25.01.2022 Big congratulations to Ryan Wood, co-founder of Wealth Seekers and father to his second baby girl. Thank you for sharing this photo with us, we wish you and your wife much joy and happiness with the safe arrival of your newest family member!! May you find babyhood and parenthood a wonderful and rewarding experience second time around. All the very best during this lovely moment in time.

25.01.2022 You may have heard the rule of thumb, "Save 10% of your income for retirement." But the question is: Is 10% over the course of your career really enough to fund your retirement? People say, "Life is short. Buy the shoes." Theyre wrong ... life is long! If you retire at 65, and your life expectancy is 85 years, you have to provide income for 20 more years with enough capital to cover increases in inflation.... Thats no small feat. Many Australians are putting their future independence at risk because theyre not taking the time to look beyond short-term expenses and savings goals or actually realise the importance of their Superannuation in retirement. We believe that, rather than thinking, Im retiring at 65, you should have a number in mind something you can work towards like, Im retiring at $1 million. Of course, choosing a dollar amount without a retirement income plan is almost as random as choosing a retirement age, but, with some help, you can be confident youll have enough money coming in to afford the lifestyle you want for as long you live. With the right focus, you may even have the option to quit your job well before the retirement age you currently have in mind. #retirewealthy #retirementgoals

If you havent taken any action or feeling a bit underwhelmed with where your finances are at, Id like to challenge and encourage you to START NOW! ... The power of time and money is a wonderful thing, and the sooner you get started the better results youll get. Dont get stuck in the inaction trap thats so common with money! Stop spending money on things that dont bring you joy and invest your time and energy into creating a future that that will! #yougotthis #wealthseekers

24.01.2022 Its easy to associate wealth with a bank balance; however, according to investment pioneer and philanthropist Sir John Templeton, it doesnt matter how much money youve got if you dont have gratitude. When asked, why gratitude? Sir John replied: Because if you have a billion dollars, and every day you live pissed off and frustrated, the quality of your life is called pissed off and frustrated. But if you have next to nothing, and are grateful for whatever it is you have, ...youre the richest person that youre going to know. For some people, the only thing they gain from money is the fear of losing it. They get so caught up in the game, they never work out if theyre winning. They never ask: How much is enough? Instead, they continue to spend their time in a job they dont like and to buy ever more expensive things to impress people they dont like. Being generous leads us to perceive others more positively and helps us to view our lives from a more social perspective that, in turn, can lead us to a greater appreciation of what we have. We believe the more you give the more you grow and you make the world a better place. Wishing you a great friday from the team at Wealth Seekers. #feelinggrateful #feelgoodfriday #morethanmoney

24.01.2022 I use to run a lot with friends. Near the end of a run one day, my friend said something that stuck with me: You didnt come this far to only come this far. Id seen the quote on Instagram before, but it was different hearing it in that moment, when I was exhausted and sweaty and willing the run to be over. I had ran hard, and hearing that quote made me realize that I didnt put in all that effort to give up in the last ten minutes, no matter how tired I was. The more I th...ought about the quote, the more inspired I became by it. In our fast-paced, results-driven society, I feel like theres so much emphasis on reaching the finish line that the journey of the race gets muddled. When we near the end we speed up, despite the steady pace we maintained throughout the race and the quality of our work becomes less important than the idea of finishing it. Then there are times when we get close to the finish line and give up altogether. Thinking its easier to stop what were doing than to work hard, push through the frustration and finish it. There have been many times in the past where I've worked hard for something, only to second guessed myself as the finishline nears. But this quote reminds me to finish the same way I started out: by working hard, not rushing towards the finish line, and not considering giving up unless its absolutely necessary. After all, I didnt come this far to only come this far. #wealthseekers #staythecourse

