25.01.2022 IMPROVEMENT WORKS Its been a little while since some of our community could visit us onsite, so here is a little look at some of the recent works at our beautiful college which have made it even more safe, welcoming and functional for all of our students. Thank you to Mr Dean Lockhart and Allan Van Noordennan! 1. AUTOMATIC DOORS INSTALLED These new doors in the Breezeway now allow any person with a disability to navigate their way around the school independently w...ithout needing another person to open a heavy door for them. It also creates an ease of flow and sense of connectedness between the two sides of our school. Thanks to the Federal Government Local Schools Fund for the $20K to do this work. 2. CONCRETE PATHS A new path was concreted from the Chapel St entrance to the BER. Aside from looking great, this protects the KLC stadium floor from the damage of gravel and dirt being walked in and also creates natural downball courts for increased activity options for our students in break times. The main courtyard was also concreted, opening up this space. 3. NEW FLAGPOLES To show respect for our country and its peoples. 4. NEW FACADE ON BLOCK A Funded by the Victorian School Building Authority, this work followed some asbestos removal and the old block work was replaced with Hardiplank and textured paint to harmonize with the refurbishment buildings. Looks great! 5. WINDOW TINTING Ongoing works to limit sun glare in some classrooms.

23.01.2022 YEAR 9 SKI CAMP: DAY 3 After a challenging first day of cross country skiing, the students persisted and saw rapid improvement in their skiing, snow plough and turning ability. We journeyed along the aqueduct trail, where we stopped for bite to eat with some beautiful natural views. From there we travelled to the village bowl and beyond. We ate our lunch whilst overlooking magnificent views and had a snowball exchange.

21.01.2022 YEAR 9 SNOW CAMP: DAY 4 Today, we had choices for how we would like to spend our day. Half the group chose a cross country ski to Mount McKay hoping to spot the rare Pygmy possum; whilst the other half opted to snow shoe up to cloud 9 and to complete the high ropes course. Both groups ate their lunch overlooking fabulous views.
21.01.2022 Over the past couple of weeks students have had the opportunity to try different materials for modelling whilst learning from home. Salt Ceramic and Bakers Clay are great alternatives to using clay. Using Salt Ceramic students created a character or scene from their favourite book, or a self-portrait figure. From Bakers Clay the 5/6s were to create a mask and other classes had a free choice. Great to see the effort and enthusiasm students are showing for the tasks.
21.01.2022 Congratulations to Tyson for being nominated for this award! Wonderful recognition for your act of service to the community during a difficult time. Good luck mate! https://aus01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/
20.01.2022 Students have finally finished glazing their clay artworks from early last term and this term. Glazing is fun and a bit of a surprise because the colours don't always turn out the way we think after firing. F/1 made faces and painted them using fluorescent and metallic paints. 2/3 made fantasy creatures. 3/4 created sea creatures and coil pots. ... 5/6 learnt about the slab technique and used a cylinder for the base of their designs. They have certainly brightened up the entrance in the new display cabinets. See more

18.01.2022 The NOT-YET DEB BALL We remember that many of our Year 11 students would have been making their Debut tonight if the year had gone as planned. Alas, they are not so we wanted to keep their hopes alive and let them know they are in our thoughts! The Deb Ball is a significant event in our community that brings so many of us together and we experience connection and belonging as we observe our young people shine and encourage them on their journey to adulthood. We hope to be able to reschedule a new date soon. #prideoferin #prideofwedderburn #postponed #notcancelled #staystrong #stayhopefilled

17.01.2022 YEAR 9 MT BOGONG SKI CAMP After an early departure from Wedderburn, we set off to Mount Bogong. During the long bus ride, our Year 9 group were eager to arrive to at our destination, with many discussions about previous experiences with snow and others excited to see the snow for the first time. As we neared our Mount Bogong, we saw numerous sights and got to see our first glimpse of snow. Upon arrival, we were greeted by our lovely instructors, Russell and Katrina who acknow...ledged the aboriginal land (Jaitmatang Country) we are currently on; before taking us on a tour of the grounds and were given our snow gear in preparation for Cross Country Skiing tomorrow. We attended the Ian Ryan Animal Education Centre to meet and touch a blue tongue lizard, Childrens python, two central bearded dragons; including watching them eat grasshoppers and three sugar gliders. Ella, Eliza, Anna and Pippi were brave and held the childrens python. The sugar gliders were a favourite amongst our students. Later, we set goals centring around resilience for our time on camp and sang happy birthday to Eliza at dinner. See more

07.01.2022 MESSAGE FROM SENIOR SCHOOL CAPTAINS & YEAR 12 SRC REPRESENTATIVES - RECONCILIATION WEEK We would like to respectfully acknowledge the Traditional Custodians, of this land on which our school resides. We also would like to pay our respects to the Elders both past and present. This week is National Reconciliation Week (27 May to 3 June). This is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribut...e to achieving reconciliation in Australia. Reconciliation is about strengthening relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous peoples, for the benefit of all Australians. The dates for NRW remain the same each year. These dates commemorate two significant milestones in the reconciliation journey the successful 1967 referendum on the 27th of May 1967 and the High Court Mabo decision on the 3rd of June 1992. The theme this year is In this together this is very important when considering reconciliation as well as the current crisis, we are all in this together, as individuals, families, communities, organisations and importantly as a nation. We all have a role to play when it comes to reconciliation and in playing our part.
