25.01.2022 ' ... Is it important? Well it depends, every couple is different . ... But I tend to think that music has a big impact on the ceremony, so much so, that when I redesigned my planning booklet music it is now one of the first things mentioned it can get ignored so easily and at last minute you are pulling songs out of the air, so putting it front and centre means people are thinking about it from the first day they are planning their ceremony! Aaron and Catherine nailed it a perfect mix - a little traditional and then all about them. I love all their songs because they were full of their personality but their recessional song hit all the notes apparently Aaron picked that one himself! Thumbs up for that one! So here is their wedding playlist Prior to Bride’s arrival: Dear Future Husband - Meghan Trainor Bridesmaids and Bride entered to: Pachelbel’s Canon in D Signing: All You Need is Love -The Beetles Fat Bottomed Girls - Queen Recessional: Hold My Girl - George Ezra , I know every song we picked was important during our ceremony- do you remember your songs or do you have your music planned? I’d love to know what others have picked?

25.01.2022 This highlight video was created by one of Colin and Jamila’s friend- Grace.... It’s amazing - I love it! Thanks for sharing Jamila Sceney-Dunn! It showcases the ceremony location and the transformation of their backyard into a wedding reception venue beautifully! Most importantly it shows the love shared between Colin and Jamila and how much fun they had on their wedding day surrounded by their family and friends at their home in Noonamah! It was an honour to be part of their special day and get this two married at home! Rural weddings rock!!

23.01.2022 (Better late than never) ... Jamie and Sarah- I hope you celebrated your first anniversary well and wishing you love and happiness for the years to come! Jamie and Sarah’s wedding is always going to be memorable for many reasons. Their whole approach was low key but still their personalities shone through everything. The ceremony was short and sweet, at their request, but we still managed to incorporate lots of them into it and had plenty of laughs on the day. Territory Nights worked their magic on Jamie and Sarah’s rural block turning it into an amazing wedding venue where the couple celebrated their marriage well into the night... and maybe even well into the early morning! It was hard to go past this photo by Inspire Photography Darwin to share for Jamie and Sarah’s anniversary; it captures the essence of the day and the couple, the colours, them surrounded by the natural bush and of course the loving smiles shared by the newlyweds! Rural weddings rock!

23.01.2022 : : ... I said there would be a post about Martin and Kayla’s ceremony coming up soon as it deserved a post all of its own and this photo sums it up perfectly! Kayla wasn’t keen on being front and centre of a wedding ceremony so when we talked through the options, and at this stage it was all still one ceremony (not legals separate), from the information they gave me I wanted to give them a ceremony she would love to be part of and something she could look forward to sharing with their guests. So for these self-declared nerds I wrote a draft ceremony based on their interests. Kayla loves Star Wars, Harry Potter, Marvel and Disney and Martin is a Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones fan. The result was a meaningful and fun ceremony that reflected them, with many quotes delicately entwined throughout it to create a flowing wedding ceremony... There’s no denying this wasn’t my area of expertise but I gave it a shot and the first time I emailed it through to Kayla I was anxious if this was something she’d be interested in... I did also add the disclaimer this ceremony wouldn’t be for everyone but it’s not meant to be, it’s for Kayla and Martin! Her reply was perfect!! I love it and I have some more quotes I want to add... This ceremony evolved into one I was thrilled to stand up and present and when I was sharing it with their guests, I could see Kayla and Martin mouthing the words to the quotes, that was all the reassurance I needed to know we’d succeeded in creating a unique wedding day both Kayla and Martin were excited about! 20.01.2022 . ’ ! . . ... , . . ; , , ; . , , . . , . : : It’s hard to find the right words to respond to such a beautiful review but I’m am just so pleased we navigated through the difficulties and found the perfect solution so that both Kayla and Martin had the wedding day they both wanted!Their themed ceremony, took me well out of my areas of expertise into a Galaxy Far, Far Away, and from the first time I sent Kayla the draft of quotes carefully entwined into a wedding ceremony, I knew it wasn’t a ceremony for everyone but it wasn’t meant to be, as it was a ceremony written Especially For Them. And from the moment they read it they loved it and added even more quotes! It was so much fun to deliver and even more so, knowing how relaxed they both were as the legalities were out of the way! Thank you Kayla and Martin for choosing me as your celebrant, I had an absolute blast getting to know you both and helping you get married just the way you wanted! Both ceremonies were such a blast and so much fun to be involved with! May the force be with you as you travel through the galaxy of life. Wishing you both a lifetime of love and happiness and a world full of stars! Cheers Taryn Hicks Sharon Mac Photographics Wedding featured on Territory Weddings