21.01.2022 I met with one of the most warm and welcoming families late last year to discuss their Superannuation and retirement plans. In advice, we meet lots of people, and over time some become friends, but there are few occasions when Ive been made to feel part of a family. As someone who really values family, meeting the Colluras and being welcomed into their home and invited to share dinner struck a chord with me.... Since meeting Mario, Tracie and their children, Ive gotten to know the Colluras and theyve shared their goals with me and what sparks their passion. This is when I learned that Mario Collura (Mars Art) is a very talented artist. Ive included a small selection of Marios sketches, all of which were hand drawn by eye (not traced or copied). Mario has real creative flare, and a gift for symmetry, balance and steady penmanship. When describing his work, Mario lights up, and its clear that the time he spends drawing brings vitality and joy to his life. Mario also mentioned the calm he feels when drawing and how the time he spends in his studio centres him. Mario has done several pieces for friends, family and people in the local community who have approached him off the back of the art he has shared on his Facebook and Instagram pages. Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/artbymarioc/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/art_by_marioc/ One of Marios goals is to have more time to work on his art. With a little over 10 years to retirement, hes continuing to build his portfolio (and clients) with the hope of pursuing his passion full-time prior to 65. Seeing Marios enthusiasm and energy got me thinking about the role passion plays is in our lives. Admittedly, there is no shortage of people (blogs, influencers, movies, documentaries etc) telling us to follow our passion. Its nice advice, its heart-warming advice . . . its great advice if you happen to know what your passion is. I know personally, there are times when passion is a tall order, and hard to reach. In times of confusion, loss, boredom, insecurity and distraction, the idea of "passion" can feel completely unachievable and impossible. During these times, it can be challenging to manage a smile let alone search for your passion. However, Ive found that having something youre passionate about, which sparks joy in your life during challenging times can help to shift your focus from despair and emptiness to purpose and fulfillment. And this is extremely important because our well-being is not measured only by money. I get the sense from Mario that both his family and the time he sets aside for his art provides him happiness, enjoyment, purpose and fulfillment in life. Thank you for sharing your passion with us Mario and for choosing Wealth Seekers #wealthseekers #followyourpassion #insprired #artistinresidence

21.01.2022 It was a very memorable morning at the office today. My business partner and I started Wealth Seekers at the beginning of 2018 in a serviced office in Brisbane's CBD. We worked hard, tackled some big challenges and learned a lot about ourselves and working in partnership. We also learned a lot about what our clients wanted from an advice business. From day one, our number one priority has been our clients. Without our clients, and the trust they place in us to look after an...d advise on their personal finances, we wouldn't have a business. We are always looking at how we can improve the experience for our clients and how we can do things better, and we felt like our CBD location wasn't improving our client experience. So, toward the end of 2018, we decided to move to a location that: - would be more accessible for our clients; - wouldn't require them to brave the CBD to meet with their advisor; - would provide ample customer parking; and - provide a space of our own that we could shape into a welcoming environment for our clients. We feel like our new location achieves these outcomes. We'd spent countless hours working within, and on, the business to improve our value, service and overall experience, but what we hadn't done until this morning was to take moment to appreciate how far we've come. This morning, when looking up at the completed signage, we took a moment to reflect on the last 15 months and we're very proud to say that we're happy with the direction we're heading. #wealthseekers #brisbanefinancialadvisors

19.01.2022 To all the caring and compassionate, fierce and fabulous women of the world, we love you! At wealth seekers we believe a balanced world is a better world #BalanceforBetter, we believe that awareness and action will help forge a more gender-balanced world, we also believe gender balance is not a women's issue, we believe it's a business issue. Unless equality in the work force is achieved, the financial issues that stem from inequality will continue to impact women.... We see financial balance as so much more than being paid like-for-like. The gender pay gap needs to be addressed, however, from a financial planning perspective, income is only one tool for creating wealth. We note a number of non-salaried extras which are also important for building personal wealth, but are still not factored into the gender pay gap statistics. Among others, these include performance pay, superannuation and non-monetary incentives. If these were also included, the gap would be considerably larger. Due to the combination of many and varied factors, women earn substantially less over the course of a lifetime than men. - discrimination and bias in hiring and pay decisions - women and men working in different industries and different jobs, with female dominated industries and jobs attracting lower wages - women have a disproportionate share of unpaid caring and domestic work - lack of workplace flexibility to accommodate caring and other responsibilities, especially in senior roles - women have greater time out of the workforce which adversely impacts career progression and opportunities. The financial consequences of inequality compound, and the results are shocking. Women retire with around half the superannuation of men and two thirds of single retired Australian women over 65 currently live below the poverty line. While things are changing, they are changing ever so slowly . . . and it is Australian women who are paying the price! At Wealth Seekers, we believe in greater gender balance in wealth and we believe a balanced world is a better world. #BalanceforBetter #IWD2019

