25.01.2022 Localise is so proud of our Consultant and UWA PhD candidate, Jen Perry, who is part of this fantastic project http://www.wheatbelt.wa.gov.au/ne/students-blast-wheatbelt/
25.01.2022 Its amazing what communities and local governments can achieve when they have their ducks lined up! Dont underestimate the impact of a common vision, direction, and the ability to work together to make it happen!
24.01.2022 Very smart! New logo for the Shire of Merredin but not just a pretty picture - repositioning to better represent what they stand for and where they are going
24.01.2022 "Conservation, energy and water efficiency and community gardens were the feature of the recent Sustainable House Day event held in Merredin." http://www.rrr.wa.gov.au//Merredin-turns-green-for-the-day
23.01.2022 We were thrilled to be awarded Best Commercial Enterprise at the recent Central Eastern Business Association (CEBA) Business Awards.
21.01.2022 Have a look at this amazing example of community-led development from Invercargill, New Zealand. "South Alive is quite sure that without the strong support from the Council, particularly in the early years, and the critical element of funding the coordinator, South Alive would not have succeeded to anywhere near the extent it has. It is also noteable how this need continues to steadily decline as the group raises more of its own funds and builds its own capacity." http://www.southalive.org.nz/
19.01.2022 Congratulations to Christina Markie, who has now been promoted to consultant. Christina specialises in corporate planning and engagement. #corporateplanning #engagement #localgovernment
19.01.2022 Why should governments report on their national accounts across the 'Six Capitals', rather then just GDP? Clare Feeney finds this is at the heart of what government is for. Local Government already takes a broad view of community wellbeing - but could we be doing better on measurement at the local level too? We have just been doing some work on wellbeing measures at the local level - watch this space. In the meantime, Clare's article is well worth a read. https://pureadvantage.org//07/31/one-number-to-rule-them-/

18.01.2022 Wow! We have survived our first five years! Localise would like to thank all our amazing clients and collaborators. We have some exciting new services to launch in 2017/18 so watch this space!
17.01.2022 Localise is very proud to now be a corporate member of Rotary of Perth!
16.01.2022 Sobering report - we talk about two way communication but create an 'architecture of speaking' not of listening. "Most organisations listen sporadically at best, often poorly, and sometimes not at all. Few walk the talk of two-way communication, dialogue, conversation, engagement, consultation, collaboration, and relationships. Listening, which requires: (1) recognition of others rights and views;... (2) acknowledgement; (3) paying attention; (4) interpreting what is said to gain (5) understanding of others views; (6) giving consideration to what is said; and (7) an appropriate response is so rare that it can be said there is a crisis of listening in contemporary societies. http://www.uts.edu.au//rep/creating-architecture-listening
16.01.2022 Remember your community champions when you need something! Localise recently needed a new multi function copier and looked no further than Abacus Rent It. They supplied iPads with internet for a fundraiser we were involved with, Convicts for a Cause. Great equipment, excellent service and fabulous community champions. Thank you Abacus!

11.01.2022 Proud to say our Localise team of convicts (Alison, Mark, Christina and Justine) raised $2,200 for Cystic Fibrosis, Diabetes Research and Rotary! Thanks to the team and everyone who donated.
10.01.2022 Spreading love and transforming a neighbourhood. This is what can happen when citizens lead and local governments support.

07.01.2022 This is a great post from .id on how libraries are responding to demographic and economic change. It is based on a workshop with 20 libraries in South Australia engaging with what the data was telling them and considering how their services could adapt to meet evolving community needs. https://blog.id.com.au//how-are-libraries-responding-to-d/

06.01.2022 Well done to the Cities of Stirling and Canning for joining the Welcoming Cities Network http://welcomingcities.org.au/
06.01.2022 " local government could make a far greater contribution to the success of the federation as part of a concerted campaign to promote collaboration between governments, business and civil society at local and regional levels. Collaborative governance involving local citizens and all key stakeholders is the only way in which Australia can bring to bear all the skills and resources required to address 21st Century challenges. Essential gains in productivity, innovation and adaptability depend on our capacity and will to mount a whole of government, whole of society effort." http://www.lgprofessionalsaustralia.org.au//lgprof_aus_fed
06.01.2022 Great example of community-led development from Inspiring Communities in NZ. We especially like "Government agencies were concerned about Mataura and were going to meet to decide what to do, but then they realised that the locals were already creating a way forward". http://inspiringcommunities.org.nz/mataura-a-community-tra/
06.01.2022 Once you look past the urban-dominated media and elite discussion in New Zealand, everywhere you look there is investment, innovation, change and progress.
05.01.2022 Interesting report from the Australia and New Zealand School of Government (ANZSOG), "Rhetoric to Reality: Devolving decision-making to Aboriginal communities". It was written for NSW, but should be of interest in other States. Three key findings are: - Cultural competence is most effective when it is localised, ongoing and taught on-Country. Local communities could benefit from being engaged in this teaching.... - Public-sector leaders who are fully committed to cultural competence are most likely to establish collaboration with Aboriginal communities as a routine approach within government. Examples of successful leadership of this kind should be recognised and publicised across the public sector. - Aboriginal public servants should be supported and nurtured, and should be seen as critically important for a culturally competent NSW public service. https://www.anzsog.edu.au//report-change-on-indigenous-ser
05.01.2022 We have just made a donation to this amazing project by three Rotary Clubs and the City of Nedlands to build a huge all abilities play space on the Nedlands river front. Just a couple of mill to go! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fo-YZmELH0o
04.01.2022 If you want to know why we are so passionate about local economic development, have a listen to this news item. It is just over three minutes and well worth the effort. This project has been in the making for well over a decade. Economic development is a long game, not a short game. The visionary and persistent leadership, drive and smarts that have gone into this from the Iwi, local government and other stakeholders is incredible.

03.01.2022 Inspired by an extraordinary community champion, we would love to explore this question with communities: "what can we achieve that money cant buy?"
02.01.2022 Congratulations CRCs, Linkwest and all those who tirelessly campaigned against these cuts. https://www.mediastatements.wa.gov.au//Community-Resource-

01.01.2022 The Shire of Carnarvon Strategic Community Plan was developed with truly representative community input.
