25.01.2022 Some great ideas here to help keep children and dogs occupied and happy during the holidays.

24.01.2022 This pretty girl is Maggie May, a Border Collie, and she loves balls.

24.01.2022 Don’t forget we’re still required to practice social distancing. So, tomorrow whether you’re in class, watching from the sidelines, or enjoying a snack and drink at Cafe Maxi - please make sure you stay 1.5 metres apart. And please make sure you check-in either by scanning the QR code that will be posted around the club rooms or filling out your details on the sheets that will be on the tables near the Cafe. Thank you for helping to keep everyone safe .

24.01.2022 This cutie is Harry, a Spoodle, and he loves his toys .

23.01.2022 Our next Volunteer is another of our Instructors - Leann. Hi all! I have enjoyed spending Sunday mornings at WCDTC for a few years now, initially as a student, training my own dog, Ryder, and then as an Instructor helping others to train their dogs. I have a particular soft spot for special needs dogs (fearful, shy, nervous, rescue dogs etc.) I enjoy meeting new dogs and their people, so don't be shy, come up and say hello!

23.01.2022 It's official - our last class for 2020 is the 6th December. Make sure you pop it in your calendar. Bring the whole family along for a fun filled morning.

22.01.2022 Some of our September graduates. Congratulations everyone .

22.01.2022 Our current class times.

21.01.2022 Our last class will go ahead.

20.01.2022 Our next Volunteer under the spotlight is Anja. I have been going to classes with Sam for 12 years. Sam enjoys every minute, meeting puppies and friends, and helping to set up Rally. He has gone through every class and gained his Basic Obedience Ribbon. Four years ago, I started doing Rally with him. He really enjoyed it and passed all the levels. Once we’d completed it, I decided I’d like to teach Rally and give other members the opportunity to do something that’s fun and bu...ilds their confidence both in themselves and in their dog. I’m proud of the members who have taken the leap and are following in Sam's and my footsteps. Their confidence has grown, and their dogs are enjoying the challenge.

20.01.2022 This pretty girl is Oakley, a Koolie. She loves food and other dogs .

18.01.2022 There are so many reasons not to let your dog run up to others, this is only one of them.

17.01.2022 A couple of the gorgeous pups that were profiled on our page earlier this year .

17.01.2022 Please remember one of the hottest surfaces can be the sand at the beach.

17.01.2022 Sound on. An example of how to help your dog feel safe around things that 'don't belong' in their world. Offer support, be calm and let them approach as close and as quickly as they want.

17.01.2022 Please remember to check-in when you come to class tomorrow

16.01.2022 There won’t be a Rally Class tomorrow (this Sunday 27th June), but it will be back next week (Sunday 4th July). .

16.01.2022 If you are looking to join us in 2021 please be aware that all Induction Sessions must be booked via our website - https://www.woodvilledogtraining.com.au/ - The February Induction Sessions are now full, but you will be placed on a waitlist.

16.01.2022 This handsome boy is Burke, Kelpie, and he loves food .

15.01.2022 With the restrictions that are in place until the 1st of December our training for tomorrow must be cancelled. We are truly sorry to be pulling the pin on it at such late notice, be we have been going over all the information available in the hope that it could go ahead. We will update you, on the status of the 6th, as soon as we can.

15.01.2022 Please note - At this time our classes are full, and so is the waitlist. If you are on our waitlist you will be notified to attend an Induction Session over the next couple of months. We're asking for everyone to be patient as we work on ways to assist more people, but our resources (trained volunteers) are limited at this time. Last year threw everyone, and while it was great to see so many deserving dogs get new homes, once restrictions eased all dog training organisations ...were inundated with people wanting to train their new family members. Please check this page regularly, as we will post any updates as soon as they occur. Remember - If you are on the waitlist for the Induction Session you can still come along on a Sunday morning, anytime between 8.30-11.00am, to see how classes are run and get your pup used to the sights and sounds at the club. Please keep your pup on lead, check-in using the QR code, and pick up a visitor badge from the Registrar or the shop. We look forward to seeing you.