18.01.2022 Today is R U OK? Day. There’s no doubt 2020 has been a crazy year... Here’s some helpful things to say to check in on someone if you are worried about them.... Reaching out and asking someone R U OK? could be just the prompt they need.

17.01.2022 A few weeks ago, I saw Georgia Politis - Darwin Christening, Wedding & Portrait Photographer put a call out for models for her upcoming Christmas Portrait shoots... I must admit we've never ever done a professional Christmas photo before but when I saw her post, I messaged her and said sign Kade and Brock up! We decided as it has been a pretty full on year all round, thanks to Coronavirus, the reality is we probably won't see any of our immediate families at all this year, s...o it would be a good year to invest in some professional photos to share. These photos will not only be fantastic Christmas presents (sorry for spoiling the surprise Grandparents, Aunties, Uncles and family!) but they are capturing our boys in 2020, in what has been one crazy year...and you know what, they have no idea what's been happening around them! This sneak peek Georgia has shared of Kade is pretty damn cute, so we're looking forward to seeing Brock and the photos of them together. Thanks to Georgia's post a few weeks ago, we've now got lots of Christmas sorted! It was just the prompt we needed to kick us into gear! Georgia's Christmas Portraits have been booking out quickly, especially this scene, so if you'd like more information about them or to get your children in for a Christmas shoot, definitely check her Facebook page now!

17.01.2022 ! ! . ! ' ! ! ... Thanks for the kind words Jess and Glenn! It was an absolute pleasure to get you married on your chosen date and I loved every minute of it! Your ceremony was so laidback and so much fun! Thanks for choosing me to be your Celebrant! Sharon Mac Photographics

16.01.2022 ... This post is predominantly directed at my 2021 couples, to reach out about what we are going to be doing soon but it does also include a bit of general information about the Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM) as I’ve had lots of new enquiries recently about weddings in the near future. Hopefully this post will help new couples understand how much notice legally needs to given prior to marrying. The NOIM is the first legal step in getting ...married- it’s your declaration that you intend to wed. You complete your details and you sign that it’s true and correct, in front of a celebrant (or another authorised witness). . There are specific circumstances in which a shortening of time can be applied for but that’s a whole other post on its own, if you want more info about that just get in touch. TO MY 2021 COUPLES - To the majority of my postponed couples, you are good to go, your original NOIM is valid! One scrapes in by a few days but with one or two the current document will expire and we will need to do a new one (that’s never happened to me before... another Coronavirus hiccup!) To the postponed couples who need a new NOIM and new couples - I will be sending out an email over the next week explaining how you can fill out the form electronically. Once that’s done, we arrange to meet up and sign it. If you don’t live locally, then you can sign it front of another authorised witness and send it through. Legal Process started, we are on the way to getting you wed! All very easy and I’m here to walk you through every step of the way. I just wanted to reassure my 2021 couples that the wheels are in motion and we’ll be starting the process soon! Reach out if you have any questions and I’m looking forward to catching up with my 2021 couples again soon! Cheers Taryn Hicks

