Go with something that feels intimate, with a lot of greenery and lush foliage. Bonus points for fragrant flowers!... Secondly, a lot of people assume you need to go all-out with pink and white... but you can try keeping your colour palette soft and light. 23.01.2022 Today, I couldnt stop smiling, when I watched all these cars stop to let a family of ducks cross the road near my house. It was so beautiful, and TBH I usually assume a lot of people wouldnt give a sh*t, but seeing this made me realise that people are genuinely good at heart and kind Whats one thing youve done (or seen someone do) that warmed your heart?... I always think of #kindness like smiling or yawning - its totally contagious!! So even one little act of kindness, whether or not you get the recognition for it, will add a little spark of joy to the huge bowl of humanity. Almost every wedding planner or wedding coordinator in Perth will be investing extra time and effort, outside of the wedding day itself. 21.01.2022 In my opinion, I think it's really important NOT to overspend on your wedding You should always remember that it's just one day in your lives together, and there's gonna be so many more days to celebrate, so don't put yourselves into debt, or take away from your own future plans, just for the wedding. YES, it's one of the most exciting days of your lives... YES, it's something you've probably dreamed about for aaages YES, weddings can be expensive ...BUT when you prioritise the most important things, follow a set budget, and plan in a strategic and smart way, you can totally avoid overspending!! I'm not telling you what your budget should be. Only YOU guys can say that... but I encourage all my couples to be realistic in their expectations, and plan in the right way, to avoid any scary price tags later That's why I give my custom-made budget tracking spreadsheet to all my couples. 21.01.2022 The best way to avoid being a bridezilla is to be happy with things not going exactly as you pictured on your day . It doesn't mean it's not perfect. It'll still be 100% amazing .... ...AND, by getting comfortable with things going "wrong", you'll actually stress less, 'cause you can give up trying to make everything perfect. . For example; If you've got a wet-weather Plan B, spend some time living in that vision (inside your head). Don't put all your hopes and positive visualisations into the dream ceremony set-up, 'cause shit happens and that might not be how it eventuates on the day! I've heard all the stories, from crazy winds blowing flowers clean off the arbour, to helicopters getting water from the neighbour's dam for a bushfire. . . So, if you can picture your backup plan being as beautiful and happy as Plan A, then if Plan B DOES need to happen, you'll be way less stressed ... 20.01.2022 The other day, someone said "Being photographed feels like having a gun pointed at you" ...and I totally get that! If you're not used to being in front of the camera, it kinda makes you freeze, and you can't look anywhere else.... Well MY happy place is being BEHIND the camera, and directing other gorgeous women into figure-flattering natural poses that allow their true beauty to shine. ...PLUS I've been posing women for a decade, and I know the little tricks and techniques, so that helps too Nothing's ever going to look 'perfect' (and I don't think there is such a thing, TBH), but being happy with that is the FIRST step to silencing that inner voice that says 'you're not good enough'. (I'm on a mission to help women feel gorgeous and confident, so posing guidance is the newest thing on my secret menu for my brides! 20.01.2022 I'm gonna get raw and vulnerable for a moment. Mental health. It's a very non-committal phrase. It's easy to say, because it doesn't really get specific about symptoms, it doesn't use a label (like depression or anxiety or PTSD), and it doesn’t really describe the effects of mental illness on a person's experience of life.... Mental health is one of the most prominent topics in my daily life. I only mention 3 of them, because they're the ones I can speak about with any life experience and authority; Depression. Anxiety. PTSD. I live with (and manage) all 3 of those. For anyone else who's been affected by mental illness, through a friend, family member, or your own personal journey, you know how much stigma is attached to the phrases. I've been hesitant to say this publicly, because I was scared of the backlash. People judging me, or looking at me differently after they learn the truth. But I'm kinda over hiding it, and weirdly I think that my own mental health journey has made me into a way more resilient, strong and self-aware person. I'm also SOOO sick of the negative stigma around words like 'depression', and it needs to change. I believe that other people like me would feel more emotionally equipped to handle and manage their inner daily challenges if we could all talk more openly and compassionately about our experiences, and how it shapes our internal world I'd love to have a discussion with anyone who wants to reach out. I'm not an expert by any means, but I really want you to know that I'm here as a resource, to support you and be your cheerleader. Let's share the love, kindness and compassion. As soon as we start down the rabbit hole of searching for "relaxed fun wedding ideas", we get the idea that this means customised personal cocktails, midnight snacks of hot chips and gravy, changing into a 2nd (more relaxed) dress for the reception,... having a live band play R&B jams, and 1000 colourful lanterns hanging from the trees. Dayyym, that might be #funweddingideas but paying for it all sure isn't relaxing So how do we manage our expectations vs reality, when all these online wedding galleries are telling us we're not thinking big enough!? 18.01.2022 Why should I pay more for the exact same service, just because I say the word 'wedding'? My thoughts: ... FIRSTLY, in many cases that’s actually not true. The supplier is providing a completely different service or product for a wedding than they would for any old Tuesday. So they don't just randomly ADD more to the cost (aka: the alleged 'Wedding Tax'), there's always a method, reason and definitive difference in that cost increase. Imagine having your wedding cake melt and fall apart before you enter your reception - that baby's gotta stay pristine for hours! SECONDLY, not all suppliers increase their prices... sometimes it just seems that way at first glance, 'cause you're ordering something a little different, or you've got a higher expectation as the peeps getting married. It's not intentional, it happens to every couple at some point in their wedding journey I'm very pleased to be part of our awesome Perth community and the majority of the vendors here in WA are generous, creative and wonderful humans. 15.01.2022 I believe that weddings should be a celebration of love and happiness ... NOT a reason to stress and fight with your partner over insignificant things like napkin colours! That's why I looove my job so freaking much! I get the opportunity to help my couples get started in the right direction for them, and take some of the stress of 'The Unknown' off their shoulders.... Lemme tell you, that reduces the relationship stress a whole lot, 'cause most of the time, arguments arise from a misunderstanding, a clash in opinion, or a difference in expectation. I can't be there unfortunately BUT I quickly wanted to share some helpful tips, so you don't get all deer-in-the-headlights after talking to your 27th vendor of the day. 1. Make a list of what you need, before you go ... Otherwise you could spend 30 minutes talking to a decorator, when you more urgently need a cake maker, or a wedding coordinator. 2. Fold down the corner of the flyers from your favourite vendors for easy reference later - you'll be surprised at how quickly you forget someone's name (Bonus tip - don't just fold it in half, 'cause that might get confusing when you're unpacking the million bits of paper later). 3. If we haven't met yet, I'm a wedding coordinator, dog-mum, ENFP and gym-lover, who hogs all the popcorn (and the remote) I wanted to share a few quick thoughts about wedding coordination, 'cause I know it can be a bit confusing for a lot of peeps.... WHAT DOES A COORDINATOR DO? Your wedding coordinator is your person! She's your eyes, ears and voice while you're busy getting prepped in the morning. Everyone's different, but personally, I like to be on-site to coordinate vendor arrival, manage the schedule, oversee set-up and assist everyone as needed, to bring your wedding vision into real life It's also a massive stress relief for you, to have someone experienced who can foresee problems, deal with guest and supplier questions, keep everything flowing on-time, AND manage any crises that happen during set-up, so you can stop worrying about all the things that could go wrong!
