23.01.2022 Mona here. I imagine that the board will be barred entry tomorrow as we resigned as board members and as members of the association. It is my understanding that members of the public are allowed to attend meetings. Will anyone support us if we attend?

23.01.2022 Dear valued members and friends. We have very exciting news! We are the recipients of the wonderful Kate Ellis and her Stronger Communities Grant. This means that by the end of June 2019 we will be completely refurbishing the Womens Community Centre. Its going to look and feel fabulous! We are looking forward to Kate coming and launching our new look Centre. We thank her and her team with deep appreciation for supporting such an important cause, history and its future. And for understanding that womens needs are invaluable. So watch this space everybody...

10.01.2022 Please note the following : That the centre was closed temporarily AFTER AND DUE TO the raid by Ms. McLean, Ms. Gibbs, Ms. Khoo and Ms. Myer. The raid took place on March the 18 after yet another threatening legal letter from the lawyers of Ms. McLean. Thinking they had managed to topple the board through threats to take them to the Supreme Court if they did not 'hand back' the centre to the former voluntary centre manager (Ms. McLean), this group of 4, posted the layer's let...ter, separated staff into various rooms, demanded passwords and keys and informed all that they were there to take over. We have testimonials from the volunteers who were present as well as from Council who were forced to evict the raiders from the premises. This was a shocking and brutal assault on what is supposed to be a safe space for women. If you have any doubt about the trauma that this caused, I can tell you that one volunteer was so frightened that she wet herself. Following this storming of the centre, our centre manager resigned. This left the board with traumatised volunteers, no centre manager and threats of further legal action. After many board meetings, many hours of consultation with various interested parties, it was decided that the most democratic and constitutional way ahead would be to consult members about what they wanted to do i.e. go to a Special General Meeting. This was the last thing this board (the 3rd to go in 10 months due to the campaign waged by the above mentioned) could do for the centre. That these ex-WCC members (1 already suspended for causing detriment to the centre and the others suspended after their raid on the centre) have now self declared themselves an interim board is entirely unconstitutional. They have no authourity to do this. To return to their 'leadership' would be a retrograde step. Lastly, let it be noted that this last board worked hard to operate transparently and constitionally. To this end, we did a great deal of community consultation amongst WCC members and routinely invited members to board meetings. You will see that many members will express their dissatisfaction with this 'interim board' by staying away from the centre and from tomorrow's meeting. This is because they know that the centre was closed DUE to the actions of those now calling themselves an 'interim board'. Thank you very much to all the members who supported me, the board and the centre. It was an honour to manage the centre (vountarily) for 3 months and to serve on the board. I only wish that we could have fully implemented the projects that we started but unfortunately we were undermined at every turn. I wish you all the very best and hope that you choose carefully tomorrow and navigate the centre into safer waters. See more