16.01.2022 ... At our first planning meeting, I discussed with Colin and Jamila a range of different vows and options and I shared the most important piece of advice I give all couples DO NOT leave them until the last minute! Colin and Jamila decide to write their own personal vows separately and keep them secret until the day.... Colin ignored my advice and wrote his vows the morning of the wedding did it matter- NOT at all, he nailed it! Jamila read her vows first- short, sweet and beautiful Colin’s first words in response were: ’ and he then admitted that he wrote his that morning with the assistant of his best man and Google. I’m not going to share all his words but I absolutely loved the honesty and commitment in his final lines: ’ , , , 100%, . And how do I know he nailed it when Jamila emailed after the wedding she wrote: ’ ’ . What a way to kickstart a marriage falling in love all over again during the ceremony! Beautiful! 16.01.2022 Yesterday Territory Weddings did a poll on their Instagram page- What do you want to see more of on Territory Weddings? Real NT Weddings or Inspiration Weddings... ... The results speak for themselves 97% of respondents want to see Real NT Weddings! Recently I’ve had a chance to email some of my previous couples encouraging them to share the details of their day... and the results of this poll support what I said in the email. My reason for encouraging others to share their details comes from my own love of reading about local weddings and love stories (BUT I will be upfront and honest and say that I have paid to be included as a vendor on Territory Weddings and to be honest it’s the first time I’ve ever paid to advertise anywhere... and that’s because I love the local aspect of this directory and the NT focus!) Long before I was a Celebrant, living in regional Vic, I used to love a local bridal mag that solely focused on local couples and advertising local vendors. I loved flicking through it and seeing real couples in my local area using local vendors. It was so much more interesting and resourceful than any national, glitzy bridal mag as it was relevant and I knew some of the people who wed and knew of the places and vendors they used. So that’s what I hope Territory Weddings does become, a website that couples who are getting married can go to and browse and look through other local weddings for inspiration! All weddings are so different, that every couple’s wedding has something new and exciting to share that others may not have thought of and with Territory Weddings these details can be shared with a targeted local audience. So if you have married in the NT (and it doesn’t have to be this year, I know Territory Weddings aren’t limiting it to 2020 couples) then head over to this link and submit your details. I got the questionnaire emailed to me and filled it out just for fun (so I knew what was in it), it’s not arduous or hard, just good fun to reflect on your wedding day! https://view.flodesk.com/pages/5f3c7067b6c3e70026c15d8c The more couples who submit their weddings, the more informative the whole resource will become. I look forward to reading about some of your weddings on Territory Weddings soon! Cheers Taryn

15.01.2022 EE E TEY O? ... Since marrying two years ago, Skye and Alex have bought a home and added a new addition to their family, Katie, born in March this year! It looks like Patrick has taken to his new role of big brother with ease, with that great big smile on his face! Thank you for sharing the gorgeous family photo, taken by Nakita Pollock Photography - Darwin Photographer. (Nakita also had the pleasure of being their wedding photographer.)

15.01.2022 , Catherine and Aaron were my first pre-COVID couple to marry on their original date, in their original location!... It was a roller coaster ride to get to their date and hot spot declarations and cancelations kept it interesting right up to the end, but the wedding went ahead!! Catherine and Aaron’s ceremony had all the feels... laughter, tears and of course a whole lot of love! I had an absolute ball getting to know these two and as they live just the other side of Humpty Doo, I’m looking forward to catching with them for a drink and a wedding debrief! It will be a well earnt drink for them, they deserve it after the ups and downs they went through to get wed! Catherine said to me early in the year Planning a wedding is bloody stressful enough without throwing a worldwide pandemic into the mix. And she wasn’t wrong! But look at the smiles on their faces - it was all worth it!! Congratulations Mr & Mrs Cielens!! Georgia Politis - Darwin Christening, Wedding & Portrait Photographer Wedding Day Flair

14.01.2022 On Saturday I had the absolute pleasure of meeting Joe & Eiryne in person. Even though they live in Howard Springs and I live in Humpty Doo, we hadn’t yet met, as they were happy to lock me in for their wedding date after one video call! But since that call, we’ve kept in regular contact and on Saturday we met to start the process for their 2021 wedding, the first new 2021 dry season couple I’ve met with to sign the NOIM! The meeting was an absolute blast, I loved chatting to... them and getting to know them. Even though the purpose of the meeting was to sign documents, we talked about ceremony planning and I already know from the conversations we had that their ceremony is going to be great fun from the stories they shared, such as; how and where they met, when Joe left Eiryne speechless, how he managed to get her number even though she wasn’t the one to share it and their first date! I’m already looking forward to their wedding ceremony next year to share their ceremony with their guests. But also because it will be my first at Rydges Palmerston and my first working along Psealms Production. I’ve followed them for awhile and can’t wait to see them work their magic on Joe & Eiryne’s wedding day. Joe & Eiryne love their fur babies but unfortunately the dogs won’t be welcome at their wedding venue so they snuck them into the couple shoot they had with Psealms Production recently and the results were awesome! This was just one of many fantastic shots, it was so hard to pick just one!

