature Briefing...... Friends, Have a great Easter-not a time for travel and barbies but get the dogs out, give family and friends a call, use FaceTime, Messenger, Skype etc and say Gidday and ask How are you going? Don

09.01.2022 Blast from the past

09.01.2022 PROFILING: R.T. Champion MACROPUS MONTY (Ace) GSP male Breeder: Mr. Max Farthing NSW (Deceased) Sire: Axel Vom Bergenwald (Imp Germany) Canada : Jeff Martin Dam: Saetta Drissa (Breeder: E.Colasimone)... Montage of Ace images attached: HANDLERS: Wendy Michalk Dom Colasimone A bit for the gundog history buffs to mull over re past dogs and current/past handlers domiciled in Bundaberg. Something to hopefully lift us all during this forced break.. More will follow. Ace was worked as an out and out hunting dog but was also trained to handle Retrieving Trials.. Those who've had a go at these trials will appreciative the level of skill required in both dog and handler to be successful - especially at the elite level. ACE's Record: Handled by both Wendy and Dom. ALL AGE: Firsts: 16 Seconds 17 Thirds: 4 Winner of: Great Northern, Bega Cup, Wide Bay Cup and placed 3rd and 4th in State Championships. Progeny: Three Retrieving Trial Champions and One FT & RT Champion.

09.01.2022 Please note from Cathie Jackson, Secretary of Qld RAFT:- Monday October 19, 2020. Firstly, I would like to advise the Qld Retrieving community that I have been appointed to the RAFT QLD and have accepted the position of Secretary.... FEEDBACK SOUGHT FROM NATIONAL RAFT The Chair of the National Raft has requested feedback from the Retrieving community on the following: The National Discipline Chairman of SSAA WGAA, Mr Jim Jeffrey, has submitted a proposal to the ANKC to allow Working Gundog Titles achieved at WGAA events to be recorded on the dog's ANKC Pedigree. This would of course, apply to pedigree dogs registered with the ANKC. I ask that Queensland members please reply by personal message or email, [email protected], with either Agree, or Disagree, by 26 October. No long explanation is required. Once the National Chair has received the majority viewpoint he will convey this to ANKC for their consideration. Again, Queensland members, reply via PM or email please. [email protected] Cathie. ps: I feel sure Mr Jeffrey would be happy to offer his rationale if anyone feels they would like to contact him before voting. ENDS
