03.01.2022 Did you know? You might think that dogs pant mostly when they exercise or exert themself. Yes, It serves as a way to cool themselves. Dogs don’t have sweat glands all over their body like humans do, only on their paw pads and noses. ... This means dogs can’t sweat through their skin to cool off. Instead, they rely on panting. When dogs pant, the air moves quickly over their tongue, mouth, and the lining of their upper respiratory tract allowing moisture to evaporate and cool them down. It is estimated that a panting dog takes approximately 300 to 400 breaths per minutes instead of their usual 30 to 40. But not only... Dogs also pant when they are stressed, and you don't want to miss it. You might want to take your dog into a calm situation and give them a bowl of water just to be safe.