13.01.2022 , , , . ’ . ... . . How many themed references from the ring exchange in Kayla and Martin’s themed wedding ceremony did you find? To give you a hint- remember Kayla loves Star Wars, Harry Potter, Marvel and Disney and Martin is a Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones fan. : : Sharon Mac Photographics Wedding featured on Territory Weddings

12.01.2022 The smiles didn’t leave Aaron and Catherine’s face all day or night by the look of these photos!! Look how much fun they are having as they do their first dance together as husband and wife!!! Sounds like Wedding Dance Darwin gave them all the confidence they needed to get onto the dance floor and have fun while doing it!! ... See more

10.01.2022 ’ I first received a call from Hannah about 3 weeks prior to their wedding... the borders were reopening (on the 17th July) and they had made the decision to go ahead and get married! ... The catch- unfortunately their original Celebrant and friend was unable to be there, due to continuing travel restrictions in his own state, but thankfully I was available (due to another couple postponing, thanks Coronavirus!) but from that very first phone call, I wanted to do my absolute best to give Hannah and Matt the amazing wedding ceremony they deserved! And I promised their Celebrant friend, Iain, I would look after them! In the short time I got to know Matt and Hannah, I loved working with them... they were so pragmatic about everything; the story and details they shared gave me awesome content to write their ceremony... it reflected them, their journey, their relationship and resonated with their guests. It’s always a huge compliment when guests take the time, after the ceremony, to tell you you it was beautiful and I always give full credit to the couple, as I’m driven by them!! So while Coronavirus threw curveballs at this couple both personally and professionally, they did it, they got married! Hannah was the driving force and wanted it to come together and Matt supported her all the way with his patience and good humour and on a 4 week timeline in the midst of a pandemic, they pulled it off and became husband and wife! They had a stellar team lined up who worked through the multiple stages of their planning: Beach St. Photography Creative Two Beija Flor Darwin Bridey Rose All About Party Hire Darwin And I was the sub, pulled in at the last minute, to make it legal when their original Celebrant couldn’t make it! It’s always an amazing journey with any couple, whether it’s an epic marathon from start to finish or a sprint to the end, it’s an honour to work with a couple and create a ceremony especially for them.

10.01.2022 And now a sneak peek of both boys ... Kade and Brock! Thank you Georgia Politis - Darwin Christening, Wedding & Portrait Photographer We love the photos we’ve seen so far! Thank you so much for your patience and capturing gorgeous shots of our Humpty Doo boys! ... We’ve got lots of Christmas presents sorted out already!

10.01.2022 I think Kade summed it up best not long ago We picked a good Dad. Thanks for being an amazing Dad to our two little Humpty Doo boys and we look forward to spoiling you when you are home with us. ... Photo from December 2019, FNQ, and is the screensaver on my phone.

