24.01.2022 Today is International Mud Day.....and there's certainly been enough rain to create some muddy puddles. Show us how you've embraced mud so far this Winter!

22.01.2022 We are super excited to have Bindoon Ag Show back on board for Wellies 2020! The volunteers at the Bindoon Ag Society supply and install the stage marquee for the day, plus help with setup and pack up, as well as various activities on the day. Without their support we would be very busy, and VERY tired! The annual Bindoon Ag Show will be held on 17 October this year, so make sure you come back after Wellies and experience the fun of the traditional Ag show, and the very exciting Rodeo as well!

18.01.2022 Wear Ya Wellies has become one of the most successful nature based (and muddy) family events in Perth and aims to provide an opportunity for the entire family to experience unstructured outdoor play, the messier the better! The event has been running since 2013, with an attendance of 7,500 in 2019, numbers that grew by 15% on the 2018 event. What do we need? Cash donations are gratefully accepted as they can then be used to cover the costs of infrastructure etc., however... the following in-kind sponsorship will also be of enormous assistance: - Hay for the Mud Run and Mazes - Fencing around the event site - Free activities for kids - Catering for volunteers - Live entertainment If you would like to be a sponsor of this annual family fun day, contact Alison Reliti, Community Development Officer on 9576 4602 or [email protected] to find out more.

15.01.2022 This weekend should have been #Wellies2020.......it's unfortunate that due to COVID-19 we could not run the event this year, but we will be back next year with lots of messy muddy play..... To keep the mud flowing, we would LOVE to see your favourite pics from the previous 5 years! I know lots of you have been attending since your mudlets were only just walking, and we have loved watching them grow with us! We will start with these from our 2014 event. Courtney and Anthon...y were members of our original Chittering Youth Krew, just a little bit crazy , and integral to bringing Wellies to you in the beginning. We still love you both! Show us what you've got. And...........GO!

Its obvious though, isnt it? Like an innate knowledge that we have somehow forgotten. It makes us happy because we are a part of it. We are in it, not on top or outside of it. We need it to survive. 12.01.2022 With COVID-19 making the delivery of face-to-face professional learning opportunities more challenging, Nature Play WA, with the support of the Education Department of Western Australia, have developed FREE webinars (that will be available to watch as videos after their original screening). The series will provide a pathway for teachers to design and develop outdoor learning and play opportunities for their students, and to educate parents in the importance of outdoor play a...nd learning for their children. The final webinar in the parent series features NaturNature Play WA Griffin Longley, in conversation about how parents can create special memories through taking their children outside and sharing experiences. He encourages parents to advocate for outdoor play and learning at their children’s school. 10.01.2022 If time is the issue in over overscheduled, curriculum packed learning environments then aren't we better off finding ways to make the learning process more eff...icient? Play is literally the answer. 10 to 20 repetitions seems like a huge productivity boost from 400! Play is learning! Scientists have recently determined that it takes approximately 400 repetitions to create a new synapse in the brain - unless it is done with play, in which case, it takes between 10 and 20 repetitions! 02.01.2022 We are so excited to announce that Educated by Nature will once again be supporting Wellies by sponsoring "Educated by Nature's Play Zone"......full of hands-on, tactile play opportunities and loads of messy play. Join them for a game of clay soccer and slippery, muddy fun. Those creative little mudsters can also make, mix and decorate with DIY natural clay and ochre face paints. If you're lucky you may even get to enjoy a little song while you help build a teepee! If you were at the 2019 event, we have it on good authority that the guys from Educated by Nature, love to catch up with old friends, so make sure you stop in to say hi!