15.01.2022 Its true that investing can help you grow your wealth. But smart investing has nothing to do with luck. Its about making the right investments and committing to them long-term. When it comes to investing, we believe a few non-negotiables need to be observed #1 - Investing is not optional.... #2 Your investments should always align with your goals. #3 Invest, never speculate. #4 - Diversify your investments. #5 - Invest for the long term. #6 - Pay close attention to investment fees and charges. #7 Automate investing through dollar cost averaging. #8 - Maintain consistency and remove emotion. #9 First have enough in savings to handle the unexpected. #10 The pursuit of investment returns should never jeopardise financial security. #11 Where possible, limit the effects of tax on your investment returns. #12 Dont commit to perfection, just to a process. You can update your plan as needed. Whether you have $5,000 or $5,000,000 to invest, the fundamentals are essentially the same. Just because you have more money doesnt mean your investment plan needs to get complicated. Its common for people to feel the need to make more complex investments as their wealth grows, however staying focused and building on what youve achieved so far is the key to successful long-term wealth building. #investmentplan #investing #wealthseekers #investbetter

15.01.2022 It has been close to 6 months since we wrote this article on advice fees. During this time, the Banking Royal Commission came into full swing and a number of very large financial institutions were exposed for practices we had voiced in this article. We have received a number of comments and private messages from financial advisors, some thanking us for shining a light on these unscrupulous practices and others attacking us and accusing Wealth Seekers of fear mongering while... also hinting at the dangers for the industry of publishing such content. In addition, we have been approached by a number of advice seekers across the country who were either being charged exorbitant ongoing advice fees and questioning why, or had received exorbitant quotes for financial advice, with one couples fees exceeding $30,000 upfront and more than $20,000 ongoing out-and-out extortion in our opinion. The fact that this article has struck a chord with so many industry professionals and advice seekers is a testament to the deep disquiet felt by the public. Weve seen the damage caused by excessive advice costs. We also know the uncertainty surrounding advice costs is a major barrier preventing many people who would benefit from financial advice from seeking advice in the first place. Our intention is to inform advice seekers of what to be aware of before seeking, and committing to, advice. If you can help us inform other advice seekers with your experiences, please let us know in the comments. #financialadvice #financialadvicecosts #ongoingadvicefees #financialplanning #bankingroyalcommission

11.01.2022 When you hear the term financial advisor, what comes to mind? Ever thought about financial planning? Didnt think so. If you're like most people, getting a financial adviser just isnt on your radar yet. But should it be?... As advisors, we're usually associated with retirement, but we're actually all about lifestyle. Surprisingly, financial advice is even more valuable in your 30s and 40s than it is when you reach your 50s and 60s - reason being, you have time on your side and get to set how you want to live now and into the future, and an advisor can help guide you. Good advisers will teach, as well as advise. Rather than being reprimanded, you'll find an advisors job is to empower you to make a lifetime of great financial decisions. At its core, financial advice is about being smart with money - this doesnt mean doing away with the things that bring you joy to your life, rather, cleaning up the financial areas that don't inspire joy (thanks Marie Kondo) - and the earlier you get started, the further youre likely to go. If this strikes a chord and you do decide to talk to an advisor, expect lots of questions. A good advisor will want to get to know you, your goals and your financial situation, especially if you are going to be working together toward your goals. If youre inspired to put a plan in place, theres a lot more to creating a plan than just picking the right investments - but that's covered in the article! #goodfinancialadvice #wealthseekers

01.01.2022 It's less about the things you can buy and more about living your best life. It's having the freedom to quit the job you hate to do something you love, even if means getting paid less. It's the ability to travel and take a vacation without racking up credit card debt to pay for it.... It's making life decisions without being overly stressed about the financial impact because you are prepared. It's being in control your finances instead of being controlled by them. #livelifeonyourterms #wealthseeking #wealthseekers
