25.01.2022 Some great insights from Matt Sherwood on the markets looking forward. Via Ricardo Goncalves from SBS.
25.01.2022 A great article from Robin Bowerman at Vanguard. "Times like this remind us why the argument for diversifying your portfolio across the full range of asset classes and setting the asset allocation in line with our risk profile and investment goals makes such good sense. It can help temper the emotional impacts and allow you to sit tight and weather even a pandemic storm." "Perhaps that is another form of social distancing we can practice keep a healthy distance from that ac...count balance until markets have returned to something resembling normal service." Stay safe and follow the health guidance.

19.01.2022 Really interesting article from Hamish Douglass - Chief Investment Office for Magellan Asset Management. Three keys to the outlook are: 1. Duration of output gap - or loss of economic output 2. Policy response from Central Banks and Governments... 3. Changes in consumer behaviour See more
19.01.2022 Please read. It saddens me that so many people don't plan for this phase of life, when in reality the planning should start at least 5 - 10 years beforehand. Talk to your family about your wishes, talk to a Financial Planner and professional Estate Lawyers about how to prepare financially and legally for this phase in life. Good planning means that the right paperwork is in place and readily available to those who need to provide it when required. Good planning is structuring your assets ready for this phase. Good planning is understanding that your assets and income will be assessed at that time and will have an impact on the fees and charges that apply. Good planning is sensible and allows your family to adjust to this phase, spend time with you, rather than dealing with "issues" at this time in your life.
19.01.2022 Bailey trying out the office chair and loving the day in the office
18.01.2022 Great article from Peter Kelly on the early release of benefits from Super. At the end of the first week, the ATO had received more than 500,000 applications. While the access to cash is certainly justified in many circumstances, the potential risk is the decline in retirement savings - and also the potential impact on insurance held within Super.

16.01.2022 The latest update from Mark Teale - discussing the refundable accomodation deposit to Aged Care facilities.
15.01.2022 From Shane Oliver - a reminder that growth assets (shares and property) have to be viewed as long term investments. When share markets plunge as they did into March the standard questions are: What caused the fall? What’s the outlook? And what does it mean for superannuation? The correct answer to the latter should be nothing really, as super is a long-term investment and share market volatility is normal.
14.01.2022 Peter Kelly often talks about practicing living on your retirement budget before actually retiring. That way you will know if you can actually afford to retire. While we would always encourage you to enjoy life, it is worth looking at any potential wasted expenses. Maybe think twice before you buy something you don't actually need.
14.01.2022 The latest article from Mark Teale.

11.01.2022 Earlier this week I had the pleasure of touring the New Directions Aged Care Facility at Bellmere. Given my memories of visiting my elderly relatives in old style facilities, it was a very pleasant surprise. Gone were the residents all bunched together in a room in chairs watching TV. Instead I was greeted by a homely feel of a small town community. Facilities like own cafe, spa, gym, BBQ's, parks and connections to the outside community. Residents also playing their parts in being productive respecting their younger selves in roles as the receptionist in the spa and the farmer tending the onsite chickens. Very refreshing to see an approach based on respecting our elders needs to be in a place that feels like a home and promotes inclusiveness and options.

03.01.2022 In response to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Government announced reductions in the minimum pension payments. Being able to reduce the amount drawn from an account-based pension will only benefit those of you who are able to live on a reduced income. If you are currently drawing the minimum prescribed level of income from your pension account each year, many superannuation funds will simply apply the reduced percentage to their member’ s accounts from July 2020. This will come as a shock to many, particularly those relying on a set amount of income. If you have any questions on these provisions or you need help setting your pension payments, please make contact.
02.01.2022 Some more wisdom from Robin Bowerman - Vanguard Investments. "Uncertainty and the sense of loss of control are powerful emotions to grapple with. But what we know from past market events is that patience will be rewarded and recoveries can be just as sudden and strong." Stay safe everyone - and continue to follow the health guidelines.
01.01.2022 Business Owners can register for information and updates on the Jobkeeper $1,500 per fortnight subsidies at this ATO page. This applies to businesses significantly affected by COVID-19.
