24.01.2022 Amore Wood Fired Catering have had to change their business model to meet the challenges of a Covid-19 world and part of that involved a revamp of their website. Websites With Purpose have been with Amore on this journey and continue to support his online marketing.

24.01.2022 I've noticed a disturbing trend of Wordpress "developers" using hosting companies automatic install script to install Wordpress without removing old files from the server. What that means is all of an old websites files are left on the server because of the developers lack of understanding (or laziness). This creates potential for old javascripts to clash with the site and opens the door for hackers to access the site through out of date files.

17.01.2022 Roughly 90 percent of all the hacked content management systems (CMSs) Sucuri.net investigated and helped fix in 2018 were WordPress sites. In a distant second, third, and fourth came Magento (4.6 percent), Joomla (4.3 percent), , and Drupal (3.7 percent).

17.01.2022 Google My Business is still the cheapest option for getting ranked at the top of Google searches. Right now we are offering a lifetime 50% discount on our GMB Optimisation services https://www.gmboptimisation.com/prices

14.01.2022 # # # It all started 15 years ago, on August 17th, 2005 when the former Mambo core team announced that they were leaving Mambo and starting something new... Joomla! The 2005 Letter to the #Community can be found at https://forum.joomla.org/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=72

14.01.2022 And so it begins.

12.01.2022 The monthly Joomla update was released last night. Joomla 3.9.21 is now available. This is a security release for the 3.x series of Joomla which addresses 3 low grade security vulnerabilities and contains over 20 bug fixes and improvements. If you are not subscribed to our Joomla and Wordpress site update service you should update your site now. The most vulnerable time for websites to be hacked is the period between an update being released and when you apply the update because hackers can use the update to reverse engineer any vulnerabilities it fixes.

10.01.2022 Did you know that not updating your Wordpress or Joomla site can cause Google to flag your site as unsafe? In fact both Google and Facebook have been known to shut down ad campaigns because they link to an "unsafe site" for this reason. We can monitor your site and apply security and bug updates as well as plugin updates as they become available so you don't have to worry. https://www.websiteswithpurpose.com.au/maintenance

10.01.2022 With good design a website can be fast loading and still fully featured. Atworkspaces home page features an image slider, video, 11 images and still loads in just 1.138 seconds (Alexa measured). Speed is one of Googles highest ranking factors now which is why we never risk sticking an off the shelf theme or template on a website. They are nearly always bloated and slow. www.atworkspaces.com

07.01.2022 After launching a new website for a client, replacing an old html/Flash site, we are monitoring urls visited to ensure all redirects are in place. In the first 24 hours we have seen over 100 "hits" from hackers bots trying to find the typical Wordpress folders that are often vulnerable to hacks due to badly written plugins. Over 90% of all hacked websites are Wordpress and usually because of badly written plugins. Fortunately the new site is built using the much more secure Joomla platform but a good lesson for anyone who thinks "I'm only a small business, no one would bother to hack me". Hackers bots (automated software) are indiscriminate and are testing your website security every day.

06.01.2022 Times are tough for business right now and a strong online presence is necessary to replace lost foot traffic. We have worked with @Workspaces through Covid-19 keeping their online presence relevant in a rapidly changing environment and ensuring continued new business enquiries.

05.01.2022 Does your business have a Google Reviews Strategy? Do all of your employees know your Google Reviews Strategy and implement it with every customer? Positive Google reviews are money in the bank. They are one of the top factors in getting your business in the "local pack"

04.01.2022 Most web developers don't understand how to use html tags correctly because they approach website development from a graphic design focus and misuse html tags for graphic effects instead of what they are designed for. HTML tags are meant to provide information to "non-visual or restricted visual" site visitors. That includes BOTS such as Google uses to assess your site for ranking purposes but also includes people with disabilities. For example many graphic designers don't... bother to add alt tags to images. When a visually impaired person visits your site using a screen reader, the reader will read out aloud the alt tag describing to the visitor what the image is about. No alt tag means less people understand your site. Currently no CMS (eg. Wordpress. Joomla, Drupal etc) has attempted to be fully accessible under the WCAG standards set by W3C (W3C is the organization that creates web standards) and most developers simply don't care or try to understand them even though they are mandated by laws and regulations in the USA and Europe. This is changing with the new generation Joomla 4 currently in Beta release. Joomla 4 has a built in accessibility feature that gives users the tools to see the website in a way that meets their individual needs. The accessibility plugin gives the user ability to a variety of things including but not limited to Managing text size, Managing Text spacing, Managing Colors, Text to Speed (this is a really good feature that works right within your browser without any 3rd party API) and a few more. Of course the accessibility feature still requires website developers to learn how to create sites that don't break accessibility rules but Joomla 4 takes a great step forward in creating awareness and hopefully website owners will become more aware of the need for using website developers to create sites and not just graphic artists who know how to install Wordress in a cPanel.

03.01.2022 Its the first Wednesday of the month, and that means a new Joomla update. This one 3.9.22 has no security fixes, just a few minor bug fixes but you should be updating immediately anyway. If you need help keeping your Joomla or Wordpress sites up to date Websites With Purpose can do it for you. https://www.websiteswithpurpose.com.au/maintenance
