14.01.2022 Vale Wesley Zdanowicz . I received the sad news today that we lost one of our most loyal and dedicated students, Wesley Zdanowicz. Wes joined West Coast Aikido in 2002. Moving steadily through the ranks without too much fuss, which was Wes' way, to achieve the rank of Nidan (Second Degree Black Belt) in 2016. Wes was also a member of our Leadership Team helping to teach the teen and adult classes when time permitted, passing along his extensive knowledge. Wes did not say too... much but was always willing to lend a hand and help his fellow students better themselves in the art of Aikido. Many do not know, but Wes had been battling a form of cancer for several months and was receiving treatment for it. But you would never know as he said very little about it! Even when you pressed him he never let on or complained. Aside from taking his usual vacations away Wes very rarely missed a training session. Wes truly had the Samurai spirit. Wes will be sorely missed by all at West Coast Aikido. It won't be same not having him at training analysing every technique and adding his two cents worth. We will never forget Wes' commitment and many valuable contributions to our school. Rest in Peace my friend. Dom arigato gozaimashta Thank you very much for being a student of mine. I don't normally promote these types of situations but unfortunately it is the reality of the world we live in. It is all the more reason why you should learn common sense self defence tactics and technique and avoid becoming another victim.
