24.01.2022 It was a pleasure to do this story on the Former Speaker of Federal Parliament, Neil Andrew. His ties to Waikerie, the Riverland and South Australia have always remained. As a young Riverland reporter, I regularly interviewed him during the early days of his political career and it was good to catch up with him in retirement.

22.01.2022 These Yorke Peninsula volunteers are an inspiration. They demonstrate how retirees in regional South Australia continue to contribute to their community.

I loved being a part of this program and speaking to individuals and organisations from the Riverland, Barossa Valley and Yorke Peninsula. Please vote for the story you like best. Details are below:

12.01.2022 Morgan is a wonderful spot for tourists. I enjoyed my road trip from Waikerie to cover this story. The locals' commitment to the rebuilding of the PS Canally was a great story to tell.

06.01.2022 I really enjoyed promoting the Riverland, Barossa, River Murray, Lakes and Coorong. Enjoying my taste of lifestyle journalism after nearly three decades of hard news. My change in direction has been fun.

06.01.2022 Does this sound like something you or someone you know would be interested in? Great chance to harness your creative powers and get involved with the Barmera Centenary celebrations!

05.01.2022 There were many new faces, and some inspirational stories shared at the return Riverland dinner for the network this week at the Berri Hotel. Although the focus... was a presentation by Evelyn Pollard of Evelyn Pollard Consulting on the differences between contractors and employees, it was clear many women just needed to share their challenges and experiences. http://ow.ly/mlgk50AZ67A See more

02.01.2022 News stories seem to follow us around, even though I no longer work for the mainstream media! Once again Paul is at centre of the story, all by chance. Thank goodness he was there, he helped put out the fire. We are proud of him, a rather frightening start to Father's Day and Jack's 8th birthday, here at Glenelg, my old boarding school stomping ground.

01.01.2022 I have today tendered my resignation to the Premier as the Minister for Primary Industries and Regional Development. I have taken this action at this time to en...sure the investigation concerning the Country Members’ Accommodation Allowance is no longer a distraction from the good work of the Government. It has been an honour to serve as a minister in the Marshall Liberal Government and to have played a senior role in returning a Liberal Government for the people and communities of South Australia. I thank the Premier for the opportunity he has afforded me to serve in the Cabinet. I apologise sincerely to the people of South Australia for the administrative errors in lodging Country Members’ Accommodation Allowance claim forms, which have led me to make this decision. For the entire period in Government and most years beforehand, the number of allowable nights spent in Adelaide has exceeded the scheme’s cap. In this regard, the people of South Australia should be assured I have not received one cent more under this scheme as a Minister than I am eligible for under the terms of Members of Parliament remuneration. Nonetheless, I offered, was invoiced and have paid reimbursement to the Parliament for inaccurate claims. I will continue to serve as the Member for Chaffey and as a passionate regional South Australian representative. Once the current matters have been resolved, I would be pleased to once again serve the Government in any capacity the Premier feels appropriate. Over the past two and a quarter years much has been achieved in the Primary Industries and Regional Development portfolio, including: lifting the moratorium on genetically modified crops implementation of the ‘zero tolerance’ biosecurity policy securing funding for the $25 million rebuild of the Dog Fence establishing a focus on adoption of AgTech in our primary industries securing investment for 52 mobile phone blackspots delivering $24 million for historic reform of the Marine Scalefish fishery implementing the $150 million Regional Growth Fund providing a $21 million Drought Support Program, and paying out $20 million in bushfire recovery grants to primary producers. Many of our primary industries have been doing it tough over the past two and a quarter years with drought, hailstorms, bushfires and now the coronavirus pandemic disrupting global markets. It has been important to have a Government committed to and focused on regional South Australia to support these industries. In the Chaffey electorate the Government is: upgrading the Sturt Highway from Renmark to Gawler and the Browns Well Highway undertaking a $17 million amalgamation of the Glossop High School established the community-based Matrix rehabilitation program upgraded the Yamba Quarantine Station (which has been an important staging point for border controls) delivering a $4 million MRI machine in the Riverland General Hospital commenced planning for a Riverland Food and Wine Centre, and delivering mobile phone towers to fix black spots in Mount Mary, Murtho, Wunkar, Peebinga and Paruna. All this was achieved as a member of the Marshall Cabinet. I have been fortunate enough to be surrounded by a dedicated and loyal team of staff who have supported me and the Government over the past two years, both in Adelaide and Chaffey, and I thank them for their service.