14.01.2022 We are thrilled to be able to resume our training and will do so on the 29th November. With the confirmed COVID cases being so close to home, we thought it best to wait until next week. And our last class for 2020 (6th December) will now also go ahead, so we can all finish the year off on a positive note. We hope you’ll join us on the 29th and the 6th.... Claire Lowe, President

14.01.2022 Hi everyone, training has been canceled because of the weather. See you all next week.

11.01.2022 We are a Positive Reinforcement training club, working towards Force-Free certification, and we’re always looking for volunteers. Do you know someone who might be interested? Please share this post with them. Maybe you're interested? Read on to find out more -... We’d love our classes to be smaller so there’s more opportunity for owner / Instructor interaction, but for that to happen we need more volunteer Instructors. We will provide the training at no cost to you. All you need to give is some of your time. The majority of the training is done on the job as you assist one of the Instructors on Sundays, as well as the occasional group Instructor training sessions that ensures all Instructors have up-to-date training information. You will still be able to attend classes to train your dog, and once your pup has graduated they can still attend the club with you and continue to socialise with other dogs. The process of learning to become an Instructor isn’t as difficult as you might think. As a club member you’ve already learnt some of the basics just by listening to your Instructor, and following their instructions. Taking the next step to become an Instructor yourself might seem daunting, but we can assure you it will be a rewarding one. You will be helping other dog lovers train their dogs, and you’ll see the impact you have on them happen right before your eyes. And there are also other ways you could volunteer and help out with your clubthe canteen, shop, setting equipment up and putting it away, etc. If you’d like to know more about volunteering at the club, please message or email us and Claire, our President, will contact you.

06.01.2022 Our next volunteer under the spotlight is Ron. Hi Everybody. Together with my wife Bev, we have had an association with the club for almost 15 years. I’m one of the Instructors, and Bev is one half of the two Bevs who manage Café Maxi and cook up the marvellous Sunday morning breakfasts. B1 and B2 as we know them, have grown the café to its iconic status. Their speciality, in my opinion, is their egg and bacon (or ham) sandwiches.... I started at the club, as a member just like many of you, with my beautiful Kelpie pup Kayla. As you may know Kelpies are a very robust, energetic, and intelligent breed of dog. Often too smart for their own good. Kayla and I progressed through the old Grades 1 and 2, and I became curious and interested in becoming an Instructor. With a lot of help and encouragement from Claire our President, John our Vice President, the head trainer at the time, as well as other trainers, and a few books and DVDs on dog training, I was finally thrown to the wolves and began instructing. By the time Kayla got to Grade 3 I had signed her up as my assistant and she was worth her weight in gold. She went through all the grades and graduated from Basic Obedience which is now the Advanced Training Class. Sadly, we lost Kayla when she was only 6 years old. Over the next 12 months I was going solo until about 5 years ago when Bella arrived. That’s when I stepped back into the shoes of a handler to take her through the classes, as well as being an Instructor. For those of you who have gone through Class 1A, Bella is the Border Collie / Kelpie Cross who now assists Jean and I. Jean was the first Instructor I met when I joined the club and I still use a lot of what I learnt from her in my classes today. I find a lot of satisfaction comes from seeing the progress that the dogs of all shapes and sizes, and their handlers make every week. So, enjoy your dogs, show them lots of love and fun, and in return they will reward you ten times over, with no questions asked. We need new instructors and other volunteers, so if you can help please talk to any of the committee members, including the Instructors.

03.01.2022 The AWL have a great article on their website - How to: Make your own Extreme Enrichment Box. Follow the link to the article and instructions - https://awl.org.au//how-make-your-own-extreme-enrichment-b

03.01.2022 Our next volunteer under the spotlight is Bev, the other half of the Amazing Bevs who run Café Maxi for all of us. I started coming to the Woodville dog club about 14 years ago with my husband Ron. We had a new puppy called Kayla, an energetic Kelpie, who needed a lot of exercise and training. I took Kayla for lessons till she reached grade 3 and did some training with her at home. Then Ron became interested in becoming an Instructor, so he took Kayla with him as his assist...ant. Around that time volunteers were needed in the canteen, so I put my hand up, and I’ve been there ever since about 10 years. I’m lucky to work with my best friend Bev Stuckey. We’re kept very busy but we enjoy it, and love seeing our members and their four-legged companions every week. We now have Bella, a Border Collie / Kelpie Cross, who assists Ron with his class. We all look forward to being at the club on Sunday’s.

02.01.2022 This cute boy is Dusty, a Sarplaninac x American Staffy, and he loves play dates.

02.01.2022 We hope you all have a great long weekend and look forward to seeing everyone again on the 11th.

02.01.2022 For the start of our 2021 training year some of our class times have changed.

01.01.2022 HI Everyone, Unfortunately, due to the latest restrictions we are cancelling all training, and our last class for 2020. We are truly disappointed, but we must comply with the government’s directives, and everyone’s safety is paramount.... We will endeavour to open the shop sometime prior to the end of the year for people to stock up for the holidays if we are allowed. Any updates will appear here, on our Facebook page. Our best wishes for a safe family Christmas. Claire Lowe President