10.01.2022 Definitely no professional photos here (especially the family selfie!)- just a select few random snaps of our trip last week! Hard to pick just a few but hope I've highlighted what a great week we had! On the 22nd August I had the absolute pleasure of marrying a beautiful couple, to then wake early and depart on the 23rd August for a week long camping trip at Garig Gunak Barlu NP! Not the longest road trip we've done but definitely some of the roughest roads we've seen in awh...ile and a few on the road repairs were required! Thankfully Dave always travels well prepared and managed to get us back on the road without too many delays! Once we got there- while the windy weather kept the temperature down a bit, it made getting the boat in and out challenging but we did get 3 good days of awesome fishing in, with everyone managing to catch a few fish! We caught at least 13 different types of fish- the highlights being mangrove jacks and barra. Another highlight was the abundance of fresh squid, we ate that most nights! Squid is one of my absolute favourite dining out meals but to eat it fresh, after we caught it, beats any restaurant experience! It was delicious! If we weren't out in the boat we were busy exploring the NP or even just around the campsite and the kids loved it! We returned Sunday 30th August and I've been busy trying to unpack and keep organised with upcoming weddings but I'm pretty sure I'm been in touch with anyone who contacted me during that time! 07.01.2022 : : ... The first time I met Kayla and Martin, we started the legal paperwork with no real definite plans of when they would be wed, it was an evolving process and they were going to have some big discussions about what they wanted to do. The 11th is an important date to this couple, so the date was locked in ... 11/9/2020! Kayla and Martin’s wedding is the perfect example of throwing out the rule book when it comes to planning your big day! This couple went on a roller coaster of a ride and in the end, they both got what they wanted!! Kayla wanted a small, very relaxed legal ceremony where they become husband and wife in front of their two witnesses. We ticked all the legal boxes at 9.30am lounging on a bench at Darwin Waterfront. (That may even be my two little boys wading fully clothed in the lagoon in the background . They were invited along at the couple’s request and Kayla loves that they provided the family friendly entertainment and helped keep the morning low key and fun.) Straight after the ceremony, the paperwork was lodged at BD&Ms. Martin and Kayla were then free to enjoy the day with their bridal party, getting pampered and ready for the celebrations later in the day, content in the knowledge they were already husband and wife! The next ceremony was celebrated at Darwin Sailing Club surrounded by 55 of their closest family and friends. It was a one of a kind ceremony, written to reflect their personalities and an opportunity for them to celebrate their union, with no prescribed text or legal elements, it was just all about them! (This ceremony was so different it will get a post of its own in the near future.) While there are essential legal elements to any wedding, Kayla and Martin’s wedding highlights that you need to plan and celebrate the day in which you are most comfortable and one that reflects you both as a couple... and as your Celebrant I’ll be there the whole way to support and help guide you, making sure you get a ceremony written Especially For You. 06.01.2022 (My apologies to Jess & Brad-another better late than never post!)... From the moment I met Jess and Brad, I loved their company! When it came to scheduling a meeting to sign legal documents, not only did they welcome my little boys into their home, Brad even cooked them pancakes! And this was a sign of what was to come, several meetings then took place at Jess’ sister’s house (where the reception was being held) surrounded by family. Before the wedding even took place, I felt welcomed into their family fold! When it came to the actual ceremony, it was beautiful! Jess and Brad gave me the most amazing content to work with but not only that, they chose to personalise the ceremony in so many other ways as well! The show stopper was their personal vows. Brad even had vows he wished to share with Jess’ daughter. Pretty sure there wasn’t a dry eye in the house during the vows, was there Image Solutions NT? Picking one photo from their day for their anniversary was tough... but l love this one, check out the smiles on their faces.

04.01.2022 Jess arrived in the NT for a 3 month work stint, then met Brian and never left and now calls Humpty Doo home after they bought their first home out here. A year ago today, they married at Mary River Wilderness Retreat, a place that holds so memories for Brian from when he was a boy, camping out there before the Wilderness Retreat was even there and more recently shared memories, teaching ...Jess to fish on the Mary River and even proposing to her there so it was no surprise that was where they wanted to be married surrounded by their closest family and friends! Jess and Brian ensured they picked a photographer up for a challenge, as soon as they wed, the bridal party jumped into boats and headed off up the river to get some shots at their favourite fishing spots and @gp.photont didn’t hesitate, she jumped in with them and captured some gorgeous bridal portraits for them! I recently ran into Jess and she explained how they were planning on celebrating their anniversary, it sounded pretty damn special so I hope they’ve had a great weekend and I’ve got no doubt the next 12 months are going to be pretty amazing for these guys! Wishing them love and happiness always!

04.01.2022 What a random photo for a celebrant to be posting ... the preparations of the groom and the best man but for this couple it is so perfect - as Brad, the best man, wore more hats than one... he could be a wanna be Celebrant incognito! Prior to officially setting their new wedding date, due to Coronavirus and travel restrictions, Nina and Steve managed to pull together a wedding celebration while in Brisbane whilst they had the chance, in 8 hours - AMAZING! So while many of th...Continue reading

