18.01.2022 Another great #mybusinessstory: "I'm Sarah, business owner and designer at Tilly&Wilbur Expressive Wear. I am self taught and have grown my business from a lapt...op and printer in a 6x12' cubby to now being the top Australian Etsy seller for expressive clothing, working from a purpose built two room studio with commercial equipment, over the space of 3 years. I worked as a radio producer in Brisbane for 10 years prior to a tree-change to a small town where I wanted to raise my children. I moved to a property in regional Queensland, 10km from the nearest town with a population of about 4,000 and few media job opportunities. Not one to be idIe and with the idea from a friend my business was created. The biggest challenge to date is my rural location however that has not stopped the steady growth of my business which currently makes sales from 3 different e-commerce platforms with plans to expand further internationally. "I was once asked "don't you have an actual store in the States?" I politely replied with apologies that I don't. What I didn't go on to explain was that my studio is at my home on a rural property, down a long driveway, off a dirt road, 3 hours from the nearest city in regional Queensland, Australia. Despite all this, Tilly&Wilbur is the highest selling Australian Etsy store for expressive clothing sending custom printed special occasion apparel all over the world. I used to worry that because I couldn't say I was in Brisbane or Sydney I was less worthy, but the proof is in the pudding - unique quality products and amazing customer service is what customers want - not a postcode" #mybusinessstory #mentored #businessowner #sme
