13.01.2022 The Mindful Marketer. I just bought this book. Can’t wait to read it. When it comes to marketing, especially in the health and wellness world, I believe mindfulness is as important as any other area of life.... Don’t get distracted by data, numbers and statistics. Those things have their place, but the mindful marketing approach is all about a calm, deliberate, purposeful action - not rushing, not pushing, not hustling. Stay calm I can get as stressed as the next person when my bank balance is dwindling and not enough people are responding. It always comes back to my ‘why’. If I'm starting to freak out, then it's time I paused. Take a step back, maybe even go for a walk, listen to a meditation, go for an 'oil'. Mindfulness is a state of living in the present moment, without judgment. It works for marketing also. By staying calm, your creative juices will flow much better. Be deliberate Do what you know to do. Marketing isn't rocket science. It’s not about tricks and gimmicks and snappy one liners. Deliberately keep focused on the people you are reaching out to. Deliberately stay focused on the benefits of your business. Stay centred and grounded in the reason you are doing this in the first place. Your message will flow naturally. Be purposeful Don't get your social media scattergun out and bombard Facebook with posts, in the hope of snagging a client or a sale. The scattergun approach can work and can have it's place, but when it's driven by stress and a reactive mind, the likelihood of not hitting anything, and getting even more stressed out, is very possible. Marketing, like anything, is an energy. When you market hastily, under stress, in the heat of the moment, it's not going to be any fun at all, and that’s not the message you want to be sending out. Stay calm, deliberate and purposeful. Your message, your marketing and your business, will flow much better. Have fun marketing your biz.
04.01.2022 Why why why The wise owl always knows 'why', even though he makes the sound of 'who'. For now, forget your social game, numbers of likes, followers or fans, just for a moment.... It's your story that connects. Try not to see people as potential customers. Whilst that may be true, they are firstly humans, like you and I. The best marketers know that building relationships with people, is the name of the game. Connecting with people through your ‘story’ is super important, because this is where your emotional connection is. So, if you don’t know how, you can craft your story by answering these questions. 1. Why this? What is it about this business, that rocks your world. Why have you chosen this business or this product to put your time and energy into? 2. Why you? What is it about this business that makes you the best person for the job. Why YOU?! Why not your neighbour or your friend or someone else. What’s happening in your life that has brought you to this place? What makes this business 'your thing'? 3. Why now? What is it about this business that had inspired you or prompted you to do this now? Why not before, why not later, why now! What are your hopes and dreams for this business and for the people who you work with. Why is ‘this’ business important to ‘you’ right ‘now’? Share that story and have fun marketing your biz.
