22.01.2022 We now have stainless steel SEMICOLON bracelets! When an author could have ended a sentence, but chose to continue they use a semi colon. This idea can be linked to your life. Sometimes when things get hard, and ending the 'sentence' is an option, just take a breath and keep going. 18.01.2022 Today at Target, a lady had a go at me for not saying excuse me when I walked past her. It got me thinking In the past, I would let this bother me. I would usually have apologised for something I may or may not have done wrong and I would have let it eat me up for the rest of the shopping trip. Not today lady! I walked away feeling proud of myself for not letting it get to me, but also a little sorry for the lady who had obviously had a bad enough day to have to complain about something so trivial.

10.01.2022 Driving the kids to daycare, I heard Osher Gunsberg read a letter to his 18 year old self on the radio where he discusses his battles with drugs, alcohol and mental illness. It was an amazing and inspirational letter that got me thinking, what would I write to myself? Well, here it is: Dear 18 year old me. I'm going to keep this short and sweet. ... Firstly and most importantly I want to let you know that you don't need ANYONE to make your life worthwhile. You don't need to do stupid/ unhealthy things (you know what I'm talking about) to have friendships... eventually you will make friends with people who like you for who you are and you will respect yourself enough to know that some people just aren't worth being friends with if they don't. Friends will come in and out of your life and that's okay too. People change, circumstances change and you have no control over this... Go with the flow! You will have many challenges, mental, physical and emotional. Each one will test you to your limit, yet as an adult still struggle to remember how well you have done to get to where you are despite the challenges. You've been able to get through even the toughest of times and learn from the experiences. If I had the opportunity to go back and change anything, I wouldn't because each one of those things has lead you to the person you are now. The things you have done and been through will enable you to relate with and help venerable teenagers. A part of your job as a high school teacher you value most. You can't control a lot of what happens throughout your life, the only thing you can control is how you live it. Enjoy the good times and learn from the bad. Asking for help is not a sign of weakness but can be the bravest and most life changing move you make. Lastly... Don't put up with anyone's shit! Life is short and your happiness is more important.