03.01.2022 Today was bittersweet The highlight was meeting I Do With Agi - Darwin Marriage Celebrant in person. I love catching up with any celebrant to chat all things weddings and Agi and I got on amazingly well, sharing all our stories, tips and hints that’s one thing in this industry we’re always learning and evolving and we’re lucky in the NT that we are surrounded by amazing professionals and we all get along so well!... The downside was the purpose of our meeting; I was transferring a NOIM (Notice of Intended Marriage) to Agi one of my beautiful 2020 couples, who postponed due to Coronavirus, have unfortunately swapped to a 2021 date when I’m unavailable. While I’m devastated I won’t be there to marry them on their new date, I want nothing more than the best for this couple and I know they are in very safe hands and Agi will look after them! So there’s no better outcome and I can’t wait to see them happily married in 2021!!! Coronavirus has made transferring a NOIM a regular occurrence! Agi and I may need to drag her along everywhere with me to take selfies!! She’s awesome!

03.01.2022 Every ceremony is exciting for many reasons... but today was a new highlight! I married a pre-COVID couple on their original date and in their original choice of location!! Amazing!! ... They married at Dudley Point at East Point Reserve, the Arafura Sea providing the perfect backdrop and @weddingdayflair the perfect ceremony setup! Unfortunately there is no doubt their guest list was a little smaller than originally planned but today these two became husband and wife in a beautiful ceremony, which is no doubt being followed by a great celebration at Darwin Trailer Boat Club I can’t wait to see the photos Georgia Politis - Darwin Christening, Wedding & Portrait Photographer shares. I did want to start this post with a disclaimer - I must admit we are feeling pretty grateful living in the NT, where life is pretty much going on as normal (with social distancing in place) and while I’m feeling for other states with restrictions in place; I realised this couple still need to be priority, starting with a disclaimer wouldn’t be fair on them, they’ve already ridden a roller coaster ride but they got here and they deserve to enjoy their day!

03.01.2022 This post is me just taking the time to pause and reset for a minute on my social media and reflect on weddings after Coronavirus slowed things down for awhile. Life has been a bit crazy of late, all for good reasons camping, weddings and juggling things is always a bit harder when my husband is away at work, so thank you to all the amazing family and friends who help me out! But when I get busy I don’t have the time to post about the beautiful weddings I’ve been part of, so... my apologies to those couples who I haven’t posted about yet! I didn’t think it was fair to rush back in with a couple post just to get started again, so instead I decided to do a reflection post... Reflecting on 2020, it’s been stressful, working through Coronavirus chaos with couples, riding it out, rescheduling and heartbreaking as some people still don’t know what they’ll do next, so I’ve been on that roller coaster with all those couples, hopefully reassuring them whatever happens, I’ve got they’ve back. But 2020 has been beautiful as well... when weddings kicked off again for me in late July, I’ve loved being part of every single one of them! They have all been impacted by Coronavirus in one way or another and only one couple were actually a pre-Coronavirus booking, the rest were all new bookings wanting to go ahead in whatever capacity they could. These weddings have all been so different in every way; size, venues, themes and of course ceremony content! One day I was at a huge rural wedding on a Noonamah block and the next at a small, intimate Pee Wee’s ceremony. Being part of this amazing variety of weddings reconfirmed what I already knew I loved about being a Celebrant! I love being instrumental in helping couples figure out what is important to them, what they want in their ceremony and then creating a ceremony Especially For Them. The ceremony is not only, the start of their wedding day celebrations, but the actual start of their marriage and this means different things to different people. When we’ve gone through the process to create a personalised ceremony, I get excited by it and then feel very honoured that I’m the lucky person who gets to stand beside them on their wedding day and share the ceremony with their family and friends! So while 2020 has been crazy, I’ve loved being part of weddings I’ve done since I restarted as these have all had different focuses and different priorities because of the year we’ve had. They have all been beautiful in different ways and the end result is always the same a happily, legally married couple after a ceremony designed to suit them! Now I feel like I’ve cleaned the slate, I can start to share about the beautiful couples I have married... Cheers Taryn Hicks

01.01.2022 I won’t lie, I always love to watch North Australia Media’s videos when they appear but I was hanging out for yesterday’s video as I was lucky enough to be Nina and Steve’s Celebrant and of course the sneak peak was amazing! Great work Justin and Stevie! What a gorgeous video of such a lovely couple!
