21.01.2022 UPDATE | Hello everyone, West Coast Sentinel journalist, Luca Cetta, here. As you may have known, I was waiting to hear about the future of the West Coast Sentinel and Eyre Peninsula Tribune following the expected end of our stand down on September 25th. Unfortunately, due the current climate of the COVID-19 pandemic, Australian Community Media, the company that owns the papers, has informed us they decided to continue the stand down of the West Coast Sentinel and Eyre Penins...ula Tribune until early 2021 at this stage. The company has told us this is temporary, and may be brought forward if the situation changes. As for the staff, I am continuing to work part time putting together local stories for the Sentinel and Tribune websites, as well as in print in the Port Lincoln Times. If you have any stories you would like to see published on our websites and in the Times, please email [email protected]. Similarly, advertising is still available on our websites and in the Times. If you are interested, please contact Stacey Lawrie at [email protected]. West Coast Sentinel and Eyre Peninsula Tribune sales representative Kathrine Norris will remain stood down until the papers come back. Tribune journalist Lauren Fitzgerald remains on maternity leave until June, and it's unlikely a replacement will be hired. We are all disappointed to not bring you better news at this time regarding our beloved papers. We will continue to advocate for the important role that local newspapers play in our communities. Any updates regarding our papers will be sent through to you as soon as we hear them. We thank you for your understanding.
