18.01.2022 Good morning patrons We at the committee feel you might be wondering what is going on with this years meeting. After consultation with Racing NSW, we are pleased to inform you all that the meeting is still on at this stage.... However, this is dependent on where the virus situation moves to. In consequence, we will delay the release of our advertising by 4 weeks. The race date is Saturday 11th July 2020. Should the situation cause the meeting to be shut down, we will then make a decision as whether to postpone or cancel. In the mean time, we wish you all the best . Fear is of no use to anyone, it just makes the situation worse. So.....Stay safe, stay calm and stay happy. The Wean Committee

14.01.2022 Hello Patrons. We hope you are well and your lives are returning to normal. It is with much regret that we must inform you that the Wean Races will not be happening this year. The committee waited as long as possible to make the decision, but owing to the restrictions on distancing which will still be in place on public transport, and the limit on crowd size in NSW, the committee did not see any way that we could hold the races, short of just having the horses and jockey's ga...llop round the track filmed to the internet. As far as the committee is concerned, that is not what the Wean Picnic Races is about. The Wean Races is all about the patrons. We will be running a fashion competition here on Facebook on Sunday 14th June 2020 for those families still in lock down. We have decided that the theme will be Blue, a colour associated with good health. The rules will go like this: 1. Categories are (A) Best Dressed Male, (B) Best Dressed Female, and (C) Best Dressed Family. 2. The competition will begin at 9:am, and close at 12 pm. during those three hours, people wishing to enter can upload a picture of themselves with the letters A,B or C in the caption indicating which category they are entering to this page as a message with photo attached. 3. Between 2 pm and 5 pm, people are asked to vote on each of the entries by liking them. 4. At 6 pm, the winners are announced, those with the most likes. 5. Winners get $50.00 for each category Good Luck! See you on Sunday, 14th June 2020

12.01.2022 An important notice to all Wean Patrons: Due to a series of events happening within Racing NSW beyond our control or knowledge, nominations were called and accepted to race at Wean in spite of the fact that they had been informed in writing that we had abandoned the meeting. It was then decided (we don't know by who) to carry on with the meeting, but hold it at the Gunnedah Jockey Club under picnic rules, and market the event as the Wean Races.... Just to set the record straight, the Wean Committee would not allow our name or logo to be used in another setting. Wean has it's own unique flavour, something we have worked very hard to build, and we are not interested in diluting it. So there will be no race day at the Wean race course on Saturday. We are worried that all this confusion may cause some patrons to believe the day is on. It isn't. We ask that patrons please share this notice to as many people as you can. We will see you all at around this time next year at the Wimbledon Picnic Races, when hopefully this year of "Going Crazy" will be behind us. The Wean Committee
